hello and welcome to my class! i am proud and honored to be a teacher for this fine institution for yet another year. you know, i started out just like you, a student, a long time ago. i’d like to think i know a little bit more about magic now.
i will guide you in your path to the best of my abilities. please never hesitate to ask for my help!
nowadays, most everyone has hyejin as a teacher at least a couple times during their stay at the academy: she’s in charge of the initial classes on ritual performances, a core skill that all students must learn. at the moment, she does not teach any expert-level classes.
in general, her magic isn’t thought of as groundbreaking or overwhelmingly powerful — though she can absolutely harness power from the moonlight to achieve great feats, her style is usually mellow and supportive of other strains of magic instead. she prefers casting magic that adds positive effects to targets, rather than removing (or adding) negatives. hyejin has no interest in seeking further empowerment for herself at this time, but she will gladly aid others in such pursuit!
— CLASSES
BASIC RITUAL PERFORMANCE — TIER D
type: core class.
frequency: weekly.
students enrolled: none yet.
heavier on theory than practice.
covers fundamentals of ritualistic performance: important guidelines and historical use cases (successful or not), best practices, and demonstrations by the teacher and guest lecturers.
in order to pass the class, students must successfully complete three separate, small-scale rituals of their choosing, in controlled environments overseen by the teacher.
INTERMEDIATE RITUAL PERFORMANCE — TIER C
type: core class.
frequency: weekly.
students enrolled: none yet.
about even on theory vs. practice.
students learn more applied cases of ceremonial performance, and also get the chance to assist the teacher with her own rituals that she is asked to perform by the headmaster or other staff.
in order to pass the class, students must perform a ritual that either takes a full day of channeling to complete, or that requires at least five steps (i.e preparation, sigil or ingredient enchantment, chanting, cleansing rite to sever lingering connections, etc.) — group rituals are encouraged but not mandatory.
FULL MOON RITUALS — TIER C-B
type: elective, available only on years with a blue moon (typically, every two to three years). currently available.
frequency: about once a month, depending on lunar cycles.
students enrolled: none yet.
13 rituals total, each tailored to a specific classification of full moon in order to maximize effectiveness. [ ooc note: if needed, assume that lore drops/events are worked into or around this class, i.e hyejin had her students assist her in rituals to prepare for the blood moon hunt before they all partook in it ]
in order to pass the class, students must have been present for at least 10 of the 13 rituals with satisfactory performance.
— SEMINARS
THE FIVE ELEMENTS OF THE UNIVERSE: AFFINITY AND EMPOWERMENT IN BALANCE — TIER C
frequency: based on demand/amount of new students, roughly once every couple years. next one is scheduled for july 6-10, 2026.
length: five-day-long workshop.
students enrolled: none yet.
how to work with the basic five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal and water) along with light and darkness, and how to properly harness their fundamental power when casting magic of any kind.
RECENT ADVANCEMENTS IN BOTANIC AND RITUALISTIC MANIPULATION — TIER B
frequency: once a year, usually on the first sunday of december. next one is scheduled for december 1, 2026.
length: day-long workshop.
students enrolled: none yet.
provides students with access to cutting-edge research and development on applied botany geared towards ceremonial performance. attempts to recreate results in controlled settings.
— MENTORSHIP
MOON MAGIC
students enrolled: none yet.
hyejin’s ability is lunar empowerment. while her preferred method of tapping into this is through self-written rituals, she has spent enough time studying the moonlight and she is more than capable of aiding students in harnessing its powers as well. she will design lessons and practices tailored to a witch’s specific needs and work with them to achieve desired goals.
POTION BREWING
students enrolled: none yet.
hyejin is well-versed in potion brewing, and though there are no classes she teaches on the topic currently, she is happy to provide 1-on-1 mentorship to students that need more individualized assistance. this is meant to supplement both core and elective classes, and she will often work alongside other teachers to design a personalized plan for each student.
