Love this detail mentioning Sylphy’s loss for words having been due to how Emilia looked as she spoke of Subaru.
Sylphy probably is going to be so utterly confused lmao when she learns Subaru & Emilia aren’t an item when Emilia looks like THAT talking about him.
Aside from those bits, the rest of this scene was nice. It’s good Emilia snapped out of that brief mindset she had of letting Subaru take on everything himself. Her faith in him is still making me hella uncomfortable though given the underlying context of RBD eughh… Emilia prob will look back on her faith with Subaru with this same uncomfortable feeling I’m getting once the girl learns of RBD.
Pffft- look how Subaru is describing Julius’s attacks to be “beautiful” and calling his figure slender. This guy man.
Moving on from Subaru being a disaster, the last portion here where Subaru views Julius’s attack as something where it was the epitome of mercy in the act of ending a life is eyebrow raising to me.
It’s not untrue the way Julius did finish the beasts were that, but for Subaru to describe it in that way… well. I’m pondering if he is thinking back to his own death at Julius’s hands and the merciful nature of it.
Hhhhhhhmmmm. See. Otto sounds good here in that he wants to protect all the people he cares for and is even willing to face his fear of the Cult to do it.
The thing that bothers me is the dialogue here at the end. That very much is a mentality that can easily be contorted to be an antagonists way of viewing things.
Otto is so gonna do such horrible things for his loved ones. I can feeeeeel it. Somebody is gonna get appalled at his behavior one day I’ve said in my Arc 4 commentary and I stand by that wholeheartedly. Just who shall be the first to see Otto’s true face of being hella nasty is the question.
Oho? Subaru claiming his heart flutters at Reinhard aloud and flashing the redhead a smile? How bold of him.
Anyhow! Seeing everybody here have some disgruntlement at Reinhard having not arrived on scene earlier is wonderfully human and I enjoy that being depicted. Subaru diffusing that tension also showcases how good he is at managing people socially.

But wait. It gets worse folks. When I did my digging into the Winter Triangle stuff for my Alcoholic Panic commentary during the 1st week of November, I discovered a rather curious thing the Winter Triangle was part of that which is what I sat on for months.
How AWFULLY convenient it seems to be again, that basically near confirmed Natsuki Al over here with his scent also just so happens to be linked to a known Natsuki here in the form of Rigel just casually in this Astronomy related thing.
Especially when this Astronomy thing is basically a bigger version of the Winter Triangle since the triangle is considered a segment of it and the triangle works out like this when you overlap it w/ the hexagon.
So I’m somehow supposed to not look at this Winter Hexagon Rigel & Al stuff funky when Tappei CLEARLY knows what the Winter Triangle is and that’s merely a smaller sub piece of this hexagon? And with how Tappei is a troll in Astronomy??
Yeah. Nope! I can’t see it as a coincidence.
Further things make this Rigel & Al connection even more egregious to me. Specifically, this here on the Rigel star.
Soooooo. Al uses Earth Magic prominently and then this star is associated with a foot which in this series is connected to the Earth with how Garfiel is linked to the Earth via his feet?
There’s also the fact later this Arc we’ll have Al proclaim that he can’t be loved by anybody prior to stomping his foot down and causing the sewer he & Capella were in to collapse.
Heck, the Anime even went out of its way to put an extra emphasis of a frame unto Al’s foot as he stomps & says that line as you can see here.
THEEEENNN to make this Rigel stuff even more wack to me it’s got a variable of it split into the name “Algebar” as you can see in the image and shorten that to the 1st 2 letters and huzzah you get Al.
Al is obviously running away from the name Aldebaran, but c’mon that’s waaaaay too weird to also have this too with all this other Rigel shenanigans.
Frankly, I’m now moreso questioning whether Al is connected to Rigel, IS actually Rigel from Sloth IF somehow (how the fuck hopping from an IF story which would be a alternate timeline would work though I have 0 clue…) or if maybe this is a case where Al’s name is actually Rigel since I sorta doubt he was born as Aldebaran? That seems more a title of Following Star thrust unto him afterall rather then a genuine name.
Mmmmm. Al’s weird reaction to Rem in LN 6 and how he mistakes her for Ram prior to then learning she was Rem & asking if Ram was still alive gets even weirder with this entire Rigel stuff in mind.
Surely he’d recognize his own mom if he was/is Rigel from Sloth IF…? So maybe I can safely rule out that option? That seems reasonable but this is Tappei so I dunno maybe he wants me to think this way.
Mkay. Now it’s this weird situation where Al definitely has all the signs pointing to him being a Natsuki in body that ISN’T a duplicate of Subaru’s body, but he’s got a link to Rigel that may-or-may-not-be his actual name or Tappei trolling and just in actuality implying Al has a connection to that child somehow.
Oh what in the actual fuck… urgh. This raises more questions. And how does Echidna factor into all of this weirdness I wonder since I’m like 90% certain that women knew Al at some point I’ve previously expressed. For all I know that meddlesome women could currently be contracted w/ Al rn and Al is basically on the Greed IF route.
Guuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhh. More questions then answers this series I swear to god. Somehow this scene doesn’t end the weirdness there though cause Al remarks casually the following.
“Weird how we ran into each other’s masters like that.”
This Arc ain’t the first time Al & Subaru have run into each other’s masters and stuck beside then since LN 4 also had that occur. And Al in LN 4 was heavily implied to have purposefully been bumbling around so Emilia’s kind nature would take pity on him and stick by his side like glue.
I- urghhhhhhh. What is GOING ON HERE? This is so friggen weird to blatantly have Al call back to this basically. Is Tappei maybe trying to suggest that moments where Subaru takes Al’s place of servitude (aka being next to Priscilla) horrible things occur to him?
The obvious example is how in LN 4 his intro to Priscilla is what later will allow Subaru to get a coach ride w/ Priscilla into the castle for the conference.
The less clear example of horrid things is going to be what is upcoming now as Subaru shall fully bear the mantle of hero in the eyes of others which clearly is going to lead to horrific suffering for Subaru in the future.
Anywaaaays. Ending this thread on this note but. Garfiel being so aggressive to Al and calling him a “coward” is neat to see that negative view of Al prior to Al even really dissing on Subaru.
Dang so the Inn time where Priscilla crashed the party happened only this morning? Hell of a lot happened in less then 24 hours then.
Aside from that, Al being shocked it “went this route” is such a great way to foreshadow his looping. I’m intrigued whom he thought would pick up though. Did he expect Regulus instead of Emilia? Cause dude clearly had an idea of where this would go if his route comment is any indication.
Why did Al even try calling then if he believed it was Regulus though…? Was he going to ragebait Regulus into giving him some info and then resetting the loop so Regulus’s anger wouldn’t effect Emilia? That seems possible.
Anyhow. This end here where Al trails off on this whole “Bro…” thing then switching to use Subaru’s full name. I swear to god man. It’s so sus he calls him bro in THIS WAY with all these implied familial links these 2 have.
OOOOOH. What a scene. Such a shame this was cut. Perfectly fits for Julius to apologize on letting Gluttony get away. Splendid foreshadowing on Joshua’s fate too.
Also. Julius not thinking Subaru understands the meaning of fear does sound rather admiring though which is giving me the ick. Because Julius coming to admire Subaru more and view him as an upcoming hero is not a good thing at all. Julius would be such an enabler for that mindset of Subaru’s afterall.
Anywaaaays. Subaru thinking of connections between others as “shared blessings” making me a bit uncomfortable with how blessings in this series have been portrayed + the whole religious connotations. I suppose that is probably part of the intention though since Subaru does anything to maintain said connections between him & others and look where it leads him.
