Spain killed an estimated 1 million to tens of millions. Your country committed genocide plain and simple. And you expect me, of the same people you committed genocide against, to give a fuck about your dictatorship? I don’t fucking care. You feel like the victim because your country is now weaker than your imperialists cousin because you lost your territories? Then your country became unstable and turned the violence against you? Aw I should cry. Seriously go fuck yourself you are blindly privileged and you can’t even see it. And no I don’t want to hear shit from a western nation talking about the US and its BS if that person won’t unequivocally acknowledge how massive the harm their country has caused and how massively privileged they are to live in that country. Shut the fuck up
You also seem to think I’m defending the US that nation is fucking evil and so is Spain. And so is France. And so is England. And so is Portugal. And so is Germany. And so is Belgium. And so is the Netherlands. And so is Israel. And so is Canada. And so is Australia. And every shitstain white supremacist nation.
You keep yelling. And I keep calmly reminding you that no one here has denied a single historical fact you've mentioned. Not one. I haven’t once asked for your sympathy, your forgiveness, or your tears. What I did was point out the basic geopolitical reality that conflating centuries-old colonial crimes with current imperial power structures is both ahistorical and politically useless. If that makes you angry, I suggest asking yourself why, because it certainly wasn’t an emotional appeal on my end.
Your outrage doesn’t make your argument stronger. In fact, it’s revealing how fast you went from “critique colonialism” to “shut the fuck up” the moment someone contextualized it beyond your meme-level takes. You’re not engaging in analysis, you’re just throwing countries at the wall like darts and calling it decolonialism. That’s not politics. That’s noise.
Now, let's talk about Spain. Because it’s painfully obvious you don’t know anything about it beyond whatever bullet point made it into your favorite infographics. If you think shouting “fuck Spain” will emotionally destabilize someone like me, then you’ve clearly never met a spanish person. The harshest critics of Spain are spanish themselves, and the fiercest among us are precisely those who’ve been oppressed by the Spanish state: Catalans, Basques, Galicians, and others who have been systematically repressed linguistically, culturally, and politically for generations.
I’m from catalan roots. Spanish isn’t even my first language you Einstein. What you’ve said about Spain? Baby food. I say worse before breakfast. If you knew anything about Spain, you'd know that talking about its “unity” or “national pride” is laughable. We're a country that devoured itself during a civil war, lived under a fascist dictatorship for 40 years, and still to this day deals with the consequences of an unresolved, authoritarian past. A past that many, like myself, actively and vocally fight against. You could’ve chosen literally any other country if you wanted a symbol of nationalist stability. Spain? Spain is fractured to its bones. That’s why your attempt to “call out” my supposed nationalism is not only wrong, it’s deeply embarrassing for you because only shows your illiteracy about the subject. Only shows that you're here for try to make me angry, no because you really care and, of course, showing you don't know a shit.
Also: you’ve spent multiple comments referring to “your people,” “your ancestors,” “your genocide,” but have curiously avoided ever saying where you're from. Which is funny, because if you're from Latin America, I’d gladly continue this in Spanish, and we could actually talk about anti-colonial thought with some nuance. But something tells me you're not. Something tells me this is more about a vague sense of borrowed rage than any lived political struggle.
And look, if your entire approach is “anyone born in a Western nation is forever disqualified from criticizing the current global superpower,” then congratulations: you’ve invented a rhetorical trapdoor that lets US imperialism go unchecked, while still pretending to be radical. Convenient.
But you still haven’t managed to do the one thing you clearly wanted: make me angry. And that’s because you don’t understand who you’re talking to. You picked the wrong spanish girl here my friend. I shit on Spain daily. You're going to need to try a lot harder if you want a person who speaks catalan with their whole family to get mad because some random nobody says Spain sucks. Of course sucks,. Did you know that, in Spain, speaking my language was punishable by prison until just a few decades ago? That people had to speak it in secret, behind closed doors? No, you don’t know that, because you’re a geopolitical illiterate. You don’t know that because you’re ignorant. You don’t know that because you go around making comparisons and shouting about contexts you don’t understand.
But hey, it’s fine, keep insulting Spain. I’ve already done it like four times today myself xD
Maybe try an Italian next. Better luck there. If they're not from the south, i guess.
