Okay I’m doing a rewatch of hr (are we surprised, honestly I’m more surprised at how long it’s been since the last time I did lol) and episode 3 when Scott and Kip are back at Scott’s apartment after the gala how much Scott manhandles Kip in his bed, literally pulling him up from laying down by the collar of his shirt

The thing is the super fancy schools have only funded their disability services well within the last 5 years. I am currently at the #1 program in my field and everyone is making sure I can stay there because I'm proactive with my accommodations and a good student, but the city and the school also has way more basic accessibility resources and community for me now, after having a disabled mayor and college President. This had not happened yet when I first looked at colleges almost a decade ago. I wouldn't have been able to navigate down that street in my wheelchair with ease before our disabled congressperson at the time fixed it. Now I can. The amount of disabled people who came before me who made my access possible is wild and beautiful and it continues to happen daily.

disability activists are constantly building the most amazing things out of fucking nothing, it's mind-blowing. they're not just spinning straw into gold, they're spinning, like, getting yelled at for not having straw into gold. some fucking how.
