"Y/n, what are you—"
Jeongguk's words halted, morphing into an exhaled breath, his eyes widening in a blend of fondness and amusement.
She's in one of those mood where that little girl inside her is high on emotions.
Normally, he can indeed go through such situations
But well, this time...
Her dull eyes, glared at him for no apparent reason.
And the way she clutched his collar was too bold of her.
He couldn't think she's grumpy.
Oh she's just a child in his eyes.
Not entirely, but still.
His lips curved up into that stupid smile that tugged at her heartstrings.
She wasn't budging, though.
If anything, she only narrowed her eyes at him, pissed off.
And he laughed.
He laughed in that way he does.
In a way that his crinkle near his eyes show up.
In a way that his hair falls on his forehead.
In a way that his voice sounds more soothing.
Soothing enough to make her fall in love all over again.
She looked at him, the glare softening only a tad bit.
The dim light of his living room made him look like himself
Like a home, with no facade but only so much warmth.
His smile broadened, that unfair crinkle near his eyes almost getting to her.
But Y/n gazed away for a moment, huffing to herself.
When she gazed back, his head was tilted low so that their eyes are on the same level, awaiting her words.
But she just gazed at him.
She just gazed into his eyes.
And suddenly she was hyper aware of the things that happened for the day,
The tiredness, the way some snapped at her.
She didn't even know why would they flash before her eyes, like a bad dream.
Maybe it's the day settling in.
Maybe it's the way he looks into her eyes,
Longing just the same to know about her day
To share about his day's weight.
It wrecks her.
"I didn't ignore your messages on purpose, you know. Don't overthink that I got annoyed or something that you spammed my chat."
He murmured, and his hand slipped into her hair strands, undoing her hair band.
He liked it that way, he liked to let his hand hold her in that way.
Tender, like a guardian.
Trusting, like she's his guardian too.
Y/n's grip on his collar tightened
This time, however, her eyes were downcast, clouded with emotions.
He smiled faintly, leaning on the wall, his other arm circling her waist, the only sound being the mix of their breathing and the tick of the clock.
And then he chuckles.
Slow. Sweet. Raw.
His hand is brushing her free strands, before he muttered softly,
The mischief in his voice clear.
"What now, sweetheart? Am I supposed to get you those sweets? Those cookies that you love because you had them as a kid— ow! Baby..that hurts"
His sarcastic comment ended with a grumble when she smacked his chest,
But the grin on his face only widened, grabbing her wrist as he pulled her closer, their faces inches apart. Y/n squeaked under his strength, trying to resist. But her heart wanted him. It wanted him so deeply it felt selfish and greedy. Even if it's greedy, that was the only thing that put her mind in silence. He is the only anchor.
She huffed, tilting her head away
But he was quick to react.
"Easy there, baby. I won't want to be rough with you right now."
There was an edge to his voice, something that made her feel grounded.
Something that made her feel both loved and desired.
Oh but, maybe she wanted him to be exactly that.
A little chiding won't hurt.
Because it's just indulgence disguised.
Because it's him.
And he would never really hurt her.
Her mind just ignored his words completely.
Brat, he thought.
He exhaled, shaking his head as he tilted her chin, gazing into her eyes for a beat,
Pushing off the wall, and backing her up against the other end, forehead cradled against hers, both of their breaths warm and slow.
"You just don't listen, do you?"
He murmured and Y/n wanted to drench into the warmth of his voice
She wanted to be small in his arms, she wanted to cup his cheeks and ask about his day because she couldn't imagine letting him feel weary.
But all she could do
All she could do was to shut up and close her eyes like a second memory.
There was a brief silence.
And after a beat, another warmth.
This time with more softness, in the form of lips against lips,
In the way his nose brushes against hers as he tilts his head to savor the dried tears on her lips, and it makes her eyes squeeze shut, embarrassed. In the way his tongue gently coaxed her lips to part, swallowing her soft gasps and teasing her on the same breath.
It's quiet.
Her mind finally shuts up it's drama.
Only he could do that.
Only he could pull her by her waist and not get pushed off
Only he could see her vulnerable side.
And when he parts for a brief second, her palms are reaching out like she's seeking a candy, gripping his shoulders, eyes fluttering open to see him so close.
It's intimate. The way he rests his forehead against hers like he trusts her,
The way a soft chuckle leaves his lips as he nuzzles his nose against hers. It's as if he couldn't comprehend how deeply, deeply he's in love.
"Greedy, hm?"
He asks her, that mirth in his eyes unmistakable
And she smacks him the second time.
This time, he barely holds her wrist, pressing a kiss against her palm
And God, it totally pushes her eyes to brim with tears.
He smiles, that crinkle reappearing like joy
His arms pull her into his safe warmth, brushing her head gently.
"Aigoo, I'm here, baby. I'm here. It'll be alright, everything. I'll be there even if it's not, and we will figure it out."
If anything, his words only pull more sobs from her lips.
But he won't want her to be numb, suppressing all those cries.
When she pulls back, his fingers are already wiped under her eyes, and she's smacking him again.
Softer, this time.
Almost a thank you in her own language.
Oh but the things going on inside her head right now—
It's all a blend of so many emotions.
He chuckles, placing both of his hands on either side of her head, leaning close once again. And this time, it's evident, the suppressed longing was not just for hugs. It was desire, with tints of love, craving him, his voice, his touch. That quiet, deep heat, it's evident.
Though bashful, she couldn't help but tug him to initiate the kiss herself this time.
He was taken aback for a moment, smiling against her lips, aware of her cheeks glowing slightly, just slightly crimson. And that thought makes him heady.
Makes them both intoxicated. To do anything, to explore themselves until that longing is sated.
It's a long, sweet, sweet night.
