i just got reminded of how Caitlin and Cisco are the ones who came up with the cure for Mirakuru in Arrow and only in the spawn of a few episodes. just like it took minutes for Barry, in his own introductory episode there, to find what was wrong with Oliver and whatever he had been injected with, and to save his life.
i get that it's all bad science and inaccurate and seriously impossible, characters being way too smart and too good and, for some, setting a standard that's too high. but. but.
characters like Barry, Cisco and Caitlin, actual science nerds, geniuses, the type of people that were also mocked and ostracized and bullied in school because of their intelligence and too good grades and nerdiness, these, are so important.
they're so good and so important to me, i'll say it, but i love these characters and how they're such geniuses in their fields and how they're also super passionate about it and how they can find a cure no one else can in days and how they share how much they were misunderstood and mistreated when younger because of all of this. and yet they're still there, nerdier than ever, smarter and more skilled and bigger geniuses.
and then, of course, the show forgets about these characters's intelligence and nerdiness and passion and skills and both dumbs them down, usually for the benefit of other characters or to please the audience or for whatever other reason, or even pushes them to the side.
these characters are so so important, really, and they are important as such and i feel like both the show and the fandom brush these things aside, these sides of them and what they mean and can mean really, really, as such. and i'm tired of seeing people say that they're boring, or that they overstay their welcome, or that they're useless or that other characters can be as smart if not more super easily. no. i'm sorry but not, these three are special and they're them and just them and unique and so freaking important.
also the three of them having had the same experience with bullying in school, as nerds, and they understand each other and they found people who get it in each other and they get that they're still geniuses anyways who can solve and cure and understand basically anything scientific. others can't understand or follow or do what they do and that’s the whole point, it's their world and their domain. the one where they're happy and comfortable and thriving, finally. let them have that and keep it.
If The Anthology is never released on vinyl I will cause a raging riot in the streets. Those songs are too good to not be listened to on vinyl!!
Okay, whoever of you assholes managed to take away most of the balloons we tied to the sewer things. I will find out where you live, and I will shave either you everywhere so you look like a rejected Luthor offspring, or all of your pets are getting a haircut to look like the ballsack of an old man, got it?! Leave our fucking balloons alone!! -JV
Okay, this might sound mean, but why have an empty blog? As someone who makes edits (at one point wanted to QUIT despite just starting and actually enjoying making the edits), I always get bothered getting notifs of people liking the edits and not reblogging them, checking out their blogs and see IT'S EMPTY.
It's actually tiring now to tell people to reblog anything anymore because people aren't going to do it. They don't care to. I have entirely giving up on telling people that reblogging is nice, too. They just want to like it and some even complain to creatives about reblogging their own stuff despite they don't. It's ungrateful, entitled behavior and yes, it can get discouraging sometimes. I'm actually more surprised when I see people I don't recognize reblog anything of mine.
And you know what? If you have an empty blog, I'm just going to start blocking you. If you like anything of mine, shoot, ANYBODY'S work, and you have an empty blog for more than a whole week I'm just going to block you.
It is petty? I don't care. People keep saying that the only way creative work gets recognized is through reblogs, not likes. And if you can't seem to understand that, I say you get blocked.
If you have the free time to spam like someone's work, spend the extra few minutes to reblog it, too! Having an empty blog is just... why? Just to have an account here? THEN USE IT! LIKING IS NICE BUT IT ALSO DOES NOTHING FOR CREATORS!! REBLOG STUFF!!
