Jack had a plan. A plan to take over Hell. A plan to wipe Crowley and his family off the map. He appeared in the room with Crowley’s 12 year old son, Logan, and grinned. “Hello Logan.”
Logan turned and looked up to see Jack. He smiled and turned his body completely “hey Jack” he beamed up at the demon.
Jack walked closer and ruffled Logan’s hair. “And how is my favorite little half demon?”
Logan squirmed and huffed as he moved his head away with a giggle. He stood up and shrugged his shoulders “Dad says I have to stay in my room so I’m bored” he frowned.
“What does your mother think?” Jack tilted his head.
Logan huffed and sat down again “Mum grounded me because I was bad” he mumbled.
Jack pulled a sympathetic face. “Well he’s right you know? But guess what? Uncle Jack has a surprise for you.” his face pulled up into a Cheshire Cat grin.
Logan smiled and narrowed his eyes at him “oh really… what is it?” he asked
Jack ruffled Logan’s hair again. “You know how to get to the throne room, yes?”
Logan smiled and stood up again “well duh! that’s why I got grounded” he sniggered and reached up to Jacks ear “I sneaked in when Dad said I wasn’t allowed” he chuckled.
Jack grinned down at the kid. “Go now. I’ll talk to your mom and be there in just a moment.”
There was no reason for Logan not to trust Jack so he did as he was told. The way Jack was talking it seemed like it was going to be fun. Logan nodded and disappeared, re-appearing behind the throne. He listened for a moment and heard no voices which meant Crowley wasn’t there. He poked his head around the chair to confirm his suspicions and when he saw an empty room he sat down on the throne and waited for Jack.
A few minutes later voices could be heard coming towards the room.
Logan frowned and jumped down of the throne, looking at the door to the room.
Three demons walked in and started looking around. “Where the hell is he?” The female one growled.
Logan ran back to hide behind the throne.
Seconds later Crowley appeared and snagged one of them by the shoulder, pinning them to the wall. “Where’s my son!?” He snarled, his eyes flashing red.
Logan had never seen his father get like this. Every since Ari told Crowley that she was pregnant he had become this reserved man who took care of his business in time for dinner and came home to the family. He always seemed so calm now.
Logan peered around from behind the throne “Dad” he said shakily.
Crowley turned fully around, his face softening when he noticed Logan. Crowley did this thing now where his lips would slowly curl up into a smile and the wrinkles on the side of his clear blue eyes would crinkle.
Crowley looked good for being 43, his hair just slightly grayed and his dark stubble freckled with random grey hairs. It only added to to the respect most gave him. He looked so kind and wise.
In a split second one of the demons stabbed him in the chest with a demon blade. Before Logan could even cry out Jack appeared behind him and covered his mouth, holding up a finger to his own mouth to tell Logan to stay silent. “Stay hidden. I’ll take care of them.” He whispered as Crowley slumped to the floor, a bright orange flash going off under his skin as his body went limp. Jack took hardly any time in killing the three demons before he turned to Logan. “What have you done?” He whispered.
Logan slowly stood and looked at his fathers body on the floor. He took in a sharp breath and his words were stuck in his throat. He walked over and knelt by Crowley’s body, reaching a hand to shake his arm. “Dad” he whispered, voice cracking. “Dad… don’t be dead… please, I didn’t” he stopped and looked at Jack. ” I didn’t want that to happen” he mumbled.
Jack shook his head. “They won’t understand…they’ll blame you.” Jack shook his head. “Logan…you have to run. Run away and never come back. You caused the death of the king!”
Logan shook his head as the tears begun to run down his cheeks “But what about my mum” he whispered, still clinging to Crowley’s body.
“She’ll think you did it. There is nothing left for you here!” Jack said sadly. “They’ll have you executed for murder.”
Logan wiped his eyes and stood up as he nodded. “but… where should I go?”
“Somewhere where they can’t find you! Stay away from your mother and Hell!” He said in a hurried voice as he heard someone coming. “Run! Someone’s coming!”
Logan panicked and hugged Jack quickly before disappearing. He appeared in central park, New York city. After finding something to eat, he went to sleep on a park bench. Tear stains on his shirt and red puffy eyes.
Lucius nudged Adam and frowned. “Hey. You see that kid over there? He looks upset.”
Adam looked up from his paper and looked across the street. “I’m sure his parents will be here soon” he stated and pretended to look back to his paper, but he was looking over the top at the child on the bench.
Lucius leaned forward and narrowed his eyes slightly. “He’s not human.” He said under his breath, the temperature dropping.
Adam frowned and looked at Lucius “well what is he smarty pants… there are no demons that young”
“He’s a half blood.” Lucius tilted his head.
Adam rolled his eyes and pushed his paper in to Lucius lap. He stood up and smoothed his shirt down “well then come on” he teased and started to walk over to the young boy on the bench.
Lucius crouched down beside Logan and smiled. “Are you alright?”
Logan jumped up and pushed away from Lucius straight in to Adam who was sitting on the bench.
“hey kid” smiled Adam. Adam had always had a way with kids, demon or human he had a knack for helping them feel safe.
Logan looked between them seeming very scared.
Lucius raised an eyebrow. “Don’t worry kid! We’re one of you.” Lucius grinned up at him and his eyes flashed white very briefly.
Logan bit his lip and looked up at lucius “Are you… are you going to kill me” he mumbled looking very ashamed.
Adam frowned and looked up at Lucius as he tilted his head.
“Ummmm…no…where are your parents?” Lucius glanced at Adam with a frown.
Logan narrowed his eyes at lucius as he realised the two men had no idea who he was. “I erm… I ran away” he whispered.
Lucius shrugged. “Yeah. I ran away too. So did Adam but he ran away from someone important. I’m sure you’ve heard of the king? Adam used to be his best friend ohhh…15 years ago?”
Adam frowned at Lucius for mentioning the fight.
Logan turned to Adam “you knew erm… Crowley” he asked cautiously.
Adam sighed and looked down at Logan “yeah but it was a long time ago. I haven’t seen him since… well… almost 15 years exactly” he looked away as old memories rose to the surface.
“Why’d you run away?” asked Logan.
Lucius frowned, realizing he’d messed up. “Mr. Crowley was going through a rough spot in his life and Adam tried to help him but Crowley didn’t want it. Basically Crowley told Adam to leave him alone and Adam ran. A few weeks later I found this fluffy fool.” Lucius grinned.
Adam rolled his eyes and pushed Lucius playfully in the arm “I am not fluffy you dick” he chuckled.
Logan giggled and looked between them “can I erm… Can I hang with you guys?” he asked and bit his lip.
“I don’t have a problem letting another stray in.” Lucius said with a huge smile.
Logan looked at him with genuine grattitude “I’m Logan” he held his hand out, but panicked a little realising he should have given a false name to be safe.
Adam smiled at Lucius and looked down at Logans hand.
Lucius shook Logan’s hand. “Nice to meet you, Logan. My name is Lucius.”
Logan smiled and turned to Adam. They shook hands and Logan sat down next to him.
They lived together happily for 10 years.
Marry, Logan’s childhood friend and daughter of Dean and Maggie, was walking through the supermarket looking for salt when she saw a face that looked quite familiar. “Excuse me?” She asked, walking up behind the man who was about her age. “Do I know you?” She asked with a slight tilt of her head.
Logan turned around with a smile and packet of biscuits in his hand. The smile fell when he saw Mary “Erm… no sorry” he said slightly panicked, and turned to walk away.
“No! You’re Logan! Logan Crowley!” She demanded, snagging his arm.
Logan turned and hushed his voice “get your hands off me, you have me confused with somebody else”
Marry let go but stayed close to him, her eyes cast down and full of tears. “Jack is holding Ari in Hell. She’s miserable, Logan. Why did you leave?” She looked back up to him as a tear slid down her cheek. “Your mother was a good woman. She didn’t deserve to lose you and your father in the same day. But you’re still alive and buying biscuits…I took you for a better person than that.”
Logan took in a sharp breath and looked away as he swallowed “I had to leave. I can’t… I can’t tell you why, just trust me ok?” he begged
Marry narrowed her eyes slightly. “You have to go back. Jack’s ruined the entire place. Earth is crawling with demons. There is no order anymore and your mother is caught in the middle of it. He hurts her, Logan, and there is nothing me or my parents can do about it. We’ve tried. I wanted to get her out.”
Logan frowned and moved away “No… No Jack would never do that! he saved my life”
“Logan, don’t be stupid. Go look for yourself.”
“I can’t go back Mary why can’t you see that” he snapped. “everyone thinks I killed my father, they would kill me for it” he mumbled.
“Nobody thinks you killed Crowley! He was murdered by three demons! Why would they think that?”
Logan dropped the biscuits as everything started to dawn on him “Jack he… he said that I would get the blame… that mum would blame me for dad’s death”
“Jack told you…Jack told you it was your fault?” Marry frowned.
“He came to visit me when I was kid. He said he had a surprise for me if I went to the throne room. I heard a group of demons coming and I hide behind the throne, then my dad showed up. He looked so angry… he was shouting at them, telling them to tell him where I was. I called him and he turned around and smiled at me” Logan stopped as he remembered the smile. “Those smiles he saved for me and mum ya’know” he smiled. “Then a demon stabbed him… Jack was there holding my mouth before I screamed and he killed the demons… then he said I had to run and never look back” Logan wiped his eyes as he recounted the ordeal he hadn’t thought about in 10 years.
Marry paled a second and frowned. “He tricked you, took over the throne, and then he captured your mother.” She shook her head. “Logan, you have to go back.”
Logan frowned and shook his head “and do what? I can’t run Hell, I’m not my father”
“You can learn. From what I understand your father wasn’t perfect. Not until he had a family to raise.”
“I don’t have a family to raise” he mumbled. “I can’t run hell, I wouldn’t know how to. And how would you expect me to get rid of Jack?”
“It’s your responsibility, Logan! He’s going to kill Ari if you don’t. He’s going to kill her and destroy Hell.” She snapped.
Logan frowned at her “My mother can handle herself when it comes to demons she will be fine. And I have no responsibilities…” Logan picked up his biscuits and hesitated before looking at her. “It was nice seeing you again” he mumbled and then he walked away quickly before she could grab him again.
Lucius was wearing a pink apron and making burgers.
Logan appeared in the kitchen and dumped the biscuits on the side. He slumped in to the couch with a face like a wet weekend.
Lucius glanced over his shoulder at Logan with a frown. “You alright, kiddo?”
Logan crossed his arms “No” he mumbled.
Adam looked up from his paper and glanced at Lucuis.
Lucius turned off the stove and walked over to Logan, sitting down beside him. “What’s wrong?”
Logan looked up at him with the start of tears “I haven’t been entirely honest with you guys” he frowned and looked at Adam.
Lucius frowned and took his apron off. “What do you mean?”
Logan took in a breath and avoided looking at Adam “my name is Logan Crowley… I ran away when my father was murdered in front of me”
Lucius narrowed his eyes in thought and glanced at Adam out of the corner of his eye.
Adam’s breath hitched and he was suddenly in front off him “what did you just say” he growled. Logan looked at Adam seeming slightly scared “I err… I ran away… when my dad was murdered in front of me” He whispered.
Lucius placed a hand on Adam’s shoulder. “Ads it’s okay.” He whispered.
Adam shrugged him off and pulled Logan up by the collar of his shirt “no it’s not you little brat! Why the hell didn’t you tell us you were Crowley’s son” he yelled.
Logans eyes went wide and his throat dried up. He’d never seen Adam so mad and it scared him half to death.
Lucius pulled Adam off of Logan. “Adam! Stop.” He growled.
Adam’s breathing was heavy and erratic ”He is dead Lucius… Crowley is dead and I didn’t fix it before….” Adam broke down and slid down agaisnt the wall.
Logan stood rooted to the spot and watched them.
Lucius kneeled beside Adam and pulled him into a hug. “I don’t think Crowley had many harsh feelings towards you, Adam. I’m sure he respected you in the end for helping get his life back on track…he probably just couldn’t find you.” Lucius said softly.
Adam buried his head in Lucuis’s neck as a few tears ran down his face. ” What if he hated me” he mumbled.
Logan hesitated before knelling down with them. “I ran in to an old friend today. Mary Winchester. Turns out a guy named Jack tricked me in to running away and now has my mother as a prisoner and had ruined all of Hell” he laughed sarcastically trying to hide the conflict and fear he felt.
Lucius rubbed Adam’s back. “He didn’t. I promise.” When Logan refered to Jack and Ari Lucius’ eyes flashed white. “He has Ari?” He growled.
Adam sniffed and looked to Logan “You need to go back” he said flatly.
Logan shook his head “I-I can’t go back now. I don’t even… What could I do, I’m nothing like my father” he frowned.
Lucius stood up and slapped Logan across the face. “You need to man up and go take Hell. You think your father was perfect at it? No! He did a shit job at first, almost wrecked the entire place, drank angel blood and almost died, but he maned up and did what he had to do in the end and that’s how you become a great king.”
Logan looked at Lucuis shocked and held his cheek. “I’m not powerful enough to take Hell back, I would just get me and my mum killed for sure” he snapped. Logan frowned slightly and looked between them “He… he drank angel blood?” he asked looking confused.
Lucius nodded. “Your dad was hanging around with the wrong crowd. That’s what Adam and his fight was over. Adam tried to tell him that it was killing him and driving your mother away but Crowley wouldn’t listen.” Lucius shook his head. “Then Ari told Crowley she was pregnant and he cleaned up for you and set himself straight…but it was too late for Crowley and Adam. Adam had already left.”
Adam closed his eyes and leaned against Lucuis again “that idiot” he whispered.
Logan swallowed as he remembered his father and that smile. “But even if I did… I can’t do it on my own”
Lucius stared at Logan for a few seconds. “I’m going with you. I want to help you in any way.”
Adam nodded and looked up again “Me too… I want Jack of that throne. And I want to atleast apologise to Ari”
Logan bit his lip and looked away “Mary might help too I guess… But I don’t want any of you getting hurt because of me” he exclaimed.
Lucius grinned. “I think I can handle Old Jack.” Lucius chuckld.
Logan smiled softly and suddenly pulled them in to a hug. He angled towards Adam so he could whisper in his ear “You pretty much raised me as your kid… My dad forgave you a long time ago”
