MUTUALS MIXTAPE
thank you @vishantikaffar for tagging me! I was excited to cook on this one hehe. I'm incredibly indecisive and I listen to a little of everything, so this was genuinely difficult to decide!!! I'm also a certified yapper so this is going to be SUCH a long post. I am not sorry. :)
First song I fell in love with
first song I saved on spotify cause I can never pick faves and my memory is awful doodoo dog shit so I genuinely don't remember
The first single I bought
I never really bought singles, but the first album I remember purchasing with my own money was Infinity On High by Fall Out Boy and the first music video I remember seeing was Dance Dance by Fall Out Boy ... so I feel like it's safe to assume it was probably a Fall Out Boy song.
The song I do at karaoke
Retired choir/theatre kid with a strong alto voice? yeah...
there's a ton tbh (I have a whole playlist of songs I could do for karaoke if I ever needed help thinking of some) so it is different every time tbh
The song I inexplicably know every lyric to
okay so related to the retired choir/theatre kid thing, I remember every lyric to .... most songs I like or listened to often enough. so I'll pick the ones that stick out in my memory.
Love My Lips from VeggieTales ... listen I was raised in a DEEPLY religious household, and ten days after I turned eight, got my lips stuck in a gate, my friends all laughed... and I just--
Look At Me Now (feat. Lil' Wayne & Busta Rhymes) by Chris Brown (ew) I was the kid that got told all the time that I talked a million miles a minute, so when this song came out and people were like "finally someone that talks faster than you!" about busta rhymes I made it my personal mission to learn the entire thing (sans certain words because I am wHHHHIte)
for a more recent pull: LABOUR - the cacophony by Paris Paloma because I LOOOOOVE feminine rage and the cacophony version especially scratches the brain so good
The best song to play at a party
Personally I'm a big fan of 2000s booty shakers for a party, but pretty much anything upbeat with a good rhythm is my go-to, so here's the ones in my head lately:
Take Your Shirt Off by T-Pain
Roc Steady (feat. Flo Milli) by Megan Thee Stallion
sweat by Haiden Henderson (this guy makes almost entirely sexually suggestive music and then gets shy when he sings it live and it makes me giggle i love him)
The song I can no longer listen to
there's not really any song I just Cannot listen to anymore but there are some that I would most likely skip if they came on shuffle because they make me CRY. here's an example if you feel like crying:
listened to this again while making this just to be sure, did indeed cry
The song I secretly love but I tell everyone I hate
none, i'm polyjamorous and i will listen to lowkey anything and all my friends know it. now the song my FRIENDS hate that I love? I got a number of those. they're mostly silly or annoying. I love a silly goofy song, I cannot lie. Here's some of my fave silly goofies:
McDonald's in the Pentagon by Silly Stu
Skibidi by Little Big (these eurovision freaks i love them)
Jesus Is The One (I Got Depression) by Zack Fox and Kenny Beats
The best song to have sex to
see I feel like this depends on the vibe you're going for but you could go a lot of ways
Suck My Kiss by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Loud by The Home Team
lips by Haiden Henderson (the BLUSH on his face when he first sang this live? obsessed)
The song that changed my life
I honestly don't know, I feel like music has just kinda always been influential in my life but I can't think of a particular song that CHANGED my life necessarily. there are songs that are like sentimental or influential to me though, so I'll put those:
Hello by SHINee (this was the FIRST ever kpop song I heard and did introduce me to a whole new world of music!)
Angel of Music from The Phantom of the Opera (the first musical/operetta I ever remember knowing, and now I'm a musicals girlie)
Take Me To Church by Hozier (first ever hozier song I knew (probably for a lot of people cause I think this was the first of his that really went BIG) and now I am a hozier main I love that guy)
The song that makes me cry
so I forgot this was here and I put a song-that-makes-me-cry above ,... so fuck it, have another one:
(i'm a really easy crier if I can be so honest, and it's okay)
The song that gets me up in the morning
I am generally an enjoyer of upbeat feel goods or hype up music in the morning, so here's some that I like:
Lil Boo Thang by Paul Russell
Dancing in the Moonlight by Toploader
Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen (bless you freddie mercury, my bisexual icon)
9 to 5 by Dolly Parton
The song I’d like played at my funeral
Highway to Hell by AC/DC (kidding....... unless?)
This one is hard tbh cause I'm a firm believer that funerals are more for the living than they are for the dead, but nonetheless I think I would want something classic and comforting.
Lean on Me is always a classic, but also Stand By Me by Ben E. King, What A Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong, or maybe Somewhere Over The Rainbow/What A Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.
10 People I would like to get to know better :)
thank you @vishantikaffar for tagging me! I love getting a little glimpse into your head and sharing a little glimpse into mine!
Last Song: Bifrost - Ummet Ozcan (aka my go-to LOCK-IN music)
Currently Watching: I'm chronically behind on watching TV shows because I mostly end up watching twitch streams while I do other things, whether that be parallel play gaming or lurking in streams while I'm working ... so here's some of my lately beloved streamers because they're great and I love them (chrispy, blaine, longy, ellie, chill, sian, hayley)
Currently Reading: I'm like 80% through Rhythm of War by Brandon Sanderson, and I've been supplementing with fanfiction and little romance novels that I can knock out in a day or two for when I'm not in the headspace for Sanderson. I have a note in my phone of fuck-ass booktok recommendations for when I want like guilty pleasure reads, and some of them have been so good and some have been SO unserious, it's been a great time.
Current Obsession: I've been really locked in on cities skylines II lately, but I think I need to dive back into a story game, and I'm scared to finish RDR2 cause I know it'll break my heart. We also just moved so a LOT of my time has been moving/unpacking/cleaning and will continue to be that way for a bit, PLUS we're about to start a big new project at work that I'm like The Grad Student on so I'm kinda obsessed with that by default.
Last Google Search: tork ss703z 277v timer manual .... related to above project LMAO
Favorite Flower: Crocuses! They're tattooed on my body and have a lot of symbolism to me that I adore. One of the few flowers that blooms in winter, they're representative of many things like blooming through adversity and making the best out of what you have. And they're gorgeous.
Like, look at em. So pretty.
I want to get to know all my mutuals better tbh but here's ten that I would like to see! @woundedsoul12 @amoaliquis @optimisticgrey @serialsforbellara @mushrooms-x-moss @shadowknight19kay @serensama @davrinsleftpectoral @zennihilation @mythals-whore (not me having to count how many this is every time I add another name .... I'm getting a phd................ help)
anyway I was listening to the rhythm of war audiobook while I was doing cell culture work today and I got through "the dog and the dragon" aka I had to (got to) listen to michael kramer in my ear say "you will be warm again" and I was HOLDING BACK TEARS IN THE LAB
the cutscene the first time you see ashveil call himself La Mancha???? "time for bed" whatever you say beautiful
People I want to get to know better
@serensama tagged me and I love to yap to my mutuals as though we are all close personal friends, therefore here I am o7
📖 Reading:
Fanfiction ALWAYS, but as far as printed and published material, I'm like 53% of the way through Rhythm of War by Brandon Sanderson. I really enjoy it but it's slow going since grad school keeps me both busy and exhausted. T_T Sometimes I like to supplement my long epic fantasy books with shorter ones to help me have the momentum of reading even when I don't have the brain power for heavier stories, so here's some books on my maybe next queue that I may read: - Game Changer by Rachel Reid (NOT the audiobook, couldn't get past the voices the narrator did). - Power, Sex, Suicide by Nick Lane (Science book about the mitochondria and life!) - Babel by R.F.Kuang (this one is probably too heavy to supplement RoW with, but I do intend to read it eventually!) - Mayhaps the rest of the Legends & Lattes series by Travis Baldree? (they're pretty low bar in terms of brain power required, and they're cozy and interesting enough to keep me in, I like them for a more lighthearted read!)

🌹 Favourite flower:
I'm horrible at picking favorites but I DO love crocuses and have always felt some sort of kinship to them for whatever reason. (They're also integrated into my first tattoo!)
📺 Currently Watching:
I'm a chronic non-watcher of TV shows, but I watch a lot of twitch streams! I'm a frequent lurker in a lot of places and a frequent chatter in fewer places, but you might spot me around. ;) Now the most recent TV show I watched was probably Season 1 of the Pitt. I watched it all in like 2 days before Season 2 launched and have been waiting for season 2 to finish so I can once again binge the entire thing in a day or two.
🎬 Last Movie:
Same as with TV shows, I don't watch movies frequently, so the most recent one I watched I think was KPOP Demon Hunters a few months back -- which I LOVED by the way.
🎭 Current Obsession:
yeahhhhh I'm lowkey obsessed with cyber keanu, it's making my first ever cyberpunk playthrough really complicated because I'm scared to end it because I KNOW it will make me sad LMAO
✏️ Currently working on:
Grad school has me busy and so it's not that often I get the time or the muse to work on creative things, but I have some drabbles and bits of Ivy x Lucanis that I might one day make into a cohesive fic but TBD. Most of my writing lately is scientific methods lmao.
🔍 Last google search:
looked up iron-sulfur clusters for my chem PhD student friend while we tried designing a new logo for their lab lmao
👕 What you're wearing right now:
Socks with little cat faces and paw prints that my mom got me for Christmas, some tan/khaki colored stretchy pants cause I had to teach in the lab today, and a t-shirt that I bought online with some sea creatures on it that says "all of us are different, none of us are less"
EDIT TO ADD THE CAT SOCKS IN QUESTION: they've got ears and little paw prints on the footie part, I love them
anyway thank you seren for the tag, this was fun!! and I love getting to know my mutuals actually it's kinda fun to learn about the other interests and things we all have aside from our shared fandoms hehe
