3- a headcanon that canon doesn't disprove
Look... I’m still firmly in the “Yang is the best cook of team RWBY” camp, and I refuse to budge, no matter what the comics say. I’m gonna chalk up that one comic scene where she burns dinner as her nerves acting up cause that was basically a non-official date with Blake, but otherwise? Yang is an excellent cook, though not as good a baker as Ruby. Tai taught her everything she knows, but she also really enjoys just... being creative in the kitchen, and coming up with a new blend of spices, or adding a new ingredient that works surprisingly well.
Tai’s mother, her grandmother, who she never knew, left a huge handwritten book of familial recipes, and Yang loves looking though some of them until she’s inspired by one. Then she follows it, more or less, usually adjusting quantities or substituting ingredients with what she has, and the results range from... hot damn (flammable) to hot damn! (delicious).
Also she loves feeding people! She’ll notice Ruby is having a hard time at school, and make her her favorite sandwich for lunch (one with that extra spicy mayo that Ruby loves and everyone else despises). She knows when it’s Weiss’s birthday, and always makes her a special dinner, with like 5 different courses - one of them can only be spelled in the remnant equivalent of french - and is very proud when Weiss can’t shut up about how good everything tastes. When she notices Blake getting too wrapped up in whatever problem is on their plate at the moment, she’ll grab Blake by the shoulders and direct her to the kitchen and sit her down on a stool and make her a tuna melt and a bowl of tomato soup and she’ll watch, arms crossed, while Blake eats her first real meal in three days.
Food is one of Yang’s love languages and if canon ever contradicts me I will simply close my eyes.
