I've also come to the conclusion that I generally prefer more wholesome media.
Like, I can take violent media, but in a world where violence and negativity is the norm, I much prefer my media to not reflect our reality.
Which is largely why I think I've come to dispise most fan works. Their so thoroughly obsessed with making everything so "dark" and "serious" that they become completely detached from reality, and try to force it onto others.
That's why a game I heard of called, "My Friendly Neighborhood", is such a breath of fresh air!
The premise is: "Your a tired, old war veteran (Heavily implied to be a Vietnam veteran), who works as an electrician, and is called in to shut down an old T.V. studio, who's antenna is mysterious playing old episodes of a show called, well, "My Friendly Neighborhood"... (Roll credits).
And well. The puppets are alive. No possession, no magic, their just... Alive...
And over the course of the game, you find out the living puppets with the minds of 4 years olds, are slowly being corrupted by the dark, edgy media they discover.
Their not evil, they don't want to hurt you, they just need guidance from people who will love, and guide them through their problems.
And it creates some of the most wholesome moments I've EVER seen in anything I've seen.
Like, there's one scene with this frog girl puppet in a theater, and you walk up to her, sit near here, and have a chat about how, "Life may get you down, but things will eventually get better."
And it's by far the BEST scene in the whole game.
So yeah, we need more wholesome in our lives.
And a Sesame Street inspired game single handedly gives me more hope than 99% of adventure fantasy Cartoons could ever hope to achieve!
Gentle reminder to eat vegetables :)
