Devin had called her the other day to fill her on every and float the idea of Luke staying with him for a while. She wasn't entirely thrilled with the idea and the fight they had over it had not been a pretty one.

“You think?” Cael drawled lazily, nuzzling at Lissa and snuggling closer, wrapping his arms around her more tightly. “Well then I guess it’s a good thing I think I’m fallin’ in love with you too, hm?”
“In my defense, I’ve never been in love before so how the hell would I know for sure?” she groused, feigning a pout as she pressed against him more firmly. “Good. I’d hate to have to kick your ass.”

Lissa didn’t exactly bring friends around the warehouse, and with good reason mostly. Devin tended to scare them off pretty easily, but she figured it wouldn’t be as much of an issue with Lex. He was closer in age to her, not really the strung out type or one to steal what little shit they had, and, quite frankly, he wasn’t a dick.
“Dev, my friend Lex is crashing here for the night. Try not to be a complete dick while I’m out. m’kay?” she warned as she grabbed a cookie and darted around her brother. “Lex! Devin doesn’t bite but if he gives you any shit, let me know and I’ll kick him in the balls, ‘kay?” The words were punctuated with a kiss to the blonde’s cheek before she was slipping out the door and down the fire escape before either of them could stop her, leaving a very perplexed Devin staring at an unfamiliar kid.
“Should I apologize for her or are you used to her bullshit?”

“Oh my god, you actually think I give a fuck? Really? After what you put him through, you have the audacity to call me?” It was laughable, really, but Lissa knew he wasn’t going to buy her bullshit show. She had always had a soft spot for Zayde, even after how things had ended between him and her brother. She wouldn’t have answered the phone otherwise.
“Look, we’re not even in that state anymore, Zayde. We’re in some backwoods, middle of fuck all, ghost town bar in Nevada. So, really, I don’t know what you expect me to do.”
“I’ve been shot and stabbed and poked and prodded and electrocuted. There really isn’t much you or anyone else could do that’s worse than that.”

Devin had gone on a food run, needing to get whatever it was he ate after playing blood donor to her. Talyse was supposed to be over soon and she could only guess he figured Zayde would be asleep a little while longer. He had been doing a shitty job of hiding the fact that boy was even there.
She wasn’t supposed to be out of bed, but Lissa was tired of hearing them argue and the stench of despair and depression wasn’t easy to deal with in her current state either.
“What in the actual fuck is wrong with you?” she growled from the doorway, blocking his only viable escape as she glared at him. There was no way she was going to be delicate about any of this, but he should have already known how blunt she was.

“So you’re the dude my brother’s fucking. I figured you’d at least be cute,” she snarled, giving the other a quick once over. Of all the reasons to force her to stay in the same city for longer than a few weeks, Lissa hadn’t been expecting Devin to be choosing some guy.
