July Fic Recs: Neighbors!
Who hasn't clapped an eye on a neighbor and gone Hmmmmmm? Neighbor AUs are lots of fun because you're almost certain to see the object of your affection at all kinds of times and in all sorts of states. And yet, you're not quite in a position to get to know them better, not unless you get up the courage to knock on their door. Here are some of my faves!

The first time Jyn meets her new neighbor, he looks like something right out of GQ. Unfortunately, she is all novacained up and drooling. The next time, she's frazzled, covered in paint, and dragging home a snake. Somehow he still stops to talk to her, no matter how much of a walking disaster she looks. What's that all about?
This is three loosely-tied one-shots full of humor and warmth and yes, pining. (Mmmm, pining.) Bonus: there's at least two other authors who penned their own sequels, so you can explore even more! Note: the last story of the series is rated E.

I always enjoy modern AUs that show us not only Jyn and Cassian, but the rest of Rogue One becoming part of their lives. This one features Baze, Chirrut, and Bodhi as part of Jyn's life already, and they are all firmly of the opinion that Cassian should join it too.

Of all the ways to meet your newest neighbor, getting stuck together in the terrible glitchy elevator wasn't what Cassian would have picked. And yet their enforced proximity proves to be the pathway to a connection he never expected.
Oooooo man. Trapped in an elevator is a wonderful trope for fanfic. In real life of course, you'd probably just have a boring and mildly uncomfortable hour or so, but in this story (and most fanfics featuring it), the situation is the perfect opportunity for intimacy to blossom between two lonely people.
