patho fic prompt: roleswap!! you decide who gets to fulfill which role. i'm just fascinated by the idea of the healers interacting with each other's bound (i.e. people whose views aren't compatible with theirs at first glance). thanks a million in advance if you decide to fill!!
I immediately went over the 1k limit, but I am defending myself by saying I had three perspectives to cover. I present Heart, Soul and Mind, my roleswap au!
Thank you very much for this prompt!! Sorry I couldn’t cover the bound very comprehensively <3
If anybody else would like to send in a prompt, go for it!!!
please talk about your nocturnal ending au!! inflict it upon us all
HJGDHGJHF god get ready for epic fix it cringe my dude (but also THANK U ;-;)
- im largely ignoring the nature of actors and roles which would otherwise be present in the narrative because i can, it makes me happy, otherwise i risk talking about the play undermining itself and lasting beyond its due into a 5th act and the toll that would take on the world/actors
- im still working out the literal plot kinks but general idea is that artemy recognises that the nocturnal end and the idea of selfhood mother boddho seeks for her children isn’t compatible with a large majority of the town, but he can’t bear to see people he loves like Nottkin go on a doomed wander off into the steppe, so he corrals everyone he can get his hands on into the factory. time’s short since they’ll either die of plague or escape on the doomed steppe trek so he first sets out dismantling the polyhedron piece by piece. it’s still a stake piercing his mother’s heart, the plague is her cry of agony and he’s a healer, so the choice is logical. piece by piece it comes down, but without the immense trauma of being torn from her with firepower. and insert metaphorical and spiritual connection scene here which i’ll figure out, artemy’s greatest action is to dismantle the human dream built on a foundation of suffering and heal the earth. it’s a complete dismantlement.
and with that, the plague subsides. it’s a cry of agony which has been answered. and now it only falls to take everyone who has no place in this new world beyond the bounds of the story. Quite Literally. and stretch the world boundaries back to the Capital, or close enough that they could slot themselves back into a world their identities and conceptions of selfhood are familiarised with. they’d be forever disconnected in some way i think, because the town on gorkon was this union of the fantastical and mundane, that allowed for something like the Mistresses and Story Roles and the Polyhedron. But it was built on the back of extortionist ideologue and ultimately artemy believes in dismantling that and providing a safe haven for his people more than the cost of assimilating the khatange back into a self perpetuating cycle of power and oppression.
and basically im sort of playing w the idea of a meta character running away w the story or pushing at it’s seams. it’s making the world strain and ultimately artemy can’t leave the world he’s chosen, but he’d prefer the rest of the town be alive, if perhaps “cleaved in two”.
and like, insert imagery here about how the further they go down the traintracks to gorkhon being to rust and sink back into the earth, and the bittersweet nature of everyone who doesn’t belong in the nocturnal end forgetting artemy. fic likely ends w a reversal of roles where it is now the humbles and utopians who feels split from themselves, they can assimlate into the world, but a part of them, that which relied on the fantastical, can no longer be quite as it Was in the town.
tldr i just wanna heal the earth and have everyone live, even if theres an inherent Separateness now between them
Hatari is scheduled to perform at a protest at Austurvöllur Park tomorrow. What exactly are they protesting against? I couldn't glean much from the event's Facebook page other than the fact that it has something to do with your Minister of Fisheries?
It’s about the recent corruption scandal regarding Samherji, one of Iceland’s biggest companies, who were paying huge bribes to officials in Namibia to buy up fishing quotas. The minister was a former CEO of the company, generally pretty buddy-buddy with them and, according to the whistleblower, attended at least one of the meetings about the bribery, where the head of the company introduced him as “our guy in the government”.
In short, Hatari is almost definitely going to be playing Spillingardans. I’ll be there; will probably try to get some video if feasible.
(Before I get more asks about it: yes, Matthías was on a talk show tonight, and I will be translating his bits.)
genuinely worried about the emotional response i'll have when the album comes out. like ógleði and 14 ár already go so hard live i'm afraid i'll have a breakdown when i listen to the crisp, clean studio version
