For some reason it never occurred to me that Travis also dances in Shaping Sound lmao. But that was SOOOOO COOOOOOOL. Man, I forgot what it was like to be completely captivated by Travis at his best. And Lex! Can’t emote my foot! He was such an evil little shit in this omgggg it was so cool

I just got around to watching, and I am just so confused by the opening group? For a while I figured it must be pharside and phoenix and that's why the costumes/makeup were so offensive, but then it wasn't even them? MORE choreographers want to culturally appropriate with no reason????? and THEN when it came around to the Important Piece Choreographed By Travis Wall, I lost it. Can we do something about this? Who can we tweet?

(but wait there’s more!) 3. I am tired of Taylor. The judges want her to be The Girl To Beat but she’s so generic in a season where nobody else is. I’m hoping to see her get exposed in a watered down hip hop (or slay it and then I’ll back off of her) 4. PLEASE someone give us a mind-blowing fusion group dance that takes advantage of all of these well rounded dancers!!!! Jaci Royal let us down so….I’m praying for another Sonya/Chris Scott collaboration please???

Okay last one. Can we talk about that weird broadway group? What were they wearing?!? Kristyn Burtt tweeted that they had to tape that dance like 3 times because people kept messing up, and even the one they used was still messy.

1. I was SHOCKED that it was Luther Brown. Like my dude, I thought we were friends…? I, um…appreciate that we saw something different from him, but come on, guys. We go through this every freaking season.

2. Lmfao I just really want to know who gave that the green light. It’s like NOBODY sat for a while and thought critically about what they were doing. If it was the producers, then I’m gonna need some twitter handles.

3. You know, I thought they were pimping Taylor, but she got an actual critique this week, so I’m not too mad. I’m glad she was challenged and they were honest when she didn’t quite get it, though I’m gonna blame Robert too. Since everyone apparently thought having non-ballroom trained all-stars doing Latin ballroom all season was a good idea. She most certainly has hip-hop next week…well, I hope, anyway. So we’ll see how that goes.

4. YES PLEASE! Can you imagine how good Lex would be? Kaylee? Mark? Logan?? MY BODY IS READY

5. I liked the outfits and what it was going for, but it was just…overall pretty sloppy?? Like really sloppy. I felt like people were never perfectly in sync. Especially glaring was Kaylee during the bit with her, Taylor, and Sydney. It was like a poor man’s Comanche from season 6.

Girlllll I just finished watching the first live show and I was going to come here and tell you you need to watch it only to find that others already have! Yes it's kids but they're real good and if we're getting an all all-star dance every week I'm in

See, I didn’t know that the format would include the all-stars from the get-go. I thought we were going to get a top 20 of kids and we’d have to watch them suffer for half the competition before all-stars came in. I’m still not entirely sold on the ballroom kids dancing with grown ass adults, but I liked the format more than I thought I would. @_@

I was going to explain, but I figured it’d be best to just provide the link. No sources except for her Facebook post, but her Facebook post says plenty on its own.

This isn’t to hate on Jaja or anything, and I’m not interested in speculating about her personal life, but that info combined with how over it she was last night just makes me sad, I guess. I hope she pulls it together eventually.

This is just something random I was thinking about today, but how do you think Marcquet would have done in the new format? I have no idea which side he would have auditioned for but that would have been fun to watch

The more I think about it, the more I think Marcquet was better suited to the original format. We all know how good he is at hip-hop, but his jack-of-all-trades thing seemed to favor the other format. He definitely wouldn’t have made it if he auditioned as ballroom this seasons.

When I found out Travis was doing something for Jim I thought it would just be some happy technique-filled leg dance that didn't really have a purpose other than to show him off, but the story of it (how it was easily a competition piece) definitely showed that Travis really thought Jim would be in the finale and already had that piece made for him. I didn't like how Nigel said "a routine choreographed for the show that was never shown" though because that made me think it was going to be JJ :(

Travis said that he had already planned Jim’s finale duet in his blog after he was eliminated and that he was heartbroken that he left before he got to do it, so you’re exactly right. I kind of wish that it was just a happy technique filled leg dance because the story is exactly why I couldn’t connect to it when I saw it. Also there was some odd camerawork, but that seemed to be the theme of the night.
