Kohaku had no idea where he was as one moment, he was in his home land of Feudal Japan, the next he was here.

He got up to dust off his clothes before hearing strange noises that caused him to seek out a different spot, he quickly finds a slightly rooted up tree as he climbed inside to hide away until the noises cease.

The life sustaining jewel shard embedded in his back was reacting to his fear as a dim glow appears, he shivers as he didn’t know if a monster was showing or something else entirely so he stays put.

This had been a thing ever since he'd gotten back.

A life more comparable to a nomad than anything else. Home wasn't staying somewhere all the time, it was having somewhere to belong when you got back. A village where his life had some kind of purpose, for the sake of others. The few that had become family were always told whenever he'd be leaving, it was never during a time the workload would be heavy. Not when the other two yōkai exterminators had a family of their own to be taking care of.

Now there was someone else. Yōkai, good for her. He'd long since thrown away the idea that things could be black and white. There was a reason Inuyasha followed his own moral compass, and chose not to speak at all of what he'd have been if born fully human. No one in these years needed to know how high his status would have been. This yōkai woman, however...

Her scent was particularly unsettling. Why, he didn't know. Something he'd keep to himself, the world didn't need to know his business.

And speaking of scents...

"I know you're not stupid enough to actually think you're hiding. Your nose is probably stronger than mine." No bother to so much as open his eyes. Only to point out the biological fact, she was a real yōkai. The truth that he wouldn't ever be still left a bitter taste in the hanyō's mouth.
