Tenzō wakes up refreshed and ready to start his day until he hears the ever familiar "Yo, Tenzō," from his window sill.

"Sleeping," says Tenzō immediately, when he catches the look on Kakashi's face. He doesn't miss the flash of amusement in his intruder's expression before he quickly closes his eyes, settling back into bed.

"Lying," he hears in reply, much closer than before, as a hand reaches out to pinch his cheek. "Why are you so sure you won't like what I have to say?"

Tenzō cracks one eye open, squinting up at Kakashi, who looks far too charming and sunlit for his own good. "When it's good news, you use the front door."

I wish there was an event where Team Ro (Kakashi, Tenzo, Yugao, Itachi) were the stars and their interactions. I do ship kakayama but I would like a character study and team dynamics instead.

Though that fic is not really romantic and can be read as gen. It’s also very brief. If I was to ever tackle this in a longfic, it would probably involve Tenzo and Kakashi abandoning the village together. You’ve got me thinking about it now. Maybe someday!

More specifically, transitions are hard. Deciphering which parts of canon are worth expanding on and which should be breezed through or skipped completely is hard. Finding the hidden gems in the canon scenes takes WORK. But when it works out, it is a lot of fun. In the case of unlucky thirteen, I spent a lot of time on scenes I ended up tossing out and rewriting. Rewriting is not something I usually do, so that was frustrating. I give so many kudos to authors who rewrite often and continue writing. They are putting a lot of time into their craft ✨
