Now that Local Freak - Brick & Murder is out, I thought it would be fun to show Kat & Bailey's old designs compared to their new look. My art style's changed quite a bit in 5 years (jfc it's been that long??) so I was always gonna draw them differently, but I wanted to give them some subtle updates on top of that to better showcase their personalities. Kat stayed pretty close to her original look, aside from general art style changes, the big difference is her stitches and overall palette, I wanted it to look vibrant like the original but have a sense of gloominess to it. So I changed the stitches to look more like permanent eye bags and dropped the lime in favor of darker green. I also made the jacket puffier and changed the shirt a bit just cause I thought it looked more punk-y. Bailey definitely had the more drastic change. My goal with her was to make her feel more bubbly and upbeat so she stood out more next to Kat. I gave her a rounder figure, rounder hair, rounder glasses, just rounder everything. Since she's a bit more old fashioned (She's from the 40's after all) I wanted her outfit to reflect that while not looking too jarring. It was really fun getting to update these two after so long, and who knows, I might tweak these if I end up doing more with them, we'll see what happens :) If you're interested in supporting my work and wanna see more behind the scenes stuff, I'm gonna be posting the full model sheets tomorrow on my Patreon!
