Damien sat with his head poking out above the water. What was he looking at? This thing- it wasn’t human he could tell that much. Unless the human had some kind of costume on. 

Carefully he swam up the the ledge, keeping his head low so just his eyes poked out of the water. It was far to dark for him to see this beings features properly. But something about it’s shape.. it just wasn’t right. 

His tail moved softly in the water, the sounds of his movement blending in with those of the natural waves gently hitting against the shore. Still, the merman was ready to swim off if he had to at a moments notice.
