Intro post!!!

Hi!! I go by Sauron or Dai, they/she pronouns, and I have multiple blogs now so I figured I’d make an intro!!

This blog is my main one, at the moment it has just about everything but I’m planning to clean it up a little bit and have it be… basically everything that doesn’t fit into another category lol (awareness/diversity posts, fandoms other than spn, writerly things, and silly tiktoks mostly)

My other blogs are:

I’m casually in an unreasonably number of fandoms, but right now I mostly post about Supernatural and BloodyMary (shipping the protagonist of Project Hail Mary with the protagonist of Iron Lung, for the unenlightened lmao)

I can be talked into shipping just about any combination of characters as long as the reasoning is thoughtful; I often have multiple contradictory ships in the same fandom because I found several fics that were very convincing in different directions

the queer community needs to hype up disability pride month (july btw) while queer pride month is happening. the queer community needs to amplify disabled queer experiences.

the queer community needs to recognize intersex people and how many of us have disabilities related to our intersex variation - and this Still Does Not Prove Eugenicists Right.

the queer community needs to fight ableism and love disabled people. queer or not. also quick question. why do you think the right paints us as insane predators.

listen. eva stratt’s biggest mistake and greatest (emotional) downfall absolutely WAS keeping a junior high school teacher nearby. not as a tertiary science officer— that was a reason, in the back of her mind, but she also Needed Him.

it’s not as clear in the movie, but eva stratt does not seem to be a scientist. at least not at the level as the others on PHM. in the book, she seems to purposefully bring grace along to various meetings because she needs his input and his translation. there are several times that a scientist will propose a solution to her, and she turns to her snarky teacher friend second in command and asks his opinion. he’s there because he is incredibly smart and, if needed, can explain things to her so she can understand. before grace? i bet she was largely doing this alone. i’m sure others would explain things to her if she asked, but it comes so naturally to grace. it’s his fucking job. it’s his second language, AND he doesn’t think less of her for it. he knows what she’s capable of, and thinks she’s still right for the job, even if the science of it all is over her head

i’m sure that it started out early, when they were still learning what astrophage was. grace was a leading mind in it, and was needed. but then she brought him along to help translate other things for her. and then because she trusted his judgement. and then because, deep down, he was her friend.

I make the same face every time theres some documentary talking like "the ancient Egyptians believed the Nile river was sacred" and i'm like....well yeah? Its kind of like, the only reason their entire society exists? Seems pretty reasonable to me

also not only is the nile river the entire reason their society existed, but the nile river is incredibly predictable. it has followed the same course for over 10 thousand years. it floods at the same time every year. there is no other river like it, and while obviously the egyptian scope of the world only stretched so far, they knew enough to know that the nile was special.

'rocky learns to swear in english' is great and all but have we considered the equally hilarious alternative: rocky makes grace a little harmonica so he can use tone indicators in eridian, does not realize how terrible of a mistake this is until it's too late. grace catches onto tone indicators FAST and he is DEVASTATING with their application. grace does not use eridian swears but rocky gets to hear "are we choosing kind words" and "I'm not mad I'm just disappointed" in eridian roughly thirty times per day
