So there’s been a lot of Dark!Roman going around and I know a lot of people like the idea of him being Pride or a super sassy, confident, dangerous villain, which is really cool.
But now with the Remus in the mix along with the most recent episode, I have an idea regarding if Roman and Remus switched creative functions.
Now this doesn’t exactly mean Roman being dark and Remus being light, (as it’s been established by Virgil with calling them “the others”, along with the current themes of the series that nothing is black and white) but it does mean that the one with the “seat at the table” is switched.
Essentially, what if character!Thomas chose to accept Remus and listen to him, while Roman ducked out/spiraled/“went dark”?
If this happened, Roman would be the repressed, intrusive creativity, while Remus is one of the core sides.
Here’s how I think it would look.
Roman represents creativity, passion, romance, and Thomas’ ego. However, his creativity is strictly fantastical and “Netflix and kids”, and he’s also ridiculously insecure. Not at all egotistical. Roman is also very emotionally charged, which is why I don’t think he’d be “Intrusive Thoughts” like Remus.
He’d be Intrusive Feelings, and his side name would be Insecurity.
If Roman worked from the repressed parts of character!Thomas’ mind, his ego would be crushed. He’d be insecure of his opinions, his romantic feelings, and the creativity he can bring to the table, feeling it’s too “childish” for character!Thomas now that he’s a grown man.
Basically, “dark side” or “Intrusive” Roman, however you prefer to interpret it, is an insecure, self loathing mess who, while still tries to provide character!Thomas with ideas, is constantly stopped by his doubts and feelings of inadequacy.
I also headcanon that the stress of this change gives Roman his own white streak, eyebags, and that his sash is torn and he wears it like a scarf in an effort to shield himself/provide comfort.
So Remus is more than just intrusive thoughts. He’s confident, unashamed, creative in his own way, sexual, and even more prideful than Roman honestly. The boy doesn’t give a crap about what others think of him.
Now imagine what character!Thomas would be like if a side like that was the main creativity?
For one, Remus as a core side would be pure confidence, really hammering home in group discussions the importance of individuality, pride in your work, and not caring what others think. If anything, he’d be a more (debatably) healthy ego than Roman is.
His ideas, granted, would be much more....”mature” than Roman’s, but as a core side, these ideas would hopefully be tempered by Patton’s morality, Virgil’s anxiety, and Logan’s amazing level headedness. While character!Thomas would certainly have to do away with his kid friendly viewership completely, Remus as the main creativity would, at best, push character!Thomas along a new, more game of thrones-y career style, and, at worst, be a total disaster
(Also Remus is super sexually forward so take that how you will having him being the driver while Roman’s romantism is taking the backseat)
So yeah, that’s my idea! Super long so thanks for staying till the end, have a doodle I did of the creative twins in this AU!
