I’m looking forward for the “Vacation Bible School” in http://westpresjoliet.org/ (Westminster Presbyterian Church). I’m so excited for it.
Starbucks is opening an enormous, super-upscale location in Chicago! The location, which will be the third Roastery to open in the US, will roast small-batch coffees, serve specialty beverages inspired by cocktails, and bake artisanal food in-house. Currently, Starbucks’ only open Roastery is in Seattle, Washington. The success of the Seattle Roastery, which opened in late 2014, demonstrated to Starbucks the potential for more upscale locations and provided a blueprint for the other Roasteries in the works around the world. 📷:Starbucks For more on the future of Starbucks, visit BusinessInsider.com. #Starbucks #coffee #tea #roastery #MagnificentMile #Chicago #upscale #retail #food #fastfood #travel #tourism #UnitedStates #gourmet #llinois
Despite a new Illinois law prohibiting the use of drones to interfere with hunting, PETA says it is going forward with a plan to catch illegal hunters via unmanned vehicles.
Contrary to my suspicion that animal rights groups would be outspoken for the regulation of drones to prevent the harassing of wildlife, instead, PETA actually planned to use drones to protect animals. However, in 2013 the passing of a new law in Illinois by Gov Pat Quinn criminalizing the use of unmanned drones to interfere with someone’s hunting or fishing made their plans illegal.
The law was passed after public outcry by hunting advocates, who threatened to shoot down invasive PETA drones intent on exposing unethical or illegal hunting practices such as drunk-hunting or shooting game from the side of the road. PETA lawyer Jared Goodman pointed out that the law prohibits interfering with “lawful” hunting activities, however the PETA drones are intended to film only “illegal” hunting practices.
This controversy stands as an example of one of the ethical issues regarding drones, rather than the more publically reported legal or safety issues we hear about weekly. The term “drone ethics” certainly is not a new one with most concerns regarding the invasion of privacy. As more laws and regulations surface, you can count on more and more of them to be addressing ethics issues.
