SYLUS

𓅂 He knows how capable you are when it comes to defending yourself. Yet, he knows that you won't always come out unscathed. He tends to all the wounds you receive during your failed missions, his lips slowly grazing every bruise and cut that marked your skin.

"I should have been there.." He frowns, wrapping the gauze around your waist.

𓅂Anytime you complain about your body being too stiff, he's already there- taking off your clothes and massaging your shoulders and feet with essential aromatic oils he once stumbled on during one of his weekly shopping sprees.

𓅂 He loves to dress you up. I mean, he'll keep an entire closet full of dresses that cost more than your apartment, just for you to wear them in events.

𓅂You're uncomfortable in your heels? He's already got the counters tucked under his fingers as he lifts you off the ground using one arm. Anytime you complain about being too heavy for him he simply looks at you like you've gone nuts.

"Darling, why do you think I work out so much?" He smirks.

𓅂You had a bad day at work? He already knows. By the time you come home, he's already sitting on the sofa, the coffee table displaying all your favourite drinks, snacks and dvds.

"A little birdie told me that a particular kitten could not enjoy her day.." His hands glide through your soft locks, wiping the tears off your cheeks as you vent to him about the amount of work that you had to deal with.

𓅂 Anytime you both get into an argument, he'll always make sure to find ways to make you talk to him first. For example, he'll purposefully tighten all the jars you have, hide away your weapons or shoes, and always place the remotes on the highest shelves that only he can reach.

CALEB

→You always found it hard to braid your hair- often getting confused between which section to bind first. Eventually, you stopped trying all together, choosing to wear a simple ponytail instead. But he noticed.

So, he learned it for you. It became a sort of routine that every morning, you'd sit in front of caleb while he'd braid your hair with the most serious expression on his face.

→whenver your out for your missions, caleb will secretly steal one of your perfumes-specifically the perfume you wear around him- and spray it on his shirts to feel closer to you during the night. Heck, if he could he would buy a life-sized body pillow with your face on it

→makes it his life mission to carry your bags. He's been doing this since middle school and he still does it. Even if you've got a dozen bags, he'll never let you hold a single one.

"You don't have to do this caleb!" You'll try to protest, trying to grab a few bags from his grip but he'll simply shake his head.

"I want to, Pips. Plus, if I let the pretty lady carry all the stuff then what kind of man would I be?"

→ He wears your lipstick stained kisses to work without even realising. It takes him a very long time to remove them, mostly because he doesn't want to but after negotiating with himself for about ten minutes in his personal bathroom, he reluctantly rubs it off, still leaving a smudge of red on his cheekbones on purpose.

→You both share the same Spotify account so any song that has been catching your ear recently? He's already listening to it on repeat.

→He loves it when you do his makeup. If there is a particular make-up style you want to take on but you don't have a person to try it on? He's already sitting between your legs-which are straddling his thighs as you tower over him. He's holding your waist to keep you upright, occasionally wiggling his eyebrows every time you make eye contact with him.

"Do I look pretty, Pips?" His lashes flutter close as you apply the eyeliner on his lids.

"Like a million bucks."

"Don't be upset when your friends start saying that I look even better than you."

ZAYNE

⛄You moved into Zayne's apartment just six months after officially announcing your relationship. Living together with different schedules sounds harder than it is. By the time you would get up to begin your day, he would already punch in his arrival card.

It started off small but soon, your fridge was covered in post-it notes, smothered in doodles and notes about when they were going to be back by the night signed off with "I love you"s.

⛄Whenever you both are cuddling together, his hands would always rest under your shirt to feel the warmth of your skin against his cool fingers.

⛄Always plans dates during his off-days. No matter how hectic the week has been for him, he'll make sure to plan an entire day of sightseeing and activities with you.

⛄When you got a cavity because of your delayed visits to the dentist, Zayne cut off all the sugar there was in the house. He even stopped going to his favorite pastry cafe until you got your tooth filled which you thought was practically impossible since he never gave up sugar.

⛄Zayne loves karoke nights. He would much rather attempt to sing a temu version of "Blank space" than be stuck filing reports till midnight. He also loves hearing your voice, feeling it serenade him to sleep.

⛄ You know your getting an earful whenever you end up in the ER. Somehow, Zayne always volunteers to treat you himself even if he's got a major surgery coming up next.

Even if you got a minor sprain, he's already got his glare on his face- ready to give you another lecture on how to "look down while walking".

XAVIER

⭐ Ever since you started dating Xavier, you always gave him handmade gifts for all your anniversaries. One day, whilst searching for the new game CD you'd planned on playing with him, you stumbled upon a big box filled with all the charms, notes, flowers that you had crafted for him.

⭐ Everyone knows that he isn't the...best of cooks but yet, he still insists on helping you in the kitchen whenever you try cooking for him. Luckily, he obliges to help with simple tasks like cracking eggs or whisking the batter.

⭐ He will run out of work if it means spending time with you.

"Xavier are you busy? I was wondering if we could check out-"

"No I'm not busy at all." He yells whilst fighting off a wanderer.

⭐He's always got his hands around your waist. Even if you both are standing in a grocery store, he'll wrap his arms around them, giving it a gentle tug towards him.

⭐ He's a huge biter He loves to nip at your ears whenever your back is facing towards him. He'll randomly see you and the first thought that enters his mind is that he has to bite you. You honestly don't mind anymore, now becoming immune to his attacks.

RAFAYEL

🪼When days come along when both of you are seeking an escape from the world, you'll secretly sneak off to an isolated beach to camp. Rafayel would be busy fetching for sea shells while you'd be setting up the tent.

"Do you think we'll be able to hide for long?" You'll whisper under the darkness of the night, only to your lemurian. "Even if we don't, at least we were able to catch a breath from all this noise."

🪼You're too exhausted to even talk? Rafayel has already got you nestled in his lap, rubbing small circles on your back while he picks up the paintbrush in between to mark his canvas. You'd occasionally steal glances at his masterpiece, letting out small hums of approval.

🪼His hand always finds yours in a huge crowd, tucking your intertwined fingers inside the pocket of his suit as he faces the buyers of his paintings. While he's busy talking, his thumb would rub your knuckles as a way to let you know he's almost done.

🪼 He will always pretend to be scared while watching a horror movie when in reality, he knows that your more afraid than him. During every jumpscare he's already got your head buried deep into his chest as he curses at those monsters for "scaring his bodyguard".

🪼All his old sketchbooks are filled with your portraits, and every new book of his has a page filled with all your poor yet adorable doodles of Rafayel - which he looks at whenever he feels lonely.

You never took Sylus as the shutterbug type. He rarely ever appeared in or took any photos, the times he did were big occasions that you have hung up on the walls.

Your first anniversary, your promise rings, engagement, wedding, honeymoon. The little memories captured, framed and lined up along hallway and console tables. You were always the one handling the camera, trying to catch the joyful moments between you and your husband. 

There’s a recent addition to the photo collection. The birth of your daughter, a new family member who has singlehandedly changed the way you and Sylus view life itself.

Not only has she changed your status to parents, or unlocked a new protective side from the both of you but now Sylus has never put down a camera ever since you woke up again from giving birth.

Your daughter is laying on her back on her little playmat, a normal activity for a baby who’s only a few months old. Sylus however, is documenting the occasion as if she isn’t in this position everyday. 

“Come on baby… Roll over for papa?” Sylus tries to coax, camera rolling on his phone in one hand and his car keys jingling in front of her with the other. The baby reaches out with her small hands for the keys, making sounds of effort and kicking her legs to give the illusion she’s about to make a move.

“Yes, yes! All you have to do is turn your body. Turn your body,” he says slowly. He read once that repeated phrases are especially beneficial for a baby’s development and it’s all he does now. 

“Roll. Roollll…” 

The baby only laughs. Laughs like she’s finding her father’s attempts funny so she won’t do it. Sylus frowns. He’s been doing this every single day for about two months, trying his best to help his little girl finally move on her own. 

“You’ve been awfully energetic,” Sylus comments. He watches the pair of tiny legs kick at such a speed that her body starts sliding up the playmat. Sylus grabs a foot and tugs her back down to her original place.

“You could at least move this way,” he complains, gesturing a roll-over sign. “Instead of speeding away from me.” He places his phone down, now just sitting and staring at his daughter. 

Sylus grabs a banana, her favourite fruit. Even though she can only eat it mashed up, she still recognises the fruit in its true form. Her arms are outstretched as long as she can, not even a ruler’s length. 

“Nuh-uh. This is for papa,” he says softly, taking a bite from the banana. She lets out a small shriek for no reason, chewing on her balled up fists. Sylus could spend hours doing nothing but simply watching her move and look around with those eyes that she inherited from you. 

She rolls to her side, arms still outstretched. Then, like in slow motion, she tumbled over onto her stomach. 

Sylus freezes. He almost drops his banana.

“She did it… She did! Baby! You rolled over!” He cheered. You’d think he has just won an award or got a promotion. No, his little girl finally rolled over onto her stomach.

She lets out a cry of triumph, followed by delighted giggles when Sylus hoists her up and starts to celebrate the victory. 

You get a call.

“Our daughter has rolled over successfully today,” he reports, beaming.

“Oh, that’s amazing! Ugh, I hate that I wasn’t there to see it,” you groan, slumped over a desk succumbing to the paperwork.

“It’s fine, sweetie. You know I never put down my camera. I have–” he pauses when he realises. He had actually put it down.  “I didn’t get it on camera.”

Sylus looks at his daughter, the two of them blinking at each other as he comes to the realization. 

He picked up his camera and didn’t let go the entire next day until he caught her rolling over again.

Somehow, you’d ended up in the N109 Zone for Christmas.

It wasn’t like the barrage of texts from Luke and Kieran had weighed upon your decision, the rapid influx of messages from the twins demanding your presence for Christmas. That coupled with the image of Sylus alone on Christmas night hadn’t made your stomach churn and heart ache at all.

The year had been a tumultuous one. Wanderers, disturbing visions and wanted criminals had you on edge these past few months, so perhaps unwinding with said, now somewhat mellow, wanted criminals was warranted in some way. 

You heft the presents under your arms, moving your fingers to stabilize the wrapped goods when you feel one of them begin to slip. Shopping hadn’t been too difficult, although choosing a gift for Sylus had proved to be somewhat of a challenge. You weren’t sure whether to get him something heartfelt or to gift him a refurbished gun with new prototyped features that were advertised to the Hunter Association. 

The glittering streams of tinsel drags you out of your thoughts, a smile pulling at your lips as you imagine Luke, Kieran and Sylus decorating. You hear panicked, hushed whispers when you turn the corner, a laugh spilling out of you when you see the sight before you.

Luke perched atop Kieran’s shoulders, Kieran grumbling irritatedly when Luke flails and misses the tip of the Christmas tree, the golden star falling off only for Kieran to shift and have Luke catch it.

“It’s not that hard, you idiot,” Kieran grunts, his knees bending in an attempt to readjust to Luke’s weight.

“Then you try!” Luke protests.

“I thought you two were meant to be in tune,” you muse, stepping closer, over the strewn wrapping paper and bending down to add your presents to the growing collection under the Christmas tree. 

“We are,” they both say in unison, their eyes landing on you.

“You made it!” Luke says happily, squirming, “Boss will be glad.”

“ Really glad,” Keiran adds, his annoyance forgotten momentarily. “We’re glad too.”

You smile at them, crossing your arms over your chest. “It’s nice to see you guys too. Maybe you should try holding the star at the tip, Luke?”

“That’s what I told him!” Kieran says, letting out an aggrieved sigh. 

Luke huffs indignantly, adjusting his position yet again as Keiran steps closer to the tree, giving Luke some more leverage. It’s another failed attempt and Kieran is rolling his eyes, dumping Luke onto his feet unceremoniously. 

“You do me now.”

“What about her?” Luke asks, pointing at you.

“You could ask Mephisto,” you offer, pointing at the mechanical crow that was currently preening his feathers. “What do you say, buddy?”

Mephisto gives an indignant squawk, his little head turning away arrogantly, tending to his feathers with care.

“Nevermind,” you sigh, before looking towards the twins. “Kieran is taller than me, though.”

“Just get on,” Luke whines as he bends his knees, waiting for you to climb up onto his shoulders.

You open your mouth to protest, but there’s a warm hand curling over your hip, pulling you back gently, flush against a firm chest. “Let’s not badger our guest, hm?”

Deep and velvety, you have no doubts as to who this voice belongs to. Your head tilts back to find Sylus smirking down at you, his expression amused.

“Glad you could join us, sweetie. The N109 Zone isn’t usually so… festive.”

“Yeah, well, apparently you were missing me, so I figured I’d drop in,” you tease, a sly smile spreading across your face.

Luke and Kieran snicker until Sylus’ stern expression silences them, his hand squeezing at your hip in warning.

“I never said that.”

“Must’ve been the wind,” you murmur.

“Right,” Sylus deadpans.

You squeak when the red mist wraps around you, lifting you off of the ground, the golden star being thrust into your hand by the same swirling mist. The trio of men beneath you seem amused as the tendrils sweep you higher, closer to the top of the tree, giving you enough height to place the star right where it needs to be.

Sylus’ Evol dissipates as it sets you down onto your feet, the mist sweeping across playfully and making your dress flutter. 

“That’s one way to do it,” Kieran remarks, slinging his arm over Luke’s shoulders before they shoot each other knowing glances and disappear from the living room.

“You came,” Sylus says once the twins have left, his arms crossing over his chest.

“I did,” you reply, peering up at him, your hands clasping behind your back, “too bad you never sent me a personal invitation.” Sylus smiles, and you can’t help but think he looks softer in this light, the ruthless leader of Onychinus replaced by a man who seems less intense and more accommodating than usual.

“I figured Luke and Kieran would’ve gotten through to you,” he muses, his head tilting as he lets his gaze dip over you.

You do the same, taking in his sweater and trousers, trying to quell the inconvenient yet undeniable pull of attraction you feel towards him. 

“Well, they did,” you sigh, managing to drag your gaze back up to meet his, “although I can’t say I appreciated how many texts they sent.”

“The twins tend to get excited,” Sylus replies, reaching out towards you, his fingers tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.

It’s hard to not notice how Sylus’ touch lingers for a moment, his expression looking a little absent-minded as though remembering something from the past. Your brows furrow, unable to decide between asking him or letting his touch linger further. His hand drops away after a few moments before he clears his throat. 

“I made dinner,” he announces.

You laugh, eyes lighting up at the thought of Sylus in the kitchen. You don’t quite believe him though, not when Sylus had enough money to hire at least a dozen personal chefs.

“You’re not serious,” you say, head tilting in amusement.

“I am,” Sylus smirks, his hand landing on your lower back as he guides you forward, towards the hallway, “Luke and Kieran pitched in.”

“Now I feel special,” you muse.

“I suppose you are,” Sylus replies, his expression sobering, “to all of us.”

You’re taken aback by the sincerity in his words, heart giving way to a flutter that you attempt to squash down by pinching yourself, not that it helps. This sense of belonging isn’t what you’d planned on, warmth blooming in your chest as you stare up at Sylus and remember the twins. It’s nice, really, to be valued like this. You can’t help but think you could get used to it. 

Laughter echoes through the hallway as you and Sylus move through it. You startle when Kieran shouts, his voice urgent. 

“Don’t move!”

“Oh, look at that ,” Luke sighs dramatically, feigning innocence as he peers upwards, directing his gaze above you and Sylus.

Bewilderment flashes across your face until you hear Sylus let out a low laugh. You tip your head back, eyes narrowing when you spy the sprig of mistletoe hanging right above where you’re standing. Mephisto adds in something that sounds like a suspiciously happy squawk, and you stare at the crow, realising you’ve been betrayed. 

“Funny,” you say drily, shaking your head. 

Kieran sighs just like Luke, as though he can’t quite believe the situation. The cunning expression in their eyes gives them away. 

Devious, little brats.

“Well, you can’t move now,” Luke says, sounding positively aggrieved. 

“I suppose you’ll just have to kiss, isn’t that right?” Kieran says, looking towards Luke. Luke nods, a self-satisfied smile settling on his face. “Those are the rules.”

“What rules?” you shoot back, glaring at the pair of twins, “there are no rules. I could quite literally just walk away.”

“Christmas tradition !” Luke and Kieran both argue, their faces looking a little crestfallen when they hear the tone of your voice, “you have to kiss!”

You can feel your heart twinge at the earnest tone present in their voices, your eyes flickering up to meet Sylus’. Strangely enough, he doesn’t seem to have any protests, his gaze boring down into yours expectantly. 

“You seriously have nothing to say?” you grouse, head tilting.

“It’s just a kiss, sweetie,” he replies, his arm wrapping around your waist to bring you closer to him. “What’s the matter, hm? Afraid you’ll fall for me?”

“The thought is laughable,” you retort, trying to ignore the soothing squeeze of his hand against your side; the unrelenting warmth that was currently seeping into you and melting your hardened resolve.

“I suppose we’ll find out,” Sylus murmurs, his fingers gripping your chin to tilt your head. “We have time.”

“Move a little to the right!” Kieran calls out, waving his hand.

“What for?” you ask exasperatedly, feeling Sylus step closer, moving you with him.

“For- for the aesthetic !” Luke huffs out.

The twins look a little impatient as you stare at them, your brows furrowing further when you see Kieran whisper something to Luke.

Sylus doesn’t let you dwell longer on the twins’ antics, his calloused hand cupping your cheek to turn you towards him. 

“Merry Christmas, sweetie.”

Your eyes flutter shut as his lips slot over yours, your hand curling around his wrist. Sylus kisses you like he means it, lips soft yet insistent, his thumb smoothing over your cheek. You forget where you are momentarily, knees feeling weak as you fist his sweater pulling him closer, rising up on the tips of your toes to meet his kiss better.

Sylus tilts his head, deepening the kiss. Your stubborn resolve weakens pitifully and you can only think about how perfect this moment is, how good Sylus’ lips feel, how warm his embrace is-

There’s a blinding array of flashes, white sparking out from under your closed eyelids until your eyes snap open, head turning to the side to find both Luke and Kieran with cameras in hand.

“Oh, shit,” Luke begins.

“I thought the flash was off,” Kieran mutters, frowning.

You grit your teeth, taking one step towards them, your eyes narrowing. “Give that to me.”

Luke and Kieran hug their cameras to their chest protectively.

“Christmas memories,” Luke laughs nervously when he sees the determination in your eyes. “Wouldn’t- wouldn’t want to lose those.”

Kieran nods in agreement.

“Boss!” They cry out when the cameras get swept out of their hands by Sylus’ Evol, one of them landing in your hands.

You click through the images, heat blossoming in your stomach when you see how intimate the kiss looks, Sylus’ body pressed firmly against yours, his hand on your cheek. It’s romantic, your somewhat eager response, Sylus’ tight hold, all captured closely through the lens.

“‘s nice,” Sylus murmurs, his chest pressing up against your back as he peers down at the little camera screen.

“ No ,” you shake your head vehemently, “it’s not nice.”

“We look good,” he whispers, his voice dropping lower, lips brushing over the shell of your ear.

You try to ignore the way his hands feel on your hips, his body pressing a little closer into yours. It’s hard not to agree with him the longer you stare at the images though, you do look good, and Luke’s interjection about Christmas memories has you feeling a little forgiving. 

“Fine, keep them,” you sigh, handing the camera back to Luke whilst Sylus does the same to Kieran, “but don’t share them, please.”

Luke and Kieran nod enthusiastically and you snag onto Kieran’s arm before he can leave, your voice dropping to a low whisper.

“Send them to me,” you whisper, “and not a word to anyone.”

Kieran smiles deviously and you roll your eyes, reaching up to ruffle his hair. 

“You’re such a jerk, Kieran.”

“C’mon,” he whines, “you love us.”

You smile up at him, your arm hooking with his. “Maybe just a little.”

He snorts and you let out a laugh, following after Luke and Sylus who had left earlier, talking about something else. Dinner goes smoothly enough and you refuse to tell Luke and Kieran what their presents are, despite their whining.

You feed Mephisto little bites of your food, your finger petting his little feathery head gently every now and then. He preens at the attention, letting out an odd sounding chirp every now and then when you tap his little beak and offer him some more food.

Sylus is seated beside you and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to stop stealing glances at the side of his face. The longer you stare, the more you can feel yourself falling deeper, a pressing crisis unfolding in your mind. 

Fuck . You think you might like him.

Deep rooted feelings of yearning never lead to any good, and yet, you were too impatient not to act on them.You wait patiently, fingers playing with themselves in your lap, for the perfect opportunity. 

It presents itself when Luke and Kieran break out into an insignificant quarrel, their eyes moving elsewhere. Sylus is already looking towards you and you’re leaning forward, cupping the back of his head to bring him closer, lips meeting his in a slow, sweet kiss. 

“What was that for?” Sylus murmurs when you break away, his eyes roving over the flush settling on your cheeks.

“No reason,” you reply nonchalantly, leaning back in your chair.

Sylus scoffs out a laugh, behaving seemingly unaffected. There’s a light flush dusted across his cheeks however, his tongue darting out to taste the remnants of you on his lips.

“This is for no reason too,” he says, grabbing your chin and pulling you closer.

You sigh contentedly when he kisses you, arms wrapping around his neck, your lips working against his a little feverishly as though you can’t get enough.

A cacophony of protests breaks out from the twins when they see you and Sylus kissing at the table.

“Gross! Get a room!”

You roll your eyes, breaking away from Sylus to peer over at them. 

“You were the ones that made us kiss,” you huff, crossing your arms over your chest.

“Yeah, we didn’t mean all the time,” Luke corrects.

“Deal with it,” Sylus interrupts, brushing a kiss to your cheek.

You hum happily, Sylus’ hand warm as it encases yours under the table. Luke pouts and Kieran mirrors him, both of them slumping back in their chairs.

You and Sylus get a little more privacy when you step outside, snow dusting across both of you, covering the shrubbery and trees. Mephisto swoops through the air, his mechanical wings flapping as he lands on a tree branch above. The icy chill of the wintery air isn’t so bad, not when Sylus is stepping up behind you, his chin resting on your shoulder as he holds you close to him.

“It was bound to happen,” he murmurs, kissing your cheek again as you stare up at the night sky, glittering with stars.

“You seem awfully sure of yourself,” you reply, squeezing his forearms.

“Let’s just say… I had an inkling. I know you, sweetie.”

“I don’t understand what you mean sometimes,” you sigh, peering up at him, head resting on his shoulder.

“You don’t have to,” he whispers, dropping a kiss to your temple.

You sway gently in his arms, pressing yourself closer, eyes slipping shut. You’d kill for more moments of peace like this.

It never seems to last for long.

The beginnings of torn wrapping paper begin to fill your ears and you peek through the glass window to find the twins tearing at their presents.

“Oh, these are sick !” Luke announces, beginning to twirl around the pair of knives you had gotten him.

“They have to wait!” you protest, reaching for the door, “Sylus, they have to wait!”

“Let them,” Sylus murmurs, dragging you back into his arms, his chest rumbling with laughter.

You can’t help but let out an exasperated noise, smiling up at him. Sylus lowers his head and you nudge your nose against his gently, pressing a tender kiss to his lips.

“What?” he asks quietly when you trace the curve of his cheek, your fingers splaying across his skin.

You kiss him again, revelling in the softness of his eyes when you pull apart. There's a strange warmth in your chest, an unknown pull in the back of your mind as though something familiar were evading you.

You feel like you know him too.

“Merry Christmas, Sylus.”

caleb is so damn big and buff and tall and all muscles and what makes it worse is that he’s a sucker for hugs. every time he leans down, you have to adjust your limbs and accommodate to the span of his shoulders, while he could so easily wrap his beefy arms around your waist like you’re his favorite teddy bear. when caleb hugs, he’s all in, and more often than not you stumble from the force of it and in that way he reminds you of a golden retriever that doesn’t realize his strength. you swear if he has tail, it’d be wagging so hard for every time he comes down for a hug. he likes to rest his chin on your shoulder, and you pat him on the head multiple times before he burrows closer into your neck, as if he’s trying to breathe in your scent. he also has somewhat a fixation on your waist, or any part of your body that’s within his reach, really. he just has to have his hands physically on you, and every second spent being away from you is torture. the middle of your waist is never safe from him. you’d have to pry his hands off, but is that really what you want? his hands stay there like accessory on you, the sides of your waist fitting his hand and if caleb is really honest, he has, on the countless occasion when he’d hug you, had multiple perverted thoughts when he grips your waist and the fat of your skin fit snugly in his hold. perhaps he’d be down to spill it some other time after you butter him up for praises, but right now, caleb just wants to exist in this space where you’re safe and content in his arms.

"So… you want to stay here."

"Yes."

"With nothing to do but just watch me work."

"You'd be correct."

For all the daylights he could muster, Sylus couldn't wrap his head around the fact MC was willing to stay here as he works on his motorcycle doing nothing.

"Do you… not want me here?"

"No no, stay if you'd like. I don't mind." Sylus turned away to hide the not so hidden blush that had started its way up his neck. Worried that he was coming off as cold wasn't his intention. Heck, if MC wanted to stay here forever he would be more than thrilled. 

MC quietly giggles in the back. Who would know a surprise visit was the thing to catch him off guard. 

They only recently made it official that they are in a relationship. Girlfriend and boyfriend. Something Sylus thought would only happen in his dreams. Though they had a rocky start (maybe a bit more than rocky) he was glad to just be near her.

"What are you working on?"

"I'm working on my motorcycle."

"Is there something broken?"

"Not necessarily, just a quick change of the sprocket and a few custom touches"

As the minutes bled into hours, Sylus would work while talking aimlessly with MC. Conversation would go from topic to topic with no real end in sight. They could be talking about the brake pads one minute and be in a heated debate on the best methods to cook eggs. 

Throughout their conversation Sylus would sneak quick glances when MC was occupied in her thoughts. Her hair cascading down the side of the bench as her eyes traveled aimlessly around the room. The occasion frown washing over her when she started thinking long and hard on Sylus' burning questions. Oh how he just wanted to kiss it away.

"I don't think it would be useful to have such elaborate names for all those colors. Who really cares whether cherry red is better than apple red. What if I just want dark red and cherry and apple are used up?" He couldn't hold his amusement as he let out a soft laugh. There wasn't anywhere else he would rather be.

notes: I just looooove imagining Sylus and MC first going into a relationship. To think of all the awkward times they have. I might be getting onto something…

Every Tuesday was auction night.

While most of the world would be under the covers, Sylus' mansion would erupt in a soft golden glow as the night lamp from his room would fill the large but empty space of his bedroom. He would slowly awake in the middle of the night, adjusting his dark night robe as he'd walk out of his room with a matchbox, silently taking out a matchstick before striking it hard against the rough cardboard until the warmth of the fire would tingle against his skin.

His fingers would work meticulously, lighting each candle-holder stuck on the walls. His hot breath blows against the flame, finally making its dancing go quiet.

He would then spend a majority of two hours getting himself ready. Combing back the wet strands of his hair, only leaving back a thick grey string of hair on his forehead. He would hum a low tune under his breath as he'd smooth out any wrinkles on his suit, probably trying to drown the silence suffocating his room.

And by 2 A.M. he was gone.

But once you came into his life, taking over his mansion, his bed and his heart, things became like a routine for Sylus rather than a chore to complete.

Now, auction nights were shared, and so were those little moments you'd spend getting ready in under orange glow of the evening.

As you'd apply your gloss, Sylus' fingers would dance around your waist, tightening the loose strings attached to the back of your silky, maroon laced gown which hugged your body like a cool thin blanket. Soft melodies would echo past the thick walls from the vinyl record player in the study.

You sung out low tunes under your breath, back against the bathroom sink as you calmly adjust his tie with dainty fingers that he'd occasionally take a nip at.

"Someone looks quite handsome for an auction." You'd mutter, smirking under your breath.

"What was that, kitten?" He leaned his body against yours, lowering his head till it was in front of your glowing red cheeks. His hands would trap your frame in his, placing themselves on the cool white marble of the sink. "Could you share it with the audience?" His lips curled upward, showing off his white pearls. You pout, "I said, someone is showing off his looks tonight." He'd laugh, placing a gentle yet pinching bite on your cheek. "I think it's you who seems to be the one showing off." His large hands cupped your hips.

"My..what a sight for sore eyes.." he'd tease, his gaze would be locked on your body, eyeing his way up your curves and dips to the dark red gloss on your lips and to the pink blossoming your cheeks.

Now, instead of the suffocating air he'd spent years trying to silence, it finally settled in your giggles and yelps as Sylus lifted you off the floor, spinning you around like you were his world.

Which you were.

indulging caleb after he gets off work… the fleet leaves no room for mercy, and as a colonel, he has duties to uphold and the grunts to straighten up, on top of hours upon hours of meeting on hand. in short, they’re tedious. there are better things he could be doing with his time, exempli gratia resting at home with you, doing your hair, cooking your favorite meals, and all the tidbits of homely chores that revolve around you and you only. alas, fate has other plans for him, so now he’s stuck in the damned farspace, away from the apple of his love, you.

when he gets home, and he sees you lounging in the big, big sofa, surrounded by plushies that have accumulated from all the time you both spent at the arcade back in linkon, looking all cozy under the blanket, he drops everything before he drops his entire weight on you. sprawled up on top of you, with his uniform still on, the size of his body engulfs you, and caleb has always run like a furnace, the kind that warms you up from the inside. the size of him and the weight were familiar, one that you cannot win over so easily without a fight (because have you seen him? body built upon years and years of persistence, muscles on display as if they’re sculpted by the gods) but strangely, despite knowing this fact, surrendering to him is easy. because caleb has always been gentle with you, because caleb has always put you and your comfort first, because caleb would not compromise on you. so, when you have the farspace colonel as as your personal weighted blanket, body a little too big for the sofa to accommodate the both of you, his legs jutting out, you welcome him by wrapping his arms around neck, resting on his back.

you’d let out half a chuckle and half a huff, surprised by the action but doesn’t fight it, instead you let him be, until you realize he’d fallen into your stomach face-first and had worried he couldn’t breathe that way, so with all your strength, you try to coax him to adjust his position, move his neck, get him to a better position, but he just whines, and you want to melt on the spot. “jus’ need you,” he murmurs, voice rough, and like a puppy, he nuzzles into your stomach instead, feeling brush of hair tickling through the fabric of your shirt.

his cap had fallen to the floor with an ungracious thud, but neither of you could care less. a few minutes later and after your tender fussing ‘baby, that position can’t be comfortable,’ he relents. he shifts, rising to his knees to tug off the heavy coat haphazardly, tossing it somewhere in the room, before he rests his full weight again on you, this time making himself comfortable on the crook of your neck. you swear you hear him purr, the muscles on his back relaxing under your touch, and you wiggle around a little bit to make room for his size. the both of you lay there in silence, your breaths synchronizing with every rise and fall of your chest. you rest your cheek on the side of his head, your fingers raking through his hair, and caleb lets out a sigh before burrowing his face deeper into your neck, lips leaving absentminded litters of pecks on your skin.
