Whilst it’s closer to 10 years now as I head into my 9th season next year, it’s always nice to receive something like this from head office! Who would have thought that when I started working for @goapetribe that it would LITERALLY change my life. This year is my 6th season at Go Ape, and on this World Mental Health Awareness Day, I can’t help but marvel at just how much this job changed my life. When I started, I was lacking self confidence, was shy, would never step up and take the lead, always felt very anxious and just generally more reserved. Fast forward to now and I’m so much more me! I take great pride in helping people overcome their fears, I love to teach new instructors and help them, I am confident in myself as an instructor and know I’m damn good at my job. So much so that I took the leap this year and went for a manager role and actually got the position (Duty manager). Thanks to this job I can now confidently talk on the phone, I would like to think I could be a leader when needed and I’m just such a different person. What a change. And all because of this job. I am so grateful to Tris and Becs for creating the most wonderful company to work for. It truly has changed my life. Today is my work anniversary for Go Ape. Into my 5th season here now and I never knew how much this job would change me as a person. I have learnt how to be confident with customers, talk to people, show compassion and empathy, help others, teach others and along the way I’ve made some amazing friends. I also met the love of my life here which I’ll always be grateful for. It’s been hard at times, and my confidence has taken a battering but this season I’m back to the old me.
