Sleepless Nights ll AU

       It had been nearly two full weeks of complete cramming. Literal blood, sweat and tears had gone into an hundred page notebook filled with only the basics of anatomy and chemical compounds found in bodily fluids. With the final exam in only four days, Margot felt nowhere close to ready. Coffee, caffeine pills and energy drinks wouldn’t cut it anymore. She needed sleep. The problem was sleep seemed to be playing hard to get. Or more, sleep was hiding from the screams and cries that came from across the hall every other night. 

     It was terrifying at first. The infant shrills coming from who knows where set Margot’s heart into panic. On the off chance she would have the ability to slip into unconsciousness, the screams would wake her with a jolt. It seemed hopeless, the child was taunting her.
