The Best Way To Store Your Cannabis
Not all cannabis users inhale it like it's oxygen - a lot of people only consume small amounts at a time. If you end up saving some of your stash for later, there are quite a few factors that could degrade the quality of your buds, or even cause them to grow mold. No need to panic, Lifted Bud has everything you need to know about keeping your cannabis fresh and safe!
The big cannabis killers are temperature, light, and humidity. If your pot is too warm it will dry out faster, making it taste unpleasant and generally less potent. Storing your cannabis in the freezer can cause the trichomes to fall off, which isn't necessarily a bad thing if you plan on making concentrates like shatter. However, if you're looking to preserve your pot and keep it potent, you definitely want those trichomes to stay right where they are. Long term exposure to light can also degrade the THC in your stash, so it's best to store it in a dark and cool/room temperature place.
But what kind of container should you use to stash your stash? Resealable plastic bags are usually the go to item for many people, but this creates the possibility of your buds being crushed and turned into shake and dust inside the bag. If it's a large bag that you're not carrying around it'll be much safer, but every time the bag moves the cannabis inside will break up a little more turning your precious pot into unsavory shake. In addition to that, scents can permeate through plastic bags which also means moisture is getting out, your cannabis is losing it's aroma and taste, and starting to dry out. So if plastic bags aren't a good option, paper, tinfoil, envelopes, etc. are definitely not good ideas.
The best possible way to store your cannabis is in airtight glass jars.
You can buy brand new jars or clean and re-purpose old pasta sauce or jam/jelly jars - they're really not hard to find at all! Any size will do, however in this case bigger isn't necessarily better. Ideally you want to find a jar that's just large enough to hold all the cannabis you plan to store. More space in the jar equals more air, and more air leads to your stash drying out faster. However, keeping your cannabis in a slightly too-large jar in a dark, cool place is still better than keeping it in a plastic sandwich bag.
So there you have it! Do you already stash your stash in a jar, or are you making mental plans to get your hands on some? Reblog / Share with your friends so they don't lose their precious trichomes and delicious nugs! Delicious Cannabis Edibles Without The Powerful Plant Taste
Cannabis edibles have come a long way since the time when "special brownies" were the mainstream medicated munchie. These days you can get hard candies, gummi's, drinks, pastries, and more that will give you the THC buzz without the smoke. However, the main thing people complain about when it comes to medicated edibles, myself included, is that they often taste like you're eating a plant with a little bit of chocolate/candy flavouring on the side. This is because almost all cannabis cooking/baking recipes require butter, and since the THC needs to bond with a fat, cannabutter (cannabis infused butter) is made and used as the main ingredient in edibles. This usually requires melting butter in a skillet while stirring in large amounts of cannabis, and then straining out all the unwanted plant matter afterwards. But how do you make something with cannabis and not have it taste like cannabis? Well, the secret is actually to NOT use cannabis.
In almost every species of plant there are oils called terpenes that produce the taste, smell, and colour of the plant. Terpenes exist in cannabis plants as well, and are responsible for a variety of aromas you've come to know and love such as citrus, pine, berry, and even cheese! While it is a little bit more hard and/or expensive to come by, the key to making amazing edibles that don't taste like your backyard is to use kief.
Kief is the shiny, sparkly bits of cannabinoid resin sprinkled across higher quality buds, sometimes referred to as "crystals". Kief contains very concentrated cannabinoids that can produce the same psychoactive effects that cannabis buds do, however it has a much more muted taste and has a much shorter prep time!
First what you'll need to do is preheat the oven to 300°F - in order to activate the psychoactive THC in the kief, you need to decarboxylate it (heat it up). Then put your kief in an oven safe container (1gram per half pound of unsalted butter), cover it, and bake for seven minutes. After taking it out, keep the cover on the container as it cools. Then using a sauce pan or skillet, melt your butter on medium heat. After it's thoroughly melted, add your decarboxylated kief and stir until it's dissolved. Once the kief has completed dissolved into the butter you're done (it's important that you don't continue cooking after this point). You can now use your kief butter in a recipe, or pour your butter into cupcake liners and freeze them for future use!

5 Amazing Strains for a Wake And Bake Session
Any cannabis connoisseur knows that different strains have different effects, strengths, and weaknesses. When it comes to an early morning session however, most people are looking for a pick me up - something to replace coffee or energy drinks and still get you moving. If you missed our Top 5 Strongest Sativas article (https://liftedbud.tumblr.com/post/158284333630/top-5-strongest-sativa-sdh-strains) you'll definitely want to take a look at it since all of those strains would be perfect for a wake and bake. Consider this a round two, featuring five more fantastic strains for early birds looking to get their smoke on.
Lemon Haze
A famous sativa known for bringing a quick wave of positivity and laughter over those who indulge. Clocking in at about 15-20% THC, Lemon Haze won't give you an intense high, but it will put you in a great mood with a mild euphoria to boot. An amazing medicine for stress, anxiety, headaches, and more. With it's super citrus-y smell and fruity taste, Lemon Haze never disappoints as a wake and bake strain or daytime buzz. To get your hands on your own, visit https://liftedbud.com/product/lemon-haze/
Chocolope
Bred by crossing Chocolate Thai with Cannalope Haze, Chocolope pays homage to the great chocolate strains of the 80's. Quite opposite to Lemon Haze, Chocolope has a very earthy aroma with a taste reminiscent of coffee, and is a bit more of a head high. Users have mentioned feeling a dreamy, but strong mental shift into a cerebral haze - amazing for anxiety and depression. An early morning Chocolope session will definitely get your head in the right place to deal with the day, especially Monday.
Green Crack
We've already given Green Crack quite a bit of attention on our blog, but can you blame us? This strain is amazing and it got the nickname "crack" for a reason - once you pop you just can't stop! It comes equipped with a tangy, fruity scent and flavour and a sharp, invigorating mental buzz. You can also find an indica dominant version of Green Crack, but if you're looking for a daytime high definitely stick with the sativa. This strain clocks in at 13-21% THC and users often report an energetic buzz after a session.
Grapefruit
There seems to be a trend when it comes to citrus-y strains and wake and bake sessions. The super sweet scent of Grapefruit is enough to get someone out of bed, but as a little bonus this strain combines energy with a stress-evaporating buzz. Many people like to replace caffeine with an early morning session, however it's been said that Grapefruit compliments a morning cup of coffee perfectly. If you're the type that really takes a long time to get going in the morning, have a coffee and Grapefruit session and you'll be on your way! Need some Grapefruit for yourself? Here you go!: https://liftedbud.com/product/grapefruit/
Maui Wowie
Everyone and their grandma has heard of Maui Wowie, the tropical Hawaiian strain that boasts an aroma with hints of island pineapple. As the name suggests, this strain will have you going "wowie" as the stress-free wave of euphoria carries your mind to a resort in Hawaii. A reviewer on Leafly said "it feels like being in a kangaroo's pouch while it's jumping". If that doesn't sound like pure happiness and bliss, I don't know what does - making Maui Wowie one of the best wake and bake strains ever.
