it's actually so funny being in a world that cares so much about marriage and not feeling anything towards the concept or the event of a wedding. like maybe I'm the monster, that's cool, but whenever someone's like omg I'm engaged or omg I'm so excited to support my best friend getting married...I like don't actually care at all?

like sure I've been a bridesmaid and I deeply love the friends who I was a bridesmaid for...but like sorry your actual marriage means very little to me and I don't think of it as an accomplishment. I care more if your partner supports you for the rest of your life and vice versa than I do like....a wedding or signing a marriage certificate and getting the government involved in front of your friends and family. to me marriage is only a legal contract so your wishes can be known in case of emergency and who is considered your family to the government and institutions tied to it.

people WHO ARE NOT EXTREMELY WEALTHY dropping $30,000 AS A BASELINE casually on their weddings is so beyond insane to me I cannot fathom.
