shameless analysis

Frank- a drunk and drug user that cares more about that and his Monica baby mama then his kids, makes them then leave unless he needs something from them. Doesn’t work doesn’t contribute to society in any way possible. Has gotten his kids into the shit most parent won’t like debts from drug dealers etc. in the end HE NEVER CARED. But he did say thank you once and it was a bs thank you to Fiona she deserved such a better thank you from him.

Monica- Bipolar drug addict, a drunk, she seems to care about her children when she was on her meds but off them? She often misused their money on unnecessary items instead of bills, food, and clothes. She cares but not enough to take care of her kid’s which still makes her a shitty person. She also goes through boyfriends like someone changes their clothes. Her kids can’t ever trust that she’ll stay they don’t even call her mom.

Fionia- the first born, we don’t know much about her early years but we do know that by 6 years old frank and Monica left her with Ian and lip without a care of the world only one for drugs and alcohol. Her mother cause her to have wild impulses and like her mother she went through guys easily too although she tried to stay with them unlike her mother. She an alcoholic like both of her parents and dabbles in coke eventually hurting liam with it by leaving it out and going to jail sadly. Thankfully UNLIKE her parents she decided to say fuck that and get clean and better her life for herself. She works etc and contributes to society while going to aa etc.

Lip- 2nd born, grew up to become an angry person for the most part getting this from his dad, he becomes an acholic like his parents but the difference with lip is compared to ALL of them is that he wants to change. He is the one who takes cares of his siblings when no one else can. he is one of the smartest kids in the neighborhood and could’ve gone somewhere big if it wasn’t for his fucked-up family. He stole but mostly when needed. He was the MOST normal out of them all. He just wanted good for his family even though he made a few mistakes with hard choices he had to made once he became a father. Unlike him he was around and changed himself for the better. So even tho he wanted to sell the house at the end of the day he was still the one that cared the most.

Ian- Ian, the middle child, resembles his mother but differs greatly from their father, Frank, who is not his biological father. This analysis is based on Ian's upbringing. For frank his main thing is his use of pot and drinking but otherwise he’s not much like frank even with frank being the parent figure around him he still ended up mostly just like Monica. He’s bipolar and frequently changes partners but always returns to one person (like Mickey for him, or Frank for Monica). His mental illness explains much of his illegal behavior. I would say he’s one of the most normal Gallagher if you excuse the going to jail and stealing an army base equipment on his mental illness, if not then he’s just as crazy and psychotic as Monica truly.

Debbie- truly an impulsive person acts purely based on emotion and not thought. She most likes frank and Monica both this way. Both tended to act solely on their emotions. She became kind of psychotic and tries a few different drugs but overall she isn’t an addict she is one who isn’t always drinking in scenes and overall, she just makes bad decisions when it comes to guys which is why she gets a lot of hate. I think she needed to be single for most of it but I hated that they always made her do something crazy with some guy she was wrong for using Neal like that and Derek. I truly believe she was the one of 2 least destructive to the society of their community though.

Carl- harmed animals as a child, but later saved some during his military training as a teenager. He’s sadly the least intelligent of the group but has some decent street skills that help him in some situations. The ways hes like his parents Is his insane ways of thinking. He kidnaps a meth user to get him cleaned and then he was able to sell all his mom’s drugs for their inheritance money with almost zero problems until Monica fucked them over even while dead. He consistently secured employment but, like Frank, he never remained in one position long enough to experience professional growth. I think carl isn’t an alcoholic, but he did start drinking at such a young age and that’s bc of frank and Monica, he never stayed anywhere because of them and didn’t believe in himself bc of them.

Liam-just overall very confused about his life and where he belongs and this is because frank and Monica never taught him where he is from and we truly didn’t see a lot of Liam and what he does to society, but he seems to be the least problematic. Liam struggled to belong, but he felt loved by his siblings. He never done drugs beside the time Fiona left coke out and Liam got into it by accident as a toddler. He doesn’t drink so he doesn’t feel like he truly fits in with his family. He doesn't know Monica, so he's not like her. He is also very different from Frank, being more serious about things.
