Delray Doc’s Fruit & Deli, Webster MA.
Webster is a small town located in south, central Massachusetts near Worcester. It is near my hometown and I am very familiar with it. Webster is known for Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg, which means “that which is a divided island lake.” If you do not know how to pronounce this name don’t worry, ask any local and they will be proud to say it for you! It is a huge lake with many different islands to explore. Take the boat out and stop for dinner and drinks at Waterfront Mary’s or Point Breeze. If you don’t have a boat take the Indian Princess paddle-wheeler from Indian Ranch. Indian Ranch is a campground located on Webster Lake, where you can camp, host events or catch a concert. I have been to a concert there and the venue is small, but nice. It is outside so it makes for a perfect summer concert venue. They do host a lot of country and folk music, but they do have other types of music come to preform there too. If you are in Webster and looking for something to do I would check out a concert there!
If you are in Webster for the Fourth of July they do have Fireworks over Webster Lake. You can either grab your chairs and enjoy them from the public beach. If you have a boat you can enjoy them from the lake!
Delray Doc’s is known for their fresh sandwiches, deli meats, salads, fruits, veggies, and pastries. The staff at this deli are very friendly and helpful. Many people say they have the best grinders in Webster, but I haven’t tried them yet! I have tried their lobster roll, which was recommended to me by everyone I know. The Lobster Roll came with Cole Slaw and Potato Salad, so they gave you a lot of food for $15.00. The lobster roll itself was not as impressive as I thought it would be since everyone told me about. The roll it came on was not toasted and it was soggy, it fell apart anytime I tried to pick it up. They roll did have a lot of lobster meat on it, but it did not taste fresh. There was a lot of mayo on the roll, which could have made the bread soggy. The lobster meat itself did not taste like lobster meat and it was very chewy. It was hard to eat and I could not pick it up and had to eat it with a fork. I ended up not eating the bread and just had the lobster meat. Even though I liked the staff I don’t think I would get the lobster roll from this place again, I would try their grinders or salad.
Based on presentation and taste of the Delray Doc’s Fruit & Deli Lobster Roll I would rate this roll a 4 out of 10.
