Piper later finds out the reason her mother hates Leo's father is because they too used to be lovers. It all gets messy from there.

-princess Piper is a tomboy and has been best friends with the king’s royal blacksmith’s son Leo Valdez since they were babies

-Leo’s mom, Esperanza, was Piper’s mother, Aphrodite’s, hand maiden and often brought Leo along with her

-Liper grew up to be best friends

-Piper is set up in an arrange marriage to marry the Prince of a neighboring kingdom, Prince Jason

-she voices her opinions, her anger, and her fears to best friend, Leo

-Leo reassures her that everything is going to be okay because despite being in love with best friend, Leo only wants Piper to be happy. And Prince Jason will make Piper happy

-Besides, Princesses are supposed to marry Princes, not their royal blacksmith best friends
