This week's #wcw is a wholly unique #musician and one of my favorites ever, especially for rainy days like this one: #catpower! The first album of hers I bought was 2006's #thegreatest. #rollingstone wrote an article praising her talents, and I just had to check her out. I wasn't disappointed. Much of her music is slow, emotional and simple, but her smoky voice and sometimes brutal lyrics never fail to hold your attention. I admire her for her frank discussions about dealing with alcoholism and depression, too. Her best album is definitely #youarefree, especially because parts of it are uncharacteristically positive and hopeful for Cat Power, but I love #moonpix and #jukebox, too. My favorite songs of hers include #americanflag, #crossbonesstyle, #metalheart, #free, #hewar, #names, #livedinbars, and #newyork. Her last album, 2012's #sun was somewhat disappointing, but I'm hoping she regains her inspiration and releases a new album soon! The world needs you, Cat Power.
