Vee had been pretty down the past week, ever since the Ashleys had publicly trashed her brother and her friends. She was mad, but knew she literally couldn’t do a thing about it.
It made her so mad she wanted to hit something even when she was far from secondary school hell. It was a nice afternoon and Lock had texted her, inviting her to hang out in the park. Hanging out with a friend completely unconnected with the drama sounded like a relief actually, so off she went, board over her shoulder (just in case!) as she made a beeline for the fountain in the park.
Spotting the familiar form of her friend lounging on a park bench, she grinned (wow! It was amazing what a friendly face could do for her mood) and waved cheerfully. “Hey Lock! Sorry I wasn’t able to catch you just after school, I made a quick escape today. How’s it going?”
