BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: Hiatus, the Liquid Sunlight Finale, & Important Dates!

My beautiful readers💖

I need to have a very transparent, slightly chaotic, but mostly exciting heart-to-heart with all of you. 🥹

The Short Version: All fanfic updates are going on a temporary hiatus until April 13th.

The Long Version (and why I am currently fighting for my life): As many of you know, my debut original novel, Liquid Sunlight, is officially launching on April 17th! To make that happen, my final deadline to submit the finished, formatted manuscript is April 13th.

Here's the problem: A massive portion of the dialogue in this book is written in Bahamian dialect. My current editor is doing their absolute best, but they are understandably struggling with the dialect and the rhythm of the language.

With the deadline breathing down my neck, there just isn't enough time (or budget) to find and onboard a Bahamian editor. That means I have to step in and do it myself to make sure the voice of this world is completely flawless. 😭

I have to give this my all, which means my brain has zero capacity for anything else right now. I am so incredibly sorry to disappoint those of you who have been waiting for updates!

What This Means for the Fanfic Version of Liquid Sunlight:

Originally, I planned for the fanfic to have three more chapters. Because time is running out, I'm going to condense all of that remaining plot into one massive, final chapter (to be posted sometime between April 13 to April 15). I don't know exactly how chaotic the pacing will be, but I promised you guys a proper, emotional conclusion to Akaza and Leila’s love story, and I absolutely intend to deliver!

CRITICAL INFO: The Takedown Date

Because the original novel is officially being published, the fanfic version of Liquid Sunlight legally has to be scrubbed from the internet.

The fic will be permanently deleted everyhere on April 16th.

HOWEVER! You can absolutely download the fic directly from AO3 till then to keep for your own personal reading pleasure!

PLEASE NOTE: Once you download it, please do not repost it anywhere on the internet or on any social platforms, as there will be strict legal consequences attached to the published copyright of the original book. (And please do inform me if you happen to spot anyone posting it anywhere🙏🏾).

WE DID IT! Liquid Sunlight is officially published on Amazon! ☀️🌊

Ya girl is a published author now, and I honestly can't believe my dream came true. Little me would be in absolute disbelief that we actually wrote and published an original book. I’m so incredibly proud of myself for taking this leap, and I feel like I've written something that not only makes me proud, but will make my family, my friends, and all of you proud, too!

I truly couldn't have done this without you believing in me. You gave me the courage.

When I first got back into writing after going through a really bad time back in March of 2024, it was just a way to cope. I was so terrified to even publish on AO3 and Tumblr—I genuinely thought no one would care about my story (shoutout to Steadfast Hearts and Levi x Tiana!). But a dear friend read the massive Google Doc I had been hoarding, loved it, and pushed me to share it with the world. Eventually, I took the plunge in September 2024 when I made my Tumblr, AO3, and then eventually my Patreon.

Then, I got to connect with all of you.

Hearing how my stories affected you, made you happy, and brightened your days changed everything for me. It made me realize that the stories I wrote from places of pain and isolation could be alchemized into joy and wonderful emotions for others. Something just clicked in my brain that my purpose is to use my writing to make people feel joy and evoke emotions and thoughts that sometimes can't be reached on their own.

I am so eternally grateful to you guys. You have no idea, and no amount of words will ever be able to convey it.

I hope you enjoy Liquid Sunlight. I hope you fall deeply in love with Naomi and Ezra, as well as my other characters. I hope you get swept away by the world, the lore, and my Bahamian culture! I hope this book makes you feel everything and makes you think about the complexities of this bizarre, wonderful world we live in. I love you all so much!

"Life was Life-In": Publishing Update & Beta Reader Call 🙃

Hey my loves! Just wanna give a quick update. I probably won't get to post any regular fanfic updates until later this week unfortunately.

It's absolute crunch time for Liquid Sunlight, I have exactly a month left until publishing day, and I feel like there's still so much left to do!

I originally wanted to reveal the book cover to you all tomorrow on the 17th, but due to some logistical hiccups... that's just not gonna happen. The first artist I commissioned tried to give me a glaringly obvious AI cover that looked tacky 🙄 and the second one literally forgot until I checked in with him after not receiving the first draft after a week and his actual excuse was "Sorry, life was life-in"

(I couldn't make this shit up if I tried 🙃).

So now I'm working with a third artist who has been absolutely amazing and completely gets my vision, but he won't have the final cover ready until later this month. 😭

But hey, delayed is not denied! I cannot wait to finally share it with you all.

Also, I know I’ve reached out privately to a handful of you to ask if you’d be willing to be beta readers, but I am looking for a few more! Please let me know if you're interested (I want to start sending copies out by the end of this week ideally!).

Because you all read the original fanfic version of Liquid Sunlight and know the exact dynamic between Akaza and Leila, I trust your eyes as beta readers so much more than someone who has never read the fanfic.

UPDATE: A Deep Breath, A Slight Pivot, & NEW DATES! 🌊✨

Remember in my last post when I told you I was fighting for my life in the editing cave? Well...I'm still fighting for my life😭

But I am making progress!!!!

However I do have to push back my publishing date form April 17th to April 24th, I just wasn't going to make that deadline in time 😭

It's frustrating, but this book is my entire heart, and the cultural dialect requires so much care. I refuse to rush this just to hit a terrifying deadline. Taking this extra week means I can protect my sanity and give you the best version of this story.

Here is the silver lining for you guys—ALL the dates are shifting back, which gives you more time!

I did promise you guys fanfic updates will continue from April 13th (today) and I intend to deliver as much as a can. ("Conquered" in coming by the end of the day, and "Muzan's Heart" tomorrow)

The Liquid Sunlight Fanfic Finale: The final chapter will now be posted somewhere between April 21st and April 23rd.

The Takedown Date: The fanfic will now remain up for an extra week! It will be permanently deleted everywhere on April 24th (the day before the official book launch).

You still have plenty of time to download the AO3 version for your personal archives! (And the same rules apply: absolutely no reposting anywhere, please and thank you 🙏🏾).

Thank you all for being so incredibly patient, understanding, and supportive while I navigate the absolute chaos of indie publishing my debut novel. The finish line is just a tiny bit further away, but we are going to cross it together!!

Hey everyone!

I want to share something I've been pouring myself into for the last six weeks. I was accepted into a publishing incubator, and tomorrow my work goes on display in an exhibit!

I got to create three physical artifacts from the universe of Liquid Sunlight.

Two zines and a chapbook, each one pulled from inside the world:

A "Notice of Inquiry": a period wanted poster for Naomi herself

A love letter from Ezra to Naomi: the words he could never send

"What Is A Blue Hole?": a chapbook written in the voice of the villain

Getting to take this world out of the book and into something you can hold has been such a wild, surreal joy.

Seeing it all set up on the table tonight kind of made me want to cry. 😭

It's also why I've been so MIA💀

Before I say anything else, I just want to give a massive THANK YOU to everyone who has supported the release and bought the book so far! I’ve been obsessively checking my Kindle dashboard, and seeing the "pages read" tab ticking up every single time I hit refresh is the most amazing feeling in the world lol! I am so happy, and I really, truly hope you are enjoying Naomi and Ezra's journey.

A few of you have been DMing me asking: Will I be writing fanfiction for Liquid Sunlight?

The answer is YES! (I've honestly already started lol).

But I won't be posting them until late May or early June, just to give everyone plenty of time to finish the book and understand the story without any spoilers. Think of these "fanfics" like anime OVAs! They’ll be fun extras featuring more lore on certain characters, behind-the-scenes moments, and some wild "what if" scenarios. As we get deeper into the year, I’ll even start taking requests from you guys on what kind of LS fics you want to read!

And in other news:

~ My AOT fanfics will be starting up again very soon!

~ New chapters for Conquered and Muzan's Heart will be posted by the end of the day today!
