OUR BUDS OVER @lipsrecords THREW TOGETHER A BEAUT OF A SONG WITH @brimstoneblondes FRONTMAN MATTHEW DANGER.
Think ~~~~power pop bratty glam trash~~~~
Hooks are everywhere. Scrappy guitar tones, yamaha keyboard drums, and a bunch of handclaps. Also check the bass lines by the master Justin Ford.
“hooked to the candelabras and the night time friends/a cloud comin’ over the line where the horizon ends/you always keep me waiting for you”
Danger outdid himself on that one.
New demo from my dude, Jacob, of Lips Records / Local Onlys / Wylie Something
Some days, you just get sick of work. You don’t exactly hate it; you’re just really sick of it. Minotaur by Thee Oh Sees captures that precise feeling with a bittersweet melody plodding along with the same reluctance as getting up at 8:15 for your 9-5.
When Thee Oh Sees tone things back from screeching feedback and heavy delayed vocals, they can make some really beautiful songs. Listen to the cello lines John Dwyer pulls off. Incredible. And the video adds to the weight of the song. It really makes me feel things. He’s just a minotaur doing his job.
