Summary: You were able to join the boys on their trip to New Zealand and comfort Namjoon when he is unable to enjoy the trip due to stress.
Inspired by Bon Voyage S4 : E6 when Namjoon decided to forgo cycling to work and the anonymous request “I was just wondering if I could request a Namjoon/reader oneshot based on the lyric “let them be them, let us be us” from Love Maze.”
Director Junsoo to camp. Namjoon has decided to return to the campsite. Please ensure that the cameras around the site are ready for his arrival. No personnel is required to remain onsite other than camera op one. Once again, Namjoon will be returning to the campsite for the afternoon. Once the site is prepared, no personnel required to remain besides camera op one.
The rise in volume signals the departure of the staff that remained at the cabins for the day. Quiet murmurs spread throughout the common room as the men and women that expected to have the afternoon off to rest and prepare for the rest of their trip find this time put momentarily on hold.
Director Hyangmi veers away from the small group heading toward the door when she sees you standing near the front desk, holding your coffee mug. Moving to meet her halfway, you prepare to ask your question when she interrupts.
“You want to go, don’t you.” It was a statement and not a question. It seems as if she has gotten to know you well as that is exactly what you want. Her face is stern for a moment before it breaks into a small smile. “Give it an hour or so for the camera op to get some footage for the broadcast. After that, you can head that way. While the camera op is there be sure…”
“To remain inconspicuous. The camera shouldn’t see or hear me. Understood!” You give an exaggerated salute.
The director shakes her head as she chuckles, “I’m glad you were able to come along this time, Y/N. We’ll be back shortly.”
You return to your seat near the fireplace and continue to eat your previously forgotten lunch as your mind wanders.
Namjoon has been having a rough time lately. The month-long break was meant to be a time for the band and company members alike to recharge and refocus themselves: go on trips, visit friends and family, eat whatever they want, sleep the day away. While on paper and in the headlines this seems like a fantastic idea, for a person like Namjoon, it was a struggle. He had been working almost without pause for nearly ten years. His love and dedication to his work is something that he takes pride in, even when it is at its most challenging. So to have a month where the expectations are not for him to produce content but to stay out of the studio, it caused its own form of anxiety for Namjoon. While you weren’t able to be with him due to your own job, you know that he tried the normal vacation things: trips to other countries, countless museums, walks with his dog and bike rides along the river, dinners with his family. He did all of that. He enjoyed all of that. However, at the end of the day, he felt like he was neglecting what he should truly be doing.
You were able to join Namjoon for the last week of his vacation. He treated you to a trip that you had been wanting to take for as long as he could remember and ended it with a couple of nights spending time with both of your families. While you had been able to see his internal conflicts during the countless video calls you had with him and you tried to cheer him up, it was during this week when he opened up about how he struggled with the break. He confessed that he felt the stress building and almost guiltily showed you the notebook of lyrics, ideas, and deadlines he just couldn’t help but put into writing throughout the month.
Now, you were allowed to follow the boys to New Zealand and spend some more time with Namjoon, albeit interrupted time. You have to respect the filming schedule for Bon Voyage. Essentially if there is a cameraman around–you should not be seen or heard. This is when BTS having seven members comes in handy. When some of the members go on an excursion or begin to do something ridiculous, that is when you and Namjoon can have some time to yourselves. The crew usually goes to the bare minimum shortly after dinner so you can usually spend some time with the entire group at that point as well. Otherwise, it was very hit and miss. With that being said, you were provided lodging in the cabins near the campsite and got to see the beauty of New Zealand while spending time with your boyfriend so you can’t complain too much. At all, really.
Coming back to reality, you notice that over an hour has passed. You grab your bag and stop by the kitchen before heading toward the star of your daydreams.
You see the camera operator leaving the RV as you make it to the campsite. He nods to you in acknowledgment and holds the door open, gently closing it once you are safely on the interior steps.
Namjoon doesn’t initially notice your appearance. His hands are in his hair, leaning over his notebook like a desperate college student trying to block out the nonexistent library noise after a regretful night of partying before an exam. You can hear faint sounds coming from his earbuds and can see the tension radiating off of his frame.
It isn’t until you place the steaming mugs that you brought along with you onto the table that he registers that he has a visitor.
“Thanks,” he says while scratching out something in his notebook.
“Anytime.”
Looking up for the first time, his surprised look quickly fades to one of curiosity.
“Babe?”
“Filming is over for a while. I got here right as he left.”
“I didn’t even see him leave.”
“Understandable. You were really focused.”
“How’d you know…”
“Everyone knows your here this afternoon, Joon. They announced it over the walkies. The director said they’d only film you for about an hour.”
“Ahh, yeah. I messed up their afternoon off.” He tosses the pen he has been writing with onto the table and leans his head back.
“That’s not it. They know you.”
He opens his eyes to look at you in question. When you don’t respond, he sighs and finally takes a drink from his mug.
“Have a seat?”
You run your hand lightly through his hair before settling onto the bench across from him. You grab a book from your bag before taking a sip from your own mug and making yourself comfortable.
“You’re not going to tell me to stop working?”
“Would it help if I did?”
A pause. “Probably not.”
“Then no, I won’t.” You smile softly at him. “I’ll just read a little bit while you work. Maybe I can even help you think of a word or something when you can’t quite think of how you want to say it.”
You take another sip of your drink before opening your book. The smile that Namjoon sends your way goes unnoticed by you.
After finishing a couple of chapters in your book, you stretch and take in your surroundings. Your feet have found their way onto the bench across from you so that your lower legs are resting against Namjoon’s thighs. Observing the man in question, he is in an almost identical position as he was when you entered the RV. You spend some time watching him: the tapping of his fingers against his head or paper, his grip on the pen, his mouth forming unknown words. Only after he lets out several frustrated sighs do you nudge him with your feet to capture his attention. He looks up and removes one of his earbuds; eyebrow raised in question.
“What about a change of scenery?”
“What do you mean?”
“Why don’t we take this outside? The sunshine and view might help your ideas flow better. It is starting to get kind of stuffy in here anyway.”
He looks around reluctantly, “We could open the windows?”
“Namjoon.”
He sighs. “Alright. It wouldn’t hurt to stretch a little bit anyway.”
Grabbing your book and a blanket from the bed, you take his unopened water bottle and lead the way out of the RV. You glance around the campsite and find the perfect spot to sit. The two of you take your time walking the short distance to the pair of chairs set up near the lake, where you lay the blanket out in front of both of them.
“Lay down.” You point to the blanket.
“Y/N, I didn’t know…”
“Don’t make it weird. Just lay down, please?”
He grins and lays down on his back after setting his notebook, phone, and pen safely in one of the chairs.
“Roll over.”
You sit down next to him as he does so before saying, “Oh, so you aren’t going to make that rated R?”
He chuckles and a smile comes to your face when you see his entire body shake because of this.
“Take a bit of a break, Joonie,” you say. “Stretch out and relax for a few minutes.”
He lays his head on his arms and looks at you with a smile.
“That sounds good.”
“Hmmm,” you respond before kneeling and beginning to massage his back and shoulders.
“That feels good.”
“Hmmm.”
The next fifteen minutes are spent with his eyes closed and your hands working their magic on the tension in his back and neck. The only sounds that can be heard are that of the surrounding wildlife and the occasional gasp or groan as you hit a particularly tender spot. You are content to continue for quite a while longer when you notice that his eyes are open and you can see the thoughts forming.
“I’m sorry.”
“What for?”
“For this.”
Your hands stop their ministrations and you sit back so you can look at him better.
“What?”
He sighs and sits up as well.
“We can rarely spend time together. And whenever we can spend time together, my mind is elsewhere. That isn’t fair to you. Everyone else can go to dinners together whenever they want, stay at home to watch movies, spend birthdays at amusement parks. But you’re stuck with me, an idol that can’t be seen in public even if he had the time and energy to go out. A songwriter that sucks at putting his thoughts into words. A stressed workaholic that can’t find a balance between home and work, even after a decade. A boyfriend that can’t treat his girlfriend like they do in movies.” He grimaces. “We have to love on a schedule. And when we do find the time, it seems like you are always taking care of me. I’m sorry.”
It takes a moment for all of that to sink in. In that moment, Namjoon seems to shrink into himself and looks down at his hands.
You place a hand over his and use your other hand to guide his chin upward to look at you, finally resting it on his cheek. The unshed tears in his eyes are mirrored in your own.
“Namjoon, you have nothing to apologize to me for. I enjoy taking care of others. That’s why I do what I do for a living. The fact that I have this amazingly strong, ambitious, and responsible boyfriend that allows me to take care of him, makes me feel important. Special. We all have a lot on our plates and you are no different. The amount of expectation and responsibilities that you have is unreal. You have so many upcoming projects to balance along with the responsibilities of being a leader and brother to the guys. But you manage it and you succeed more times than not. And the amazing thing about you is that you take those times that you don’t succeed and create the most beautiful and inspiring work from it, whether you share it with the public or not.”
A tear falls as he shakes his head.
“You are one of the most important people in my life, Joonie. Of course, I want to take care of you. Of course, I’d love if we could be together at all times of day and have that typical fairytale romance. But you know what? I absolutely adore what we have. It gives us both the opportunity to flourish in our own independence while also having the comfort of knowing that the other is just a phone call away. That distance…that makes times like this even more sweet and memorable. This relationship has not only brought me you, my prince charming, but it has also brought so many more people into my family. The guys and crew feel like my brothers and sisters. I hope that my family and friends are the same for you?”
He nods.
“So what if we can’t have dinner in the same room every night. So what if we don’t spend our birthdays together at arcades or amusement parks. That is what everyone else does. Let them be them. Let us be us. I absolutely love every single moment we have spent together. Every single trip. Every word. Every touch. It doesn’t matter if we are somewhere extraordinary like this or on different sides of the globe, speaking through the phone. I’ve loved it all. You are home to me.”
You kiss him gently on the lips.
“I love you. I love you the most.”
“Y/N, I…” Namjoon tilts his head like he can’t figure out what to say before he moves forward, capturing your lips in his once again.
“I love you, Y/N.”
Your smile is reflected on his face as you scoot to sit between his legs and lean into him. His arms come to wrap around you and he leans his chin on your shoulder. The two of you sit looking at the gorgeous scenery for an unknown period of time, sharing gentle kisses and touches, whispered promises.
“You know, you can go ahead and work on your music if you want to. I’ll stay,” you say softly after you give him a kiss on the cheek.
“You sure?”
“Hmmm. If there is ever a time when I want or need your undivided attention, I will let you know. Just like I hope you would let me know. Right now though, I just want to be around you. It doesn’t matter what we’re doing.”
“Alright.” He places a kiss on your temple before untangling his limbs from yours to stand up and retrieve his supplies. He soon returns, handing you the book you had been reading before laying down on his stomach and getting to work. You watch him for a few moments before making yourself comfortable, using his back as a pillow. You let out a contented sigh when you feel his back move slightly, signaling that he has started to write.
You’ll have to be sure to thank Director Hyangmi when you get back to the cabins for having the crew avoid filming near the lake once everyone returned.
Summary: After a night of celebration, a single comment from a stranger could potentially ruin everything.

The restaurant was bursting at the seams. College kids, old men watching the big game, and you. Well, more accurately, you and your closest group of friends. All it took was one smiley face in the group chat to show the group that they had something to celebrate. They know that you have been working yourself to the brink of exhaustion over the past several months and your hard work has finally paid off today.
Two hours later, drinks are flowing, cheeks are rosy, and the table is filled with raucous laughter. The cardigan that you had worn throughout the day has now been removed, leaving you in just your blouse and skirt. Food is delivered to the table and the conversation is constantly flowing. Your face feels warm and you can’t tell if it’s from the alcohol or all of the compliments that your friends are sending your way tonight.
Nobody wants to leave but it is getting late. One by one, your friends begin to bid you farewell with hugs, wishes of congratulations, and smiles. Soon, you and the shoulder you are leaning on are the only ones left. The shifting of your support as he pays the final bill recaptures your attention from the tipsy daydreams with which it had been preoccupied.
“Let me walk you home,” you can feel the sound vibrations traveling through his body to your ears.
“I’m fine, Jin.”
“Y/N, it would ruin my gentlemanly reputation if I let a beautiful, smart, and inebriated young lady like yourself walk the streets of this city at night.” He gently pushes you away from his shoulder so he could look you in the eyes. His hand over his heart is a sign that playful Jin is coming out; the look in his eyes can only be described as determined.
Offended, you push him lightly on the shoulder but your balance is thrown off more than his. “ ’m not drunk!”
“Right,” you hear him quietly chuckle.
“I only live…”
“Nope,’ he puts his finger up to silence you, “I’m taking you home. And don’t you ‘only live’ me. I know you live fifteen minutes away and are too stingy to spend the money on a cab.” Removing your cardigan from the back of your chair, he places it over one of his arms before extending the other for you to grasp onto. “Please?”
That is how you find yourself walking down the dimly lit street with your best friend at your side. The faint moonlight from between the thick cloud cover and the lights from the businesses and townhomes you pass are the only light sources for your trip. The cool night air has helped your mind sober up a little bit, allowing you and Jin to have a fairly deep discussion about your work and what your next step is.
You are startled when you feel wetness hit your cheek. Bringing your hand up to wipe it away, you can’t help but question why you are crying. Then you feel another drop.
Another.
And another.
Suddenly, the clouds unleash. Rain comes down in torrents. You hear Jin shriek in surprise and feel him pulling you along as he takes off at a sprint. You feel your clothes being soaked through. Water is started to weigh down your shoes. The rain is hitting you so hard that it stings. That is, until Jin tugs you under a convenience store’s awning and out of the deluge of water.
You both burst into laughter the moment your wide eyes meet. Leaning on each other to keep your balance, you must laugh for minutes. Jin feels you shiver.
“I’d offer you your sweater back, but…” he makes a production of twisting your cardigan and raises an eyebrow as a stream of water comes from it.
The cashier must think to two of you are insane with how maniacally you laugh after that.
Just as suddenly as it began, the rain ceases.
Peeking out from under the awning, Jin sees that the thicker clouds seem to be moving away.
“Let’s get you home.” He smiles as he nods his head to the side.
You love the time right after it rains. The smell in the air, the stillness, and the sound of water dripping from trees and other surfaces relax you. You can’t help but grin; Jin taking a moment to splash in a particularly tempting puddle only widens it.
You nearly jump out of your skin when you hear a car horn and loud harsh voice yelling “Look at those sexy legs!”
Your arms automatically come up to shield as much of your body as you look around with wide-eyes to see a gruff man with the sleaziest sneer you’ve ever seen. You jump again, less obviously this time, when you hear Jin respond.
“Thank you!” he shouts back. You see him pull the waist of his soaked jeans up slightly, running his fingers through his drenched hair to expose his forehead, and he strikes a pose with his hip cocked out and one of his legs extended in front of him with his toe pointed toward the ground. He has even thrown your cardigan over his shoulder like you have seen men do in movies with leather jackets. “I’ve been hitting leg day hard! Glad someone appreciates my hard work! My legs have felt like jelly more days than I care to admit.”
The man’s eyes bulge as he watches Jin turn around in a seductive manner and sticks his rear out even further. “I’ve been doing a ton of squats too! They’re killer. Does my butt look...”
He doesn’t get to finish as the man quickly peels out while rolling up his window.
You can just stare at Jin--stunned.
“Shame. He didn’t get to tell me how amazing my butt looks in these wet jeans. I mean…come on!” Jin has turned to you to show off his backside.
When he gets no response, his eyes soften and he comes closer.
“Earth to Y/N.” He waves his hand in front of your face as he sees you still staring at the same spot you were before he moved. Once you break out of your trance and make eye contact, he asks, “You okay?”
Your arms move from around your core to pressing into your thighs as you bend over. You are suddenly laughing so hard that no noise is coming out and you can’t breathe. All that Jin hears between gasps for air are “thank you”, “leg day”, and “butt”. He grins and rubs your back waiting for you to compose yourself. Once you are able to stand upright again, he gently leads you the remaining few blocks to your home.
Stopping as you reach your front door, you turn to Jin.
“Thank you...for what you said back there to that man.” You are sincere in your thanks but can’t seem to look Jin in the eye.
You see his lips form into a smirk. “I’m just glad someone appreciates the time and dedication I put into being Mr. Worldwide Handsome. It is a huge responsibility.” He winks.
Jin must see your sheepishness and uncertainty because he engulfs you in an all-encompassing hug.
“You’re welcome,” he whispers into your still-damp hair and feels you relax into his hold. He hugs you a bit tighter before letting go, handing your cardigan to you, and stepping back slightly. “Go on then. Go warm up and get some sleep.”
Nodding, you turn to unlock your door. Before stepping through the threshold, you look over your shoulder with a playful smile.
“I think your gentlemanly reputation is at an all-time high tonight. Thanks for walking me home, Jin.”
He beams at you.
You can hear Jin’s windshield wiper laughter even after locking your door.
Prompt(s): “Hey. I ❤ your blog. Can you do a Jungkook drabble where you're out on a date night when the reader suddenly gets cat called? Just some angst and fluff please. Thx.” From ally22042000
Summary: While out for a run with Jungkook, you are catcalled.
Warning: Catcalling, unwanted touch, mention of blood
“Why did I agree to this?” You ask yourself as you watch Jungkook sprinting away from you.
Jungkook had asked you to accompany him on his morning jog. A more appropriate description of what is currently happening is you are jogging while Jungkook is running laps around you--literally. You briefly lose sight of him as he crests the top of the hill and your calves burn from the incline. Reaching the top, you can feel your muscles relax as you start the decline. Jungkook meets you near the top, with a wide grin and turns back around to match your pace.
“Isn’t this great, Y/N?” How is he not out of breath? “I’m so glad you came with me!”
You nod in response.
“Want to do this again tomorrow? I run every morning!”
Your eyes go wide and you try to smile but it turns into more of a grimace due to the struggle that your lungs are currently going through.
“I’ll think about it.”
“Awesome!” He speeds up slightly and runs backward down the vacant sidewalk. “I love you!” Still smiling, he turns back around and works back up to his original pace.
You shake your head as you watch his figure getting further and further away. You don’t mind because you know you can go as slowly as you need to and he’ll always come back for you.
As you turn the corner into the business district, you notice that the sidewalk is no longer unoccupied and you lose sight of your gorgeously sweaty (how is that even possible?) boyfriend as people make their way from the street to the various buildings. You slow down slightly so that you don’t collide with an unsuspecting stranger.
Your pace suddenly comes to a stop when you reach a traffic light and the cross traffic is moving. Bouncing from foot to foot, you try to stretch to see where Jungkook has gone. You see him jogging back in your direction, nearly taking out a flower vendor a few blocks ahead of you.
“Hey, baby!” You ignore the deep voice. “Where you running to?” You look over your shoulder to see a man stopped just a couple of feet behind you. He is looking directly at you...or rather, your backside. You face forward, willing the walk signal to turn white and the traffic to allow you to pass.
“Hey, I’m talking to you.” His voice is even closer. Your shoulders rise out of instinct and your eyes are wide, searching for an opening in traffic. Crosswalk laws be damned.
Standing across the street, Jungkook is watching you cautiously. Your panicked eyes meet his and he begins scouring the neverending traffic for an opening.
Just as you see the stoplight turning yellow, you feel a large hand grasp your hip. Without even thinking, you turn around and feel your fist connecting with the creep’s nose. His hand leaves your hip instantly to cover his face.
“Never. Touch. Me. Again.” You bite out between your teeth. He looks up at you with contempt. Before he can say anything though, you feel another hand on your hip and you turn around hastily.
Your fist is immediately stopped as it collides with Jungkook’s palm. His eyes are wide with intensity as he looks directly into your eyes.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m…”
You don’t get to finish as he is no longer in front of you. Following his figure, seemingly three times larger than normal, you watch as he grabs the man by the collar of his overpriced (and now bloodstained) shirt and lifts him off of the ground.
He says nothing but you can see his unoccupied hand forming into a fist at his side as he stares at the man with disgust and hatred. You rush forward to grab his fist just as another voice sounds in the area.
“City Police. Put him down.” A small woman in a black uniform flashes her badge as she comes closer.
The only movement is that of the man, flashing back and forth between the police officer and your boyfriend.
“I said, put him down sir,” she says in an authoritative tone. You gently tug on Jungkook’s tense forearm.
You can see his back expand as he takes a deep breath and he lowers the man to the ground.
“They beat me up, officer! I…”
“Bullshit!” Jungkook steps forward again, only to find the officer and yourself between the two of you.
“I would suggest both of you shut it and stand against that wall,’ the officer points to the nearby business, “or else I’ll take you both in for causing a public disturbance.”
Both men remain silent as they move against the wall, glaring daggers across the eight-foot gap they keep between themselves.
The officer turns to you as you tell her what happened. A nearby shop owner comes to your aid and backs your report with what he had seen.
Within five minutes, the man is being placed in the police car that is parked down the block and Jungkook is rushing to you. He slows as he comes closer, hands extending in front of him only to retract as he second guesses his actions.
You step forward and wrap your arms around his waist. His arms quickly come up to tightly wrap around your shoulders.
“I’m so sorry, babe.” He whispers into your ear.
“I’m okay. Let’s go home. You smell.”
“Hey!”
“It’s true. I can’t let you comfort me when you smell like a wet dog.” You smile over your shoulder as you begin to walk across the street.
He quickly catches up to you and takes your hand in his. The two of you walk several blocks before he turns you so you face him.
“I’m proud of you.” His eyes glisten with adoration. “I’m sorry you have to deal with what that man did, but I’m so proud of you.”
“Thank you,” you smile at your feet, “If it saves another woman from hearing that piece of dirt speak, it is worth the sore hand.”
“Definitely.” The two of you continue walking in silence, his hand tightly holding yours. He nudges your shoulder with his as you see your front door getting closer. You can see his grin in your peripheral vision.
“You’re scary sometimes, you know. Beautiful. Genius. Hot. But scary.”
You smile as you continue looking toward home.
A/N: So, I didn’t make this a date night, but I can totally see JK thinking that going on a run as a date. I hope that is okay! I have so many ideas for this prompt, I have decided to use it for all of the members. Jungkook’s is probably going to be the longest piece while the others will be more like quick reactions, but my muse wants to write, so we shall write. I’ll post every two days or so until this series is done.
Date night with Taehyung was always an adventure. Having such a curious and ornery boyfriend can create some interesting situations. That is how you have come to find yourself at a trampoline park of all places.
The two of you have been bouncing around for about an hour before Taehyung finally calls for a water break. You chuckle as you see him bounding from trampoline to trampoline on his way to the locker banks for your drinks. You take this opportunity to tame your static-filled hair and casually hop in place. You see a group of kids celebrating a birthday by doing ridiculous tricks into the foam pit and make a mental note to lead your Tigger-like boyfriend that way after the kids move on.
“Damn, I could watch ‘em jiggle all day.”
Eyes going wide, you turn to see a couple of young men eyeing you up like a water fountain in the middle of a desert. They were obviously several years younger than you. At least.
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me, honey.”
He smirked. Smirked! Who is this kid to think…
“Where are your parents, kids?” Taehyung’s voice is near your ear before you feel his hand coming to rest on the small of your back.
“Who are you?” The second boy looks at Taehyung with a look of annoyance.
Taehyung leaves your side and begins moving toward the pair. He somehow looks intimidating while essentially skipping forward across the trampoline.
“Well, you see,” he stops a mere foot in front of the pair, “I’m a rather impatient man right now. I’m going to ask you again...where are your parents?”
“Not here.”
“Not here, hmmm? Well, you wouldn’t mind me giving them a call would you?”
“What are you talking…”
“Would you?” He repeats himself, voice even deeper than before. You can’t see Taehyung’s face, but by the look in the boys’ eyes, he is showing them that he means business.
“No, sir.”
“That is what I thought. Give me your phone please.”
One of the boys unlocks his phone and hands it to Tae.
“What is your name?” Taehyung asks as he scrolls through the boy’s contacts. You don’t so much as here the boy’s reply before Taehyung is speaking again.
“Well, what do you think your mother is going to think about how you’ve been treating my girlfriend while we are surrounded by young children?” All of the colors drained from the boy’s face as your boyfriend brings the phone to his ear and soon begins relaying the events of the past several minutes.
You are amazed by Taehyung’s ability to let the woman know her son was being a scumbag while also being charming and winning her over. After he gets her to promise that she will pass along the information to the other boy’s mother, he bids her farewell and hangs up.
As he is returning the phone to the boy he whispers in his ear. The boy’s eyes go as wide as saucers and he grabs his friend’s wrist, effectively dragging him out of the building.
The glimmer in Taehyung’s eyes as he turns back to you is apparent even through the worry that also resides there.
“Are you okay?” He says softly when he is within reach, handing you the long-forgotten water bottle. You pull him in for a quick kiss.
“I am.” You look between his eyes. “What did you tell him?” You ask curiously.
“I just passed on a message from his mother. She reminds me a lot of mine.” He grins mischievously. “He and his buddy won’t be harassing anyone anytime in the foreseeable future.”
“Thank you.”
Holding hands, the two of you gently hop in place before he asks what you want to do now--giving you an out to go home.
“Follow me, Tigger!” You begin bouncing across the gym towards the now vacant foam pit. You can hear him unashamedly laughing as you make one final bounce and flip into the pit.
A/N: An unwanted continuation of the Jungkook catcall request. More coming soon.
22) I’m human too. || 32) Thanks for texting me, means a lot. || 61) You’re okay, I promise. (Drabble Challenge) Something like him overworking himself in some way, but hiding it from everyone. You notice this and try to care for him secretly I suppose, but go with your own flow. I'd like it angst to fluff on the long end only if you can.
Anon: Hey there sweety. I am proud to say that I've been following your stories since a month ago and I'm impressed by all your creations!I caught the feeling whenever I read them. And I would like to try my luck if you could make an angsty Jimin story after this.It doesn't matter what genre.I just love all your ideas.

Summary: Your friendship with Jimin is still pretty fresh. How will both of you handle it when you can tell that he is overworking himself?
Humans have the tendency of being their own worst critic. Everyone around you could think the world of you but you believe you are the gum on the bottom of their shoes. Why is that?
Insecurities? Envy? Humility? Selflessness?
Whatever it is, it can have a serious affect on you if it is allowed to fester.
You met Jimin a little over a year ago. It was purely by chance. You were walking home from work with your eyes trained on your phone. Melodies were blaring through your earbuds and the world was passing you by without you having a care in the world. You hadn’t seen the step down as you reached an alley and stumbled. Flailing like a small child trying ice skating for the first time, you managed to catch your balance and save your skin from any abrasions. The same couldn’t be said about your bag and phone. They had come to land at the feet of a passerby that had halted midstep. Next to them was a coffee cup from the cafe around the corner, lid off, and a stream of creamy liquid flowing into the drain grate that your phone had just narrowly avoided.
One coffee and thousands of apologies later, you found yourself smiling as Jimin handed you back your phone and strode out of the cafe.
Ever since that moment, you and Jimin had stayed in contact. At first, it was just a text here and there. A short phone call to confirm plans to meet followed next. Between schedules and his hesitance, it took Jimin a while to warm up to you. There was something about you that made him cautious at first. It could’ve been the fact that you tend to word vomit around new people and let slip that you were a fan of his through texts. Or the fact that you are socially awkward. It could’ve been that he was just shy around you. When he invited you to come watch a dance practice with him and the boys, you knew it was a major breakthrough.
A year later and you can confidently say that Jimin is a close friend. Your best friend.
The two of you exchanged keys to each other’s apartments. The reasoning for him giving you his key was so that you could check in on the apartment while they were gone on tours and promotions, but you understood that there were times when he’d want you to come over but couldn’t guarantee that he’d be home first. You couldn’t complain. Even though you were socially inept at times, you liked to be around people--especially Jimin and the guys-- whenever you could.
He put your key to use occasionally; he needed a break from “the idol life” at times and your apartment was always calm and quiet retreat. It also doesn’t hurt that you have a cat.
There have been more than a few times when one of you would send a quick “Coming over” text when you needed each other before walking into the other’s place. The first time you did this was when you were on the brink of an anxiety attack because of work. The first time he did it was when he was worried about whether or not you were taking care of yourself after a rather emotional break up with your boyfriend. After that night, you would end every night with a phone call or FaceTime call to recap the day and wish the other good night.
It is safe to say that the two of you knew a lot about each other. Granted, you’ve only known each other for about a year so you were discovering new quirks about each other every day-- dislikes, passions, history, pet peeves-- but it all felt natural.
About six months after meeting Jimin, you begin to notice that things are a little off.
Jimin is taking longer and longer to respond to your texts. This isn’t anything too shocking considering that they are between comebacks and so he is doing many things to prepare the next album and round of performances. When you call, he’ll always pick up.
“Hey Y/N! I saw your texts. Sorry, I didn’t reply...I had to go into the studio. I have a few minutes now though. How has your day been going?”
The nightly calls begin to happen later and later in the evening and seem rushed. FaceTime calls become almost non-existent. You always send a “Good night” text though.
There were a couple of nights that you are up late working on coursework for your continuing education classes. You would go to your streaming music app only to see that his profile was active and he was listening to the BTS discography.
He rarely listens to BTS stuff outside of work.
You don’t think too much about it, just assuming that the boys are having a late night practice to prepare for the upcoming tour. You continue to burn the midnight oil to finish your paper. Before you log off for the night, you see that his profile is still active.
The following Saturday, you find yourself inside of BigHit’s building. It has been awhile since you’ve visited the boys at work. Knowing from last night’s call with Jimin that they began practicing at an ungodly hour this morning, your hands are full as you gently push the door to the practice room open with your foot.
“Y/N!” Taehyung runs over to give you a hug.
“Oi...watch the coffee you imbecile,” Yoongi scolds as he takes one of the carrying trays from your hand.
“Good to see you too, Yoongs,” you tease, handing the other tray to Namjoon before Taehyung has a fit from holding back his hug.
“Thanks for the fuel, Y/N.” He sends a small smile your way before handing the drinks to the nearest members to him.
“Are you trying to seduce me?” You hear Jin behind you. “Because so far, you’re doing a great job.”
“No, I…” You stop as you turn around and look at him with rosy cheeks.
He isn’t looking at you.
He is staring at the coffee cup.
“Ignore him, he has reached the point of delirious rambling earlier today than normal.” Namjoon tips his cup toward you in a sort of toast. “Thanks, Y/N.”
“My pleasure! I figured you all could use a pick-me-up.”
“And you weren’t wrong.”
“Alright guys, take 10!” The choreography says, as though he had any control over the caffeine-deficient guys at that moment. “Drink your coffee, do your business, and come back ready to run through it all.”
They are already sprawled out around the room: Yoongi and Jin instantaneously closing their eyes as they fall onto the couch, Jungkook and Hoseok stretching in the corner, and Taehyung and Namjoon are scrolling through their phones.
Jimin is sat on the floor against the mirror, legs sprawled out in front of him as he leans as far forward as he can to stretch his hamstrings. Grabbing the last coffee cup from the tray, you make your way over to him.
“Tough morning?” You ask as you pass on the cup.
“Not too bad,” he says before taking a sip of the scalding liquid, “everyone is just sore from getting back into the routine.”
He continues to stretch as the two of you talk about how Namjoon nearly broke the sound system this morning before practice even started. A grimace crosses Jimin’s face as he stretches his arms above his head.
“Sore?”
“Hmmm.”
“Here, let me. Scoot up.”
Looking at you curiously, he drops his arms and scoots away from the mirror just enough for you to kneel behind him. The second your hands begin kneading the muscles right at the base of his neck, he becomes putty in your hands. You tell him about how it took the barista five attempts to get your name right this morning but you’re sure he isn’t actually listening.
“I’m next!” Jungkook declares as he comes closer to the two of you.
“Get your own best friend, Kooks.” Jimin murmurs.
Laughing, you continue the massage until the choreographer comes back in and calls the boys to the floor again.
“Stay and watch for a bit?” Jimin asks as he helps you from the floor.
“Of course”
The next hour is spent watching the boys run through a set of their upcoming tour and then go back to perfect things. You couldn’t tell there was anything wrong in those certain parts, but that is why you aren’t the choreographer, you suppose. Jimin and Hoseok looked perfect while you could tell the others weren’t quite as confident in some of the moves just yet. You could almost dance the older routines with them but the newer ones looked spectacular and you couldn’t wait to see them in the setting of a show rather than a fluorescently lit room.
During their next break, you take your leave. Luckily, you are able to avoid any sweaty hugs by instead offering some high-fives and a promise to visit again really soon.
A few weeks later brings exam season. You are stressed beyond belief and your eyes are starting to not be able to focus on your notes. Rubbing your eyes, you pick up your phone for a study break.
One work day and an evening in the kitchen later, you find yourself looking proudly over the dishes you made for the night. Friday night dinners were a thing for you and Jimin. They wouldn’t always be in the same place and would typically consist of take-out, but you loved these nights nonetheless. It gave you both a chance to slow down and just be in each other’s company.
7 o’clock comes and goes without any sign of Jimin. You texted him when the food was ready but got no response. It gets to the point where you text Hoseok at 8:30 to make sure Jimin was okay. Hoseok lets you know that Jimin was finishing up some recording in the studio tonight and wouldn’t be home until late.
The food is cold on the kitchen counter. There is a sink full of dishes. And you are alone on a Friday night.
An hour later, you are letting yourself into Jimin and Hoseok’s place with an arm full of Tupperware containers. Making a beeline for the refrigerator you set the food on the top shelf and leave before Hoseok can even come to greet you. You know you wouldn’t be the best company at the moment.
The next morning, you wake up to a single text from Jimin.
You try to schedule some friend time over the next few days, but Jimin never seems to be available. He is either working or helping one of the guys with something.
Unlocking the door, you make your way into Jimin and Hoseok’s apartment. All is quiet like you expected. You came over as soon as you finished work because there wasn’t a reason to go all the way across town to your place just to turn around and come back here. You leave the bags of snack food and drinks on the kitchen counter and make your way into the living room to see if the boys have added anything new to their DVD collection.
After choosing a few movies you would like to watch, you find yourself wandering down the hall toward the bathroom. Before you reach your destination, you see that Jimin’s bedroom door is open. Glancing in, you are shocked to find clothes scattered all around the far corner of the room. His bed is unmade and there are water bottles everywhere. His room is usually the tidiest.
You shrug your shoulders and continue to the bathroom. Upon exiting, you walk past Jimin’s room again, only to backtrack and look into it. Sighing to yourself, you grab the clothes hamper near the closet and throw the dirty laundry on the floor into it. You make his bed and grab an armful of water bottles. You pour out the leftover water and throw all of the bottles into recycling.
Right at that moment, you hear the front door open.
“Y/N?”
“In the kitchen!”
Jimin walks in with his arms laden with sacks full of Korean take-out.
“Let’s take all of this into the living room. We’ll just camp out there this evening.” He smiles. You grab the things that you brought and follow behind him.
After eating, he seemed to inhale his food, you find yourselves on the couch. Jimin’s head is in your lap as he is sprawled out across the length of the couch. You’re both looking at the movie that is playing on the screen but the two of you are talking about anything that randomly comes to mind. Your exam, a meeting he had yesterday with PD, a new YouTube video...topics are endless. His voice sounds worn out. He sounds worn out.
At one point, he grabs your hand and places it on his head--your cue to run your fingers through his hair. You laugh to yourself and follow his direction. You're in the middle of a story about an excessively energetic child that came into your job today when you hear soft snores. Looking down, Jimin’s eyes are closed, lips slightly parted, and his breathing has evened out.
Smiling softly, you awkwardly place a throw blanket over as much of his body as you can reach without disturbing him. Turning your full attention to the movie, you get sucked into the storyline--never even realizing that is wasn’t even dark outside yet.
The next month is filled with long days at work and evenings spent with the guys. It was summertime and you weren’t taking any classes, so you were more or less free after your shift at work. Trips to the BigHit building became a routine. Depending on the day, you’d sit in on a dance practice or visit the boys in their studios (at least the ones that would let you in). You’d always leave before they did though. Whenever you made yourself dinner, you made extra and stopped by Jimin’s apartment a few times a week to leave the leftovers in the fridge for him and Hoseok. Sometimes, Hoseok would be home and thank you but never Jimin.
You have been noticing that Jimin’s voice is raspier than usual. He claims it is allergies, but anytime you visit you bring him tea and honey.
The two of you haven’t had much time to hang out outside of the BigHit building. He is always working. You are slightly concerned but you know the tour is right around the corner so you try to bury your worry away.
One night, you insomnia hits you like a freight train. By the time 4am rolls around, you are tired of the frustration so you grab your laptop and begin browsing the internet for something to entertain yourself. Opening your music app, you notice Jimin is active.
Fifteen minutes later, you realize that he is no longer active.
The tour begins and the boys are jet-setting across the world. You continue to text Jimin as you normally do for about a month, but he rarely responds--leaving you on read.
You have a few days of vacation time saved up and the boys are going to a city that you’ve always wanted to see. You decide that this is a perfect time to also catch up with Jimin while seeing the boys’ show too. You leave a voicemail for Jimin letting him know your plans, text Namjoon so he can talk with the managers because who knows if Jimin actually will and then book your flight.
Stepping out of the airport, you see a young woman with your name on a sign. Smiling at her, you roll your luggage in her direction. She helps you load it into the trunk of the vehicle before driving you to the hotel.
“Go ahead and get settled into your room. I’ll wait down here. When you’re ready, we’ll head to the venue and meet up with everyone else.”
Entering your room, you see that the boys (more specifically Namjoon) have pulled out all of the stops for you. This is a room that looks like one they are worthy of. Plush blankets, a view of the city to die for, and sleek designs everywhere you look. You also notice a door that joins your room to another. Making sure your side is locked, you freshen yourself up in the bathroom before returning to the lobby.
“Here is your pass,” the woman hands you a lanyard. “Act like you know what you’re doing and you should be fine. We’ll go in through the back entrance so we shouldn’t have any issues anyway.”
She was right. Getting into the venue was no issue whatsoever. You hang out in the massive green room while the boys finish their soundcheck. You can hear them coming down the hall awhile before you actually see them.
“Y/N!”
You are engulfed in a Taehyung hug. Jin, Yoongi, and Namjoon wave to you as you peer over his shoulder. Jungkook walks by and gives you a high five on his way to the table full of food along the back wall. Hoseok flashes his best smile your way before ducking into the bathroom.
Jimin walks over and gives you a gentle hug once Taehyung releases his grasp.
“I’m glad you’re here.” He nearly whispers. You notice that his frame feels slightly smaller than what you're used to and he has some dark areas under his eyes as he pulls away from you. You hand him the tea that you brought for him.
The next hour is a whirlwind of activity. The boys are shooed off to shower before coming back in and taking up residence in each of the hair and makeup stations. You talk to Namjoon about how the tour has been going since he found himself in the chair nearest to your spot on the couch. You are trying to stay out of the way as much as possible.
As the guys finish in the chairs, they move behind a curtain to change into their first outfit for the show. Jimin is one of the first ones back there and is still back there once everyone else has emerged, ready for the stage.
“Jimin?” You walk over to the curtain.
You can hear him mumbling. One of the stylists come around the curtain shaking her head.
“He won’t listen to me. Try your best.”
With a crease finding its way to your browline, you walk around to the backside of the curtain.
Jimin is there, fussing with the leather belts and suspenders that are a part of his outfit.
“Jimin,” you ask softly, “What’s wrong?”
“It doesn’t feel right.” He tugs on the suspender strap.
“It looks okay…”
“It’s too loose! It’s going to fall down while I’m performing and mess everything up.” He tugs harder on the strap.
You walk over to him, placing your hand over his. “Tugging is only going to make it worse, J. Let me see what I can do.”
He huffs impatiently and looks at the ceiling as you unlatch the buckle. “Did it feel right last concert?”
He hums in the affirmative.
“Hmmm...tell me when it feels like you want it too.” You pull the leather strap tighter until he says “there”.
There isn’t a hole where one is needed, so you tell him to hold the strap as you peek around the corner.
“Does anyone have a safety pin?”
Yoongi picks one up off of a nearby table and brings it to you with a question in his eyes.
“He’ll be out soon.” You confirm as you take the small piece of metal from his hands.
Returning to Jimin, you take the strap back into your hand and poke a new hole. Sliding the metal of the buckle through the fresh opening, you slide the leather through the holder and pat it before removing your hands.
“Better?”
He smiles softly and moves his hand to his left suspender. “This one feels off too.”
You repeat the process to the other piece of leather. Closing the safety pin, you grasp Jimin’s hand before he can walk to the other side of the curtain.
“Hey,” you whisper so the others can’t hear, “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine.” He says automatically. “I’m late though. I need to go.”
You watch the duration of the show from the side of the stage. You don’t go back to the green room during any transitions, not wanting to miss anything. Also, you feel like you are less of a hindrance here than you would be if you were an extra body in the green room during these quick changes.
You are in awe during the entire show. The boys have their solo stages near the end of the concert. Jimin is one of the last ones. You’ve seen him rehearse his set many times and he is amazing on stage. He comes alive. His lines are perfection and his voice steady. When he hurries off stage, lips pulled tight in a frown, you find yourself making your way back to the green room.
The scene that greets you is one of organized chaos. Assistants and stylists are everywhere, handing bags of ice and water bottles to the boys, helping with last minute changes to their appearance, and shouting reminders over the dull roar of conversation. Jimin is near a makeup chair getting fanned by an assistant and having minor changes made to his wardrobe. He is staring at himself in the mirror, occasionally taking a long drink of water. You can tell the staff is trying to start a conversation with him, but he isn’t reciprocating.
When the stylist leaves his side, you walk up to him.
“That was beautiful, Jimin! I’ve never…”
“It sucked.”
“What?”
“I was flat for the entire last half. My mic pack nearly came off. And my voice cracked on the chorus.”
One of the managers shouts, “If you’re ready, head to the stage. One minute!”
Jimin quickly turns and walks out the door before you have the chance to say anything. You stare after him like you have just seen a ghost.
“Don’t worry about him,” Jungkook says as he picks up another bottle of water. “He’ll be fine after this next set.”
You stay off to the side of the stage to watch the end credits of the concert, giving the guys and their team some time to do what they needed to do before you got in their way. You smile to yourself as you hear the leaving audience begin yet another rendition of one of the songs from the show. During every intermission, they’d begin singing a different song. It was nice. You take out your phone to record it for the boys. Once the sound has died down because they are all in the halls instead of the arena, you turn on your heels and made your way to the green room.
“What did you think, Y/N? Awesome right?” Hoseok meets you at the door. He is back in his street clothes and has a radiant smile.
“It was amazing, Hobi!” You say. “I’m glad I could see it! You have all worked so hard.”
He smiles, pulling you into a hug before making his way further into the room. You hold small conversations with the other guys as you pass them, but you feel the need to check on Jimin. You grab a water bottle and piece of fruit from the table and go to sit next to him on the couch. He is leaning his head back against the couch and his eyes are closed.
“Jimin?”
The corner of his mouth pulls down closer to his chin. He heard you.
“I brought you water and an apple.”
“Don’t want it.”
“Okay.” You dejectedly set both items on the table.
An awkward silence falls over the two of you.
“The show was spectacular.” You begin, cheerily. “Your fans were so happy when they were leaving…”
“ARMY.”
“Yes, the ARMY was happy…”
“Why can’t you just go away?” He opens his eyes to glare at you. You stop mid-sentence, thumb frozen over the play button of the video you recorded just minutes ago.
“But…”
“Seriously, why are you even here?” He stands up and runs his hands aggressively through his hair.
“Jimin…” Namjoon’s warning voice can be heard above the other conversations in the room, which begin to quiet as the participants realize what is going on.
“Why did you even come? Why couldn’t you stay home? I never said I wanted you here.” He says with malice as he grabs his bag.
“I just…”
He turns to look at you when he reaches the door. The fire in his eyes and steely set of his jawline makes you feel like you are a foot tall.
“Go home, Y/N,” he sneers. “You’re just in the way.”
And with that, he twists the doorknob and storms out, leaving the entire room shocked and confused.
The muted city lights keep you company that night. Deafening silence seems to envelop the stately hotel room, even though you know that there are kids two doors down that are probably fighting sleep and a dog upstairs that barks every time the elevator dings. You can’t hear any of it though.
You’ve been tossing and turning for hours; the events of the evening playing over and over again in your thoughts like a broken record. Each time Jimin walks away from you in your mind’s eye, your heart clenches a little tighter and another crease graces your forehead. Glancing at the time, you roll over and groan loudly into the pillow.
You sent him several texts and tried calling multiple times since he stormed out of the door. All were left unread and unanswered.
The distance between you and your best friend seems to be growing by the second. The fact that he is literally on the other side of the wall but it feels like he is a world away speaks to this. You had found out from Jin that Namjoon made it so that you and Jimin and conjoining rooms so you could spend more time together while you were here.
It was a nice thought.
“Is it my fault?” You ask the room.
Was I too pushy? Not pushy enough? Why is he so frustrated with me? Did he mean what he said?
After staring at the popcorned ceiling until your eyes started to water, you throw the blankets off of yourself and slide your feet into the slippers that are beside the bed. Taking one last look at the clock--3:37AM-- you make your way to the door that connects your room with Jimin’s. Opening the door on your side, you pause before knocking lightly on the last couple inches of wood that separate you from your best friend.
“Jimin?” You call, quietly enough not to disturb the rooms around you but enough for him to hear.
The door remains closed. You try again and get the same response.
Pressing your ear to the door, you try to listen for any sort of sign that he is awake. All you can hear is your own faint heartbeat. Crestfallen, your shoulders slump as you lean more heavily against the barrier.
You can’t let this go though. There is no way you’re going to be able to sleep without talking to him. Almost of its own accord, your hand reaches for the doorknob and tries its luck.
The knob turns and the door opens; your body tumbles into Jimin’s room as the door had been holding you up.
His room is even more silent than yours. The only light that is on is the one right inside the door. This small amount of light lets you absorb one thing.
Jimin isn’t here.
The bed looks like it hasn’t been slept in. His suitcase is open on the chair in the corner. There isn’t any evidence of take-out or shoes left by the door.
“Where are you, J?” Your wide eyes search the room while your front teeth worry the inside of your bottom lip.
You go back to your room to put on your tennis shoes and a hoodie before making your way into the hallway. Jimin wouldn’t leave the hotel on his own. You know that much. He has to be here somewhere.
The soft elevator music does nothing to ease your nerves as you make your way to the ground level. The receptionist looks up as the doors open to the lobby. The empty lobby. You nod your head as you walk around the corner to the hotel bar. The lights are dim but you can immediately tell the Jimin isn’t here either. The only souls in the place are the bartender wiping the already glistening counter and an older gentleman nursing a glass of amber liquid.
Continuing down the hall, you see the lights on in the hotel gym. The scene through the glass door makes you instantly stop.
Considering the hotel chain, it is a small gym. There is enough room for about six exercise machines and the other half of the room is empty, providing space for other styles of workouts. The mirror that extends the length of the wall shows his reflection. He has a look of tired determination in his eyes, assessing every minuscule move of his body. Less than 30 seconds later, he suddenly freezes, spins around and runs his hands over his face in frustration. Walking to his phone on the floor, he presses a button then moves back to his original location.
The corners of your mouth turn downward as you watch him dance. He is drenched; how long has he been down here? The choreography looks perfect, disregarding his tense posture and severe facial expressions. He stops again, restarts the music, and runs through the motions again.
And again.
And again.
And again.
Something keeps you rooted to the spot in the hallway. Fear? Curiosity? Anxiety? You argue with yourself that you should go in; you should leave him alone and go back to your room. Shuffling from one foot to the other, you don’t even notice the puzzled housekeeper that walks past you until you hear the sound of her cart rolling onto the service elevator. You glance in the direction of the sound before returning your attention back to the gym.
Hurriedly pushing the door open, you run toward the mirror. Jimin is pounding his fist against the mirror with a look of sheer frustration on his face. In the few seconds it takes you to cross the room, you catch a little of what he is saying with each blow…
“...stupid…”
“...impossible…”
“...hate…”
You engulf him in a back hug. His eyes shoot wide open with shock when he feels your arms squeeze around his waist and head fall between his shoulder blades. It takes only a second to register before he tears himself away from you.
“Go. Away.” He says in a voice that sounds deadly serious. You stagger back slightly as you regain your balance. Jimin is looking away from you, but you can see his shoulders rising and falling quickly.
“Jimin, I…”
“I said,” he is nearly shouting now, “leave me alone!”
“I can’t do that, J.” Your voice is as calm as the adrenaline in your body will allow it to be.
“Why not? Why’d you even come back? It isn’t as if I’m anything special.”
“Yes, you…”
“No, I’m not! I’m a fool! I’m not good enough! I can’t dance. I can’t sing. I…”
He looks up at you through soaked bangs.
“I can’t do anything right.”
He slides down against the mirror until he sits on the floor, curling in upon himself and letting out a gut-wrenching sob.
You are next to him in a heartbeat. Testing the waters, you gently place your hand on his arm in as soothing of manner as you can. When he only cries more, you take that as your sign. You sit next to him and wrap your arms and legs as far around his bunched up body as possible. It isn’t the most comfortable position, but that doesn’t matter. Your cheek finds its way to his shoulder and you don’t even comprehend the words that are leaving your mouth until they have made themselves known.
“You are special. You are amazing. You are so talented. You are loved. You are my best friend. I need you. You are special...”
You can tell when he begins to focus on the words you are whispering in his ear. His body impossibly becomes tenser before it gradually relaxes. His breathing begins to even out and his sobs have become whimpers. After a minute or two of this, you move your hand into his hair and begin to massage his scalp lightly and let the room fall silent.
He pushes against your arms and uncurls his body while you do the same, only for him to cuddle into your side.
You can’t help but let a sigh escape your lips when his head comes to rest on your shoulder.
Placing a quick kiss on his forehead, you let him grasp your hands tightly.
After what simultaneously feels like a few seconds and hours of quiet, you are brought out of your thoughts by a nearly inaudible confession.
“I’m not fine. I know I said I was,” he burrows further into your side, “but I’m not.”
You feel your heart shatter into millions of pieces. Tightening your hold on him, you try your best to hold it together.
“I know, Jimmie. I know.”
You hear him sniffle.
“It is okay to feel like you do right now,” you begin while rubbing small circles on the back of his hand with your thumb. “It is okay not to be okay.”
“I’m weak.”
“No, you’re not. You’re human. You have emotions. You have worries. You have struggles. You know how I know?”
You feel his head shake from side to side.
“I’m human too. I have all of those things too. But you want to know the amazing thing about being human? Even after you have reached your breaking point, you don’t have to stay there. Trust in yourself and those around you to pick you back up and things will get better. ”
You feel him pull away from you to sit up on his own. He wipes his cheeks with the back of his hands and sighs deeply.
“I’m sorry, Y/N.”
“You don’t need to apologize, Jimin.”
“Yes, I do. I took everything out on you. I never should’ve lost my temper. I…”
“Jimin, you’re okay. I promise. Just be honest with me from here on out. Tell me what you need. You know I am the most awkward person when it comes to confrontation and physical interactions…”
He sniggers under his breath. “The fact that you call it physical interactions…”
“My point exactly.” You lean so that your shoulder pushes his body slightly. “As I was saying...I know I’m awkward and I don’t always know how to be there for you in the way you need me to be as your best friend. Tell me and I’ll do my best. I don’t want you to feel as alone as I’m sure you’ve been feeling over the past couple of months ever again.Okay?”
He gives a shy smile. “Okay.”
“Talk to me. What happened?”
This invitation seems to be all that Jimin needed. He immediately starts spilling every thought that has been running through his head recently. How his dancing doesn’t seem to be improving. How his vocals have been faltering even though he has been having extra vocal lessons and practicing more. How he has been letting the boys down. Letting ARMY down. Letting you down. How he feels exhausted all the time.
You give him your full attention while he opens up. Your eye contact and soft touches let him know that you are listening.
After he has emptied his thoughts out, he takes a deep breath and chuckles at himself
“I’m a mess.”
“We’ve gone over this already, Jimin. You are not a mess. You have just been alone in your head for too long. You’ve been nitpicking at everything that you do and you’re missing out on the fact that you are so much more than those few little things that you feel like are wrong.”
“Your dancing is mesmerizing. Granted, what I saw just now wasn’t as great but that is because you weren’t lost in the music like usual. You were looking for mistakes and that was causing it to look off. If you just let yourself go, like you did at the concert tonight, I know I can’t watch anyone else besides you.”
“Vocally, you have just overworked you vocal chords recently. That is what has been causing your issues on stage. I mean, even your speaking voice is a little more gruff than normal. Just take it easy, rest your voice, and you’ll be back in tip-top shape in no time there. You aren’t in the vocal line of BTS for nothing.”
“And everything else...it is all in your head. Your brothers love you. I love you. ARMY loves you. We understand that you will have off days. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Perfection isn’t what we’re looking for. We want to see you happy. Give us what you can without burning yourself out.”
“I’ll try.”
“Good.” You smile softly at him.
Looking at the clock on the wall, you stand up. “Come on. It is late. We’re both tired and you stink. Let’s get out of here.” You help him stand up.
He gasps playfully, “I should be offended.”
“Smell yourself. That’ll offend you enough.” You throw a wink over your shoulder as you hand him his phone that you had picked up from the floor.
The silence between the two of you is comfortable as you make your way back to the hotel rooms.
You watch him go into his room before opening the door to your own. After locking the door, you turn around to see him in your room with a curious look on his face as he looks between you and the open door between your rooms.
You blush slightly, “I was looking for you earlier and the door was unlocked. I couldn’t sleep until we talked. I didn’t want you mad at me.”
He comes up to engulf you in a hug. “I could never be mad at you. Even if I act like it, I’m not. It’s just for show.”
You reciprocate the hug, burying your face into his shoulder but pulling away quickly and pushing him back toward the open door. “Go. Bathe. Now.”
You can hear him laughing as he returns to his room.
You’re not quite ready to fall back to sleep. Deciding to leave the door open, you stretch out on your bed for the second time that night and begin scrolling through different apps on your phone. You can hear the water running through the pipes and this almost lulls you into your dreams until you hear a door open.
Opening your eyes, you see Jimin standing in the doorway.
“What’s wrong?” You ask, seeing the look of worry in his eyes.
“I…”
You quirk your eyebrows as you wait patiently.
“I know I was a jerk earlier and I don’t deserve it. But I don’t want to be alone right now.”
“I’m fine with leaving the door open tonight. I’ll be right here.” You say with a reassuring smile that only falters when you see him shaking his head.
“No, I mean...I feel like I need to be close to someone. I was back in my head in the shower and I need someone to...keep me in the real world?”
“Oh.” You say, eyes darting around the room. Everything is silent.
“I’ll just go ask Tae or Kookie. I’m…”
“No, no. It’s okay. Do you want me to sleep in your room or do you want to come in here?” You ask hurriedly before he can leave.
“Really?” He raises his eyes to meet yours.
“Really.” You smile.
He walks into his room for just a moment, turning off the lights, before walking through the door frame and into your room for the second time that night. You scoot over and make room for him on the bed.
After crawling under the blankets, he turns to shut off the lamp on his side of the bed and you do the same on yours.
“Good night, Y/N.”
“Good night, Jimin.”
The two of you stay on your separate sides of the mattress for a few minutes, neither of you moving. That is until you feel him wrap his arms around your waist and pull you closer so he can rest his head on your shoulder. The tension in both of your bodies seems to dissipate instantly.
He lets out a grand sigh as he feels your hand come to play with the hair at the nape of his neck and he relaxes his hold slightly.
“Thank you, Y/N.”
“Anytime.”
The two of you fall asleep just as the sky begins its transition from dark blue to gold; your dreams are filled with comfort and laughter.
A/N: Goodness gracious, it has been awhile! I’m back! Sorry if the texts look weird...it was easier for me to screenshot my Google Doc than to mess with formatting today. Please let me know what you think of this piece...I’m feeling pretty rusty when it comes to writing. THANKS for reading! 💜 Leah

“Are you ready, yet?” You watch your reflection jump when the incessant rapping begins on the door and you hear your boyfriend’s loud whine over the dull roar of your blow dryer.
“Patience is a virtue, Jeon Jeong-guk.”
“Don’t use my formal name on me to try and cover up the fact that you are taking literally forever to get ready.”
You can see him in your mind’s eye: pouting, impatiently creating Timberland shaped wear marks in the plush hotel carpet, and pointing at the door to scold you.
“You can’t do big things if you are distracted by the little things.”
“Exactly! That is why I am leaving in two minutes--with or without you.”
“You wouldn’t dare! This is our date night!”
“No quote? Wow!” His sarcasm is palpable through the wood barrier. “You don’t seem too excited about it so I can just go on my own. I’ve been looking forward to this for weeks and I’m not going to miss it.”
You hear him move away from the door. Turning off the blow dryer, you hear him rummaging around the room so you pull out your makeup bag for the finishing touches.
“Give me five minutes!” You inform him, but you aren’t sure he hears you as he begins speaking at the exact same moment from right outside the bathroom door.
“I’ll grab some food on the way home! Don’t stay up! Love you!”
“Jungkook!”
The click of the door latch and subsequent silence shocks you.
Did he really just…?
Hurriedly tossing your makeup bag to the side, you swing open the door and find an empty hotel room. Your eyes are wide and your heart is racing as you throw on your shoes, grab your bag, and rush out the door. You don’t see him in the hallway, elevator, or lobby. Outside, the warmth of the setting sun on your skin would be pleasant if you were to give yourself time to soak it in, but you currently have a two-track mind.
Track One: I’m glad I know where I’m going.
and
Track Two: That impatient, immature, impulsive imbecile! Just wait…
Turning sharply around the corner of a large brick building, you see your destination. The sharp colors, shimmering lights, and festive music make the scene look like a moment pulled directly from a teen movie. The sun is still in the sky, just barely, and the colors it is creating as a backdrop to the city’s carnival is jaw-dropping. In fact, you take a moment to pause and snap a photograph with your phone. Even if you are beyond angry with your boyfriend, you can still stop and smell the metaphorical roses. You nod, pleased with yourself, while you replace your phone in your pocket and continue to scout out the crowd for your target.
Target acquired.
You pick up the pace as you make your way through the masses. Just as the scrawny teenager working the concession stand hands Jungkook his cotton candy, you push into his shoulder and steal the sweet confection.
“Hey! That’s mine!”
“Well, you’re a prick that left his girlfriend at the hotel in a strange city to go to a carnival, so I think it is only fair.” You continue to walk aimlessly through the fair, making a grandiose showing of eating small clouds of the pastel goodness.
“You were taking too long,” he defends.
You don’t say anything, just continuing to stroll through the crowd. You never have been the best at hiding your emotions so Jungkook can tell just how upset you are.
“I knew you’d catch up!”
Your movement halts only when you reach the line to purchase tickets. Jungkook is looking at you, almost helplessly, as you scan the ticket prices and then people watch while waiting.
“Babe, seriously, I knew you’d come once you were done.”
You take another bite of the cotton candy as the family in front of you buys their weight in tickets.
“Sweetie, I love you. Please talk to me.” His hand hesitantly comes to rest on your lower back. “I’m sorry if I upset you. I just…”
“40 tickets please!” You say sweetly to the woman in the ticket booth. When she calculates the price, you look expectantly at Jungkook. The passive aggressive smirk that you shoot his way makes him sigh and reach into his pocket.
“Thank you!” You tell the woman cheerfully as you grab the tickets and walk away from the booth with Jungkook following closely behind like a lost puppy.
“Y/N,” he starts.
“Jungkook!” You turn around abruptly. “I’ll bet you a shaved ice that I can beat you.” You nod your head toward the classic bottle game, where you see two children trying their hardest to knock down their pyramids of bottles with a ball, both failing.
He looks back and forth between you and the game several times before a competitive sparkle appears in his chestnut eyes and a smirk comes to his face.
“You’re on!”
An hour later, you have managed to win shaved ice, pretzels, a funnel cake, two stuffed animals, and a goldfish.
“One more game!” Jungkook declares as he looks around the carnival. “If I win, you owe me a kiss.”
“And if I win?”
“I’ll ride whatever ride you decide without any complaints.”
You nod and follow him to the final game of your competition-- skeeball.
“You’re going down, babe! You know how good I am at bowling...this is like the same thing!” He boasts as he places some coins in your palm to begin the game. The booth attendant looks at you with a raised eyebrow, to which you respond with a shrug.
“Whatever you say, Kookie.” You respond innocently.
“Alright, let’s start at the same time. Five, four, three, two, one…”
The clink of coins entering the machines precedes the rumble of the balls rolling down the chute towards the two of you.
The next two minutes are filled with Jungkook’s exclamations of success. He is so wrapped up in the competition he doesn’t notice how quiet you are or the noises coming from the scoreboard on your machine.
When the final buzzer sounds, your scoreboard flashes WINNER!
“WooHoo!” You cheer, raising your hands in victory. Your right arm isn’t able to fully extend though because it comes in contact with...something.
“Ooof,” you hear from beside you.
Turning your head, almost comically slow, you take in the scene to your right.
The booth attendant has her hands over her mouth and her eyes crinkling with laughter or worry as she looks at the person doubled over in front of her.
Jungkook is covering his face with both hands, swaying forward and backward, mumbling words that you can’t understand.
“Oh no! Jungkook! I didn’t mean too!” You kneel down in front of him and gently grasp his wrists.
“Kookie?” He shakes his head. “Are you okay? Let me see, please?”
He takes a deep breath and brings his hands down, looking directly at them in search of blood.
There is none.
Wide-eyed, you take in his face. There is a pink spot on his cheekbone but everything else looks normal, all things considered.
“I’m so sorry, Kookie!” You pull yourself up and place a gentle kiss on his cheek. “I didn’t mean to hit you! I didn’t realize you were that close to me. I’m sorry!”
He gives you a shy smile before looking around at the small audience the two of you have drawn.
“It’s fine, Y/N. Karma is just catching up to me, I guess.” He grins more genuinely now. “Grab your things and choose a ride. You won fair and square, even though you should’ve probably been penalized for excessive celebration.” He pushes his arm into yours lightly.
“We don’t have to, babe.” You counter. “We can get you some ice and just head back to the hotel...”
“No, I’m a man of my word. We are going on at least one ride.” He turns around in a dramatic fashion. “Pick your poison, Y/N.”
You take in your choices before grabbing his hand and pulling him in a determined direction.
He laughs as you tug him into the waiting car of the Ferris wheel.
“You had to win a bet to get me to ride a Ferris wheel?” He jokes.
“No, I just thought it’d be a nice change of pace.” You grin.
The two of you spend the next few minutes holding hands while looking over the carnival. No words are exchanged, but both of your minds are going miles per second.
“I’m sorry.” Jungkook stares straight ahead. You wouldn’t know he had been the source of the apology if you hadn’t felt him shift in the seat at the same time.
The bright skyline behind Jungkook is a stark contrast to his slightly defeated posture. It seems as though the day has caught up with him and hit him hard.
“I should’ve waited. This was a date for us, not me. I was selfish,” he continues. “I can’t make an excuse because there aren’t any. I was a jerk.”
You don’t say anything, knowing that he isn’t finished by the crease forming between his eyebrows. He turns slightly and brings his eyes up to meet yours.
“I should always wait for you, Y/N. I will always wait for you. I love you so much.”
“You just walked out.”
“But, I said I love you!”
“You were a jerk.”
“I said that.”
“You were selfish.”
“Said that too.”
You smile gently, “I forgive you, Kookie.”
The relief that spreads through his body is probably visible from the ground. He pulls you into his side and gives you a lingering hug.
Right at that moment, an elaborate firework show begins to illuminate the skyline and carnival.
“Do you see the power you have? You forgive me and fireworks go off. My girlfriend controls the world!” He teases as he turns his head to look at you again.
“And my boyfriend is laying on the brown-nosing quite thick tonight.” You grin, leaning in and capturing his lips in the first kiss you two had shared that day. It had been a long day and this moment, this kiss, embodies all of the highs and lows. Leaning your forehead against his, you caress his cheek before opening your eyes.
You gasp.
“What?”
You continue to softly rub your thumb across his cheek, moving slightly higher until he flinches.
The warm colors of the fireworks cascade in your guilt-ridden eyes. “I’m so sorry, Kookie.” You supply quietly.
“You gave me a black eye, didn’t you?” He asks.
You nod meekly.
A finger under your chin brings Jungkook’s eyes back into focus.
“What goes around, comes around.” He shrugs and smiles. “Don’t apologize, it was an accident.”
“But your face…”
“Will heal.” He finishes for you. “Until then, I’ll look even more rugged.” He scrunches his face in a way that was intended to make him look intimidating, but it instead looks like you need to get off of the Ferris wheel and find the nearest bathroom.
You can’t help yourself: you giggle.
“There’s my girl!” He grins, pulling you back into his side. The two of you watch the firework show in silence until the end. As the final embers fizzle out, you look up at him.
“I love you, Kookie.”
“And I love you.” He places a kiss on your nose. “Let’s go back to the hotel.”
You nod against his chest before pulling away, preparing to depart the ride.
Once firmly on the ground, you entwine his fingers with yours and tug him toward the concession stand for the fourth time that night.
“You’re still hungry?”
“No. Let’s get you some ice for the walk back.”
“Aww...that’ll get rid of it faster!” He complains. You place the faintest of kisses on the bruise.
He winces. “You’re right. Ice would be good.”
“Many receive advice, but only the wise profit from it.” You smirk while you wait.
“Well then, I must be the smartest man in the world.”
“And why is that?”
“I feel like I live the richest life.” He leans forward.
“You’re ego is showing again, Kookie.” You place the bag of ice gently on his cheekbone.
“And you’re keeping me in check. See? Smartest man right here!” He points to himself with his hand that is not holding the bag of ice.
Shaking your head, the two of turn in the direction of the hotel. You lean your head against his shoulder, one hand grabbing his pointing one and the other holds onto his upper arm.
“Thanks for catching up, Y/N.” He nearly whispers a few minutes later.
“Always”

Original Request: “Can you do a reaction where BTS walks into the room and finds you in nothing but your underwear and their shirt as you dance to Spring Day”
A/N: I will be posting a piece for each of the members with this prompt. To make sure they are not too repetitive, some won’t strictly follow the request but will contain the main parts of it. These don’t have much of a plot to them; they are more of a scene. I hope you enjoy! Links at the top of this post will be updated as I post other members!
Jungkook- By the Pool
“Y/N! I’m back!” he shouts as he drops his gym bag by the front door, toeing off his shoes. He sighs as soon as his skin registers that the air conditioning is blasting cold air through the vent near the door. Standing there for a moment, he listens. All is silent.
“Y/N?” Jungkook begins to make his way down the hall, looking in each room as he passes. His fingers are on the hem of his shirt and his wrists are working to help cool the overheated skin underneath by fanning the fabric. He sees your bag and computer near the couch, so he knows you are here. Somewhere.
But where?
Walking into the kitchen, he hears something. It is faint and melodic. Grabbing an apple from the basket on the counter, he lets his body follow the sound to the patio doors.
At first glance, all he sees is the heat radiating from the stone patio and the small sections of grass that definitely need some more attention after the excruciating heat wave that is currently making its presence known. He chews on a bite of the apple, thinking to himself that he is glad he is inside now. The sound that he heard before is a bit louder now, but he is still unable to place where it is coming from or what it is. Looking a little further into the yard, Jungkook freezes mid-bite.
There you are, watering the plants along the edge of the inground pool that was one of the biggest reasons the two of you decided to splurge on this place. You are swaying to the music that Jungkook has been hearing and it looks like you might even be singing along too. The motions of your hips and shoulders emphasize your wardrobe choice to beat the heat. You are wearing your swimsuit, you were probably planning to cool off in the pool after finishing your task. What caused Jungkook to pause is the fact that you are covering your bright suit with one of his long white shirts and the heat was causing it to cling to your skin in the most appealing way.
Setting the apple on the counter, forgotten, Jungkook unlatches the patio door and walks into the suffocating heat. Now without any barriers muddling the sound, he can tell which song you are listening to. One of his...Spring Day. He knows that when you are listening to this song and the playlist that you placed it on, you are in the mood to relax and escape the world.
This plan sounds amazing to him, but he has something he wants to do first. He stealthily walks up behind you until he can wrap his arms around your waist. You squeal and hit him with the container, still partially filled with water, that you were holding.
“Hey!”
“Oh, sorry babe!”
The warmth of your skin should be uncomfortable considering the temperature outside, but the two of you melt into each other. Both of you sway for a moment, your hands on his in front of you. You close your eyes and soak in the moment.
All of a sudden, you find yourself soaked. Literally. With water.
That little jerk just threw you into the pool!
You reach the surface, gasping for air.
“Jungkook! Just what do you think…” you scold only to be interrupted by his lips on yours.
“You were too hot babe. Are too hot. I thought I’d help you out a little.” He smirks.
“Oh, it’s you that is going to need the help.” You smile sweetly at him and bring your hands to rest on his shoulders as his find their favorite spots on your hips.
Jungkook tilts his head slightly and curiosity sparkles in his irises. You mimic his head tilt right before you jump, placing all of your weight and momentum behind your hands, dunking him underwater.
He resurfaces quickly, spluttering and wiping his hands over his face. As they reach his hair, they pause and he opens his eyes. His eyes land directly on you. You are subtly trying to increase the distance between the two of you.
He cocks an eyebrow, takes a breath, and dives underwater.
You turn and try to run away, forgetting you’re in water and swimming would be the best option, and you squeal as you feel strong arms wrap around your knees, submerging you once again.
As soon as your lungs are allowed to breathe in oxygen again, they are denied the relief--blocked by Jungkook’s mouth on yours.
He pulls away, grinning. Chest rising and falling heavily, you return his grin.
“Welcome home, babe.”
A/N: I hope you enjoyed! Let me know what you think!
