Ning Yingying wrenched her hair between her fingers, watching the water slip through and down her arm.

She’d fallen into the pound. How could she be so clumsy!

Looking across her shoulder, she saw someone else emerge from the water.

“I’m sorry!” She exclaimed, extending her hard to help the other girl up.

“It’s alright.” The other girl looked up, and Ning Yingying’s mind froze.

Wow, she’s really pretty.

Pretty girl took her hand, lifting her body out of the water. Ning Yingying could feel the blush rushing to her face as she admired the girl.

“Ah, are you ok?” Ning Yingying said. Pretty girl nodded in response.

Even though she was drenched to the bone, Pretty girl’s robes still bore Xian Shu’s signature purple. The wet silk cling to her skin and- oh, Ning Yingying averted her eyes.

“I’m Liu Mingyan, what’s your name?”

“I’m Ning Yingying. Nice to meet you!”

The two shook hands and parted ways. But many years down the line, when this first meeting would have faded to merely an echo of an emotion, those hands would be intertwined till the end.
