Totally random Loki thought I had while watching the show Evil:
I feel like Thor & Loki would be inordinately scared of Midgard's supernatural horror movies & the whole demonic possession/exorcism thing. Here's my thinking...
They are themselves gods (or depending on how you parse it at least refer to themselves that way).
They grew up where witchcraft/magic was real.
They've fought monsters & what could probably be considered demons.
Their sister was the goddess of death, & she clearly had them frightened.
So what happens when you present them with a singular god & devil, battling for control of the soul of humanity? What happens when they see things that to them, in their world, are real?
If demons are real for them then why should they not believe the representation of Christ is real too. If witchcraft is real for them then why not the idea of demonic posession or the taking of an innocent soul. Just because they haven't seen it with their own eyes I feel like they might still be inclined to believe it.
I just have this mental image of someone sitting between them & having them watch The Exorcist for the 1st time. Neither of them says anything during the movie, so you think they are just into it. Then after it's over you turn on the lights & see both of them clearly terrified. Eyes huge, pale, stone still, maybe Thor is shaking a little (c'mon we know he's really just a big teddy bear). You are suprised as you realize they believe it's all real. They make you leave all the lights on at night & Thor, scared to be alone, requests to sleep on the floor on your side of the bed in your bedroom you share with Loki (in my mind I'm dating him, leave me alone). You make a mental note not to show them The Shining. You'll only show them horror movies with good 'ole regular seriel killers.
Sometimes my brain goes "Should we be a Norse Pagan? The Norsemen had some funky opinions on women and gays back then..."
Then I remember that the Top 3 Gods in Norse Paganism are Old Man Who Does Women's Work, Buff Dude In A Dress, And Mr Genderfluidity Himself
And then I decide that centuries-old, bigoted cultural opinions that have likely been distorted or only partially explained don't have to be important to modern Pagans, especially not when the actual descendants of that culture no longer have those beliefs
Loki’s reaction to finding out the peanut butter’s gone:
Mighty hunter caught a chipmunk today! It must’ve gotten into the basement
Imagining waking up in the morning and having Loki hand me this coffee mug😐
Me: This isn’t meant as an insult but I still feel — WAIT…….
Loki: He’s getting it. I can see the gears turning.
Me: I’m taking this personally. This isn’t about me. I’m personalizing and projecting my trauma. That’s not ok.
Loki: Not really.
Me: Noted, and now I’m just gonna close this out so I don’t get upset again.
Me: *Listening to classic rock* What song is this?
Loki: Quiet down and listen to it so you can figure it out. *Scoffs and shakes his head.* And you claim to love classic rock. Jack Black would be displeased.
Me: *Shocked and wounded* Dude, that is uncalled for!
Loki: Did you or did you not just listen to Bruce Springsteen for the first time tonight?😑
Me:………..*Hangs head in shame* Jack Black would be displeased.
Loki: *Kisses the top of my head* Its okay, darlin’.
