THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN JUST INCREASING THE ACTIONS AND SPEED. SOMETIMES THE MOST PRODUCTIVE THING YOU CAN DO IS RELAX. . . . Whilst our culture promotes a never ending amount of doing, Restorative Yoga is the radical, counter-cultural experience of simply being. Our culture is built on how productive we can be, how much we can achieve and keep achieving. It can feel as if nothing is ever enough. We can even observe this within the Yoga community itself. Restorative Yoga is the radical, counter-cultural experience of simply being. We spend time and care setting up these props so that when we practice they support us fully and we may profoundly relax. Restorative Yoga has it’s background in the work of B.K.S. Iyengar who has pioneered the use of props to help support the body in Yoga postures. Other Iyengar style teachers such as Judith Lasater have evolved the practice and written extensively on Restorative Yoga. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to teach and creatively grow in finding my voice leading restorative yoga classes over the last 6 months. It is a beautiful thing to find a niche and know where you come home to in your gifts to the world. This weekend will be my final restorative classes for the season with the schedule changing for the warm weather and being outside more.
