I think a lot of people view rural space as fundementally untouchable which is maybe not gr8. Ultimately do whatever you want but I think the homesteader mythos is really fucking us here like theres so many people who daydream about Owning Their Own Land and perceive ownership as the only route to meaningfully benefitting from a close relationship to land. Im pretty sure the majority of people doing this are just kind of using the fantasy for cope without ever having any true intention of doing much about it but still.
There are definitely huge drawbacks to living places you dont have an ownership stake in under the system of private property and im not tryina discount the reality of that but. You Can Move To A Farm. It might take a minute to network but like. You Can Do That. It is incredibly possible for you personally to decide to go be somewhere that would have different advantages and disadvantages re: navigating collapse if you want to do that. Is it worth it? 🤷🤷🤷 lotta pros and cons. But it doesnt HAVE to be a $500,000 daydream or something ya throw ur hands into the air bemoaning the modern impossibility of.
