If anyone ever says Lilly Moscovitz is a bad friend, they did not watch the movie. Lilly watches her best friend get ignored at best and bullied at worst by the kids in school. Lilly notices her best friend become distant and flaky, is clearly hiding things, and then drastically change her appearance, to look a lot like her bullies might i add! Perhaps she didn’t confront Mia perfectly, but keep in mind they’re literal teenagers. Lilly lashed out because she was hurt, which doesn’t excuse it, but she is a human being, emotional teenager, and someone whose best friend is rapidly changing for seemingly no reason in front of her eyes. When Mia goes to school with her new look and everyone starts pointing it out and picking on her, Lilly brings the attention away from Mia because she knows the attention makes Mia uncomfortable.

Then, after her secret is revealed, Mia blows off Lilly AND Michael to hang out WITH HER BULLIES. Lilly (and Michael) have every right to be pissed, dammit, but you can’t say she’s a bad friend!
