[🧡(Clanwide)- Who in the Clan has the most interesting (relationship with) gender? Whether that be xenogenders or something else.] I'd love to know! Especially since there is a new adult to the mix, and Dustypaw who has grown up without anyone his age, and only 3 other adults, is getting older and stuff too!
hello! i'm going to do more their relationship with gender roles since they're all cis 😭 (except one of the kits but that'll be a surprise for later)
hawthornstar: hawthorn is very connected to her femininity and the more traditional roles that a woman would play in the clan. being a mother is something that she feels is very important to being a woman, though her relationship with this is complicated by her sexuality (aroace) and the fact that she has low fertility. she has only had one biological kit (furzekit), but has essentially adopted dustypaw. had the disaster not happened, hawthorn likely would have been happiest as a permanent queen, helping with the kits. hawthorn also feels that one of the roles that a woman holds is being the emotional center. we can see this in the aftermath of the disaster where she is the one single-handedly taking care of the clan physically and emotionally without taking time to process her own feelings. she has continued this trend and has continued to play the role of emotional support for the other three (all men). we will have to see how things change with another woman around!
frostfire: frost is (unfortunately) a product of toxic masculinity. he is emotionally immature and will avoid engaging with difficult or complex emotions to a point of detriment. he feels that as a man, his role is to provide physically for the clan- whether that is by hunting or patrolling or fighting. he holds some misogynistic views of women, as we saw with the last few pages. we will get further into this as time goes on because he holds some very conflicting views on how women should act and what their roles are
swarmwatcher: swarm is also a product of toxic masculinity as far as emotional stunting and reliance on women for emotional support. his relationship with masculinity differs from frost in that swarm's baseline respect for women is higher (he would never call a woman a whore lmao). he is also more comfortable with being perceived as more feminine, as he is in a traditionally caretaking role with being a healer
dustypaw: this poor boy is picking up all the emotional stunting and bad habits that the clan has to offer. he relies on hawthorn for emotional support and regulation which is appropriate to a point, as he is still a child. however, he is learning that men are not expected to learn how to manage their own emotions and that they should repress their feelings at all times. dusty's relationship with masculinity is still in development, but is on track to follow frost and swarm
lilyglade: our newbie! i'll be so real i don't think lily has ever considered her gender any deeper than knowing that she's a woman lmao. as far as her views on gender roles, she differs from the main clan in that she was not raised with those traditional roles. i will leave it here because we will get more into her mind, which i'm quite excited for ^^
