Useful for full or partial shade is the autumn flowering Liriope muscari (big blue lilyturf). This evergreen tuberous perennial forms a dense clump of narrow, leathery leaves which is a low-maintenance ground cover. It is tolerant of drought and is suitable for growing beneath trees and shrubs.

Botany and trash cans always make for a fun combination. This elegant white can is located on the bridge between Disney's Beach Club Resort and the International Gateway. Planted on top is lilyturf, which is neither a true grass nor a lily. Often you'll hear this plant referred to as "monkey grass." Sometimes, you'll spot other colorful plants on top. // Walt Disney World, Disney's Beach Club Resort, 2021 [Source: Disney Planted. Used by permission.]
