“Artifacts” - 6 x 6" found paper collage on wood panel. This is giveaway 39, yours for the asking, no strings attached—(though I do ask you to pay for shipping if you can’t pick it up). For those of you just tuning in, two months ago I began this project, going through my archive of art works—there are a lot of them—and giving things away. I’ve talked about the personal vulnerability of this act— for example, what if no one wants what I have made? Another aspect of this vulnerability is the security level. Our world and many of our values are organized around competition for resources. We compete for work, for titles, for sales, for marketshare, for “likes”. We learn to associate economic “success” with intrinsic worth. A professional artist that gives away their art—what does that mean about the art? The artist? I can only tell you what it means for me— that through my art and actions I hope to envision the world I want, foster the relationships I want, and move toward the life I want. The bottom line is, I want a world and a life where caring and generosity are bigger motivators than competition. Where those of us with plenty feel more appreciation for what we have than guilt, and there is no shame or risk but only joy in sharing the wealth. . . . #artifacts #livinginthegift #thegift #collage #collageart #abstractart #contemporaryart #CTartist #upcycleart #upcycle #recycleart #artfromtrash #foundpaper #capitalism #honorableharvest #upforgrabs #6x6 #smallart #philosophy #artistthoughts #artasactivism #artivism #quietactivism #artactivism #sharetheweath #artshare #cutpaperart #contemporarycollage #abstractcontemporary #permacultureart https://www.instagram.com/p/CJTc-6gnOGF/?igshid=1rcrl8rdtla3q
