I‘m still so tired 😭 but luckily today is a regional celebratory day to celebrate the end of the Nazi-Regime here in Berlin.
And I‘m old enough to remember the great fall of the famous wall. It was shown all over TV in 1989.
I didn’t understood it back then (of course, I was smol🥺) but I remember how the news reported about it. How they showed people climbing the falling parts, how heavy machines dragging down the wall part by part.
It was truly a great day for reuniting all parts of Germany again.
I also remember, that my father had a letter friendship with on guy in the DDR and we visited them after the Fall, once the borders were open.
The first and only time I drove in a Trabbi. It was horrible 🤣🤣 and I also recall that his kids eagerly wanted to drive in our car, a Mercedes.
And I still hear their chanting in my mind „West-Auto fahren, West Auto fahren!“ What translates to „Drive the West-Car.“ because Germany was divided in „East“ (the DDR part) and the „West“ (the Republic).
Some iconic memories.
Now I feel old 🤣
