Lodgetember Day 3: Head Canons!

Our first prompt day!! We start with a broad one: Head canons!

Any lodger, any head canons. Got ideas of how characters would interact? What hobbies some might have? Quirks? General things that happen in the society? A design? Serious things? Silly things? Share em!

Take this day to rant and ramble about as many or as few of the lodgers as you want! Additionally, you could always draw them too! Have fun with it, spark up conversation with fellow fans!

DAY 3: HEAD CANONS

Guys I love Mr Tanis sm, so---

He mainly deals with seances, but is trying to work up to reanimation. For now, he can do some smaller animals and more freshly deceased pets.

Because of the seances, hes one of the more well known lodgers of the society among the higher and middle class, since seances were quite a popular form of entertainment, tho ofc Tanis takes it seriously.

Hes very empathetic and in tune with the atmosphere and emotions around him bc of his connection to the after life and spirits, and while he's usually a very kind and happy guy, he tends to get quite emotionally drained.

So!!! He hangs out with *COUGH*DATES*COUGH* Mr Doddle :3 since Doddle is basically the sweetest guy at the Society, he really helps Tanis recharge his energy, physically and emotionally.

Doddle also gives Tanis little treats and such a bunch, both for him to eat himself and to use as offerings for the spirits.

The only time Doodle really ever gets annoyed is when people are in his space when he's baking/cooking, though he can usually tolerate it more with Tanis.

Tanis works quite closely with Maijabi bc of their somewhat similar lines of work, and they have a sort of father-son type of relationship, where Maijabi sometimes mentors Tanis.

Tanis x Doddle is real

Tanis's eyes tend to glow teal the slightest bit when he's doing his work.

Tanis helps tend to Zosi and keep him as put together and clean as possible.

Spirits seem to be drawn to Maijabi and Tanis, (as well as Doddle but he doesn't notice) because of their friendlier personas and safe energy

Tanis works a little bit with Ito as well, specifically for some potions when he's trying to reanimate

I think that's all I have rn :3 I'm,,, so normal guys. And I'll have more for ship and Tanis day, dw 😋 spreading my Doddle x Tanis (which I have deemed "Swiss Roll") propaganda 🙏🙏🙏

sinnett hcs for day 3 of lodgetember bc he's my favourite :3

his first name is aneurin and he is extremely, EXTREMELY patriotic about wales. we're talking 'knows all the words to men of harlech' levels. he's fluent in the language and most of his notes are written in welsh.

middle brother of two sisters and has a very big family, they're quite poor but really love him and were the ones who encouraged him to join the society in the first place!

his prosthetic was made by pennebrygg, but actually before they met at the society. they both used the same working space for a while and the original prosthetic was one of pennebrygg's first projects. since then it's been refined as needed.

on a similar note, I hc him not to be an amputee but to have been born as limb different. most people assume he's an amputee because of his line of work and he relishes the way people's faces go pale when he corrects them.

(this isn't to say he hasn't had accidents. there's a reason his and luckett's lab is pretty sparse and the things inside are inexpensive and easy to replace).

he's one of the first few lodgers for jasper to feel comfortable around bc he gave him some fireproof covers to use for christopher.

his birthday is in spring but his favourite season is winter because it's easiest to work when the heat makes a cold day warm rather than a sweltering day even hotter.

Day 3; Head cannons!!

There will probably not be alot on here as with the darwing for each charater i do i will put hc with them.

Ive got group hcs tho!

i think that the lodgers have a book club run by Ms lavender(they seem like a book worm) and most of them attend weekly. at one point they found a diary and all read that.

some of them need glasses to see but have broken in experiments or just dont wear (this came from me taking photos in cosplay D:)

all are gossips, dont tell anyone your secret or they all will know.

thye will chant "go to bed" or "drink water" collectively and not follow what they say.

there are never any cups in the kitchen, all fingers point to mr sinnett but no evidence yet.

some of them are dating each other and they have sleepovers. (and poly vibes ofc)

if technology existed they would do movie marathons and mario kart tournaments

they have the biggest dining table in the world and they all eat at the same time

i should go to bed i have to up in 7 hours

Lodgetember Day 3: Headcanons!!!

Here are some flowers headcanons because she's my favourite

She's one one of the newer lodgers and joined maybe one month or so before Jasper did

She's not a talkative person, but she is one of the more gossip-y lodgers, she's used her spy bugs to see what's going on at the society sometimes and to get a bunch of gossip

Jekyll caught her doing that and told her not to, still does it sometimes

She keeps live bugs in her lab to study, they're kinda like her pets and she has names for all of them

She likes to draw, has a preference for drawing her bugs or real people that she knows or remembers meeting, she's drawn some of the lodgers and is on a quest to draw them all (if she gets the courage to ask)

She keeps a diary that's not really up to date, but she has written down random information like reminders, the name of the other lodgers and what they do, as well as which lodgers are scared of bugs and those that aren't

Very good listener, will remember weirdly specific details but will walk into a room and forget why she was there

Used to have a big fear of bugs until she became obsessed with them one day, still kinda has a fear of some of them

Likes to fiddle with her spy bugs sometimes and say stuff to them

First met Jekyll after some of her spy bugs went haywire and started flying around everywhere, copying a bunch of noise and terrorizing some of the people around the area where she lived, that Jekyll happened to be passing by. He was able to use the bugs to track her down, and he offered to help with the ones that were malfunctioning. The bugs caused a small-ish scandal but no one knows it was her except for the rest of the lodgers, Rachel and Jekyll (But the police never found her and probably never will)

Keeps both real and robot bugs locked away very securely inside her lab

Had a habit of picking at her nails, main reason for wearing gloves

Has insomnia and sleep apnea, so she has a lot of trouble sleeping. Most nights she won't even bother trying to sleep and will just fiddle with some of her mechanic bugs instead, but she'll usually end up falling asleep in the middle of working

Very good friends with Bird, I like to think they've went to the countryside or somewhere like that to go catch bugs to look at and also to look for rare plants

Also good friends with Lavender, no reason why, I just think they would be good friends

Consulted Maijabi and Tanis about if bugs has souls and if a bug died if they could bring it back, Maijabi did not answer the question. But she and Tanis keep randomly having very serious discussions about it and also about if it would be possible to put the soul of a bug into one of her spy bugs. This ended up with them becoming friends

Hangs out a lot with Pennebrygg to talk about automatons

Has considered making automaton bugs to murder someone, hasn't gotten around to actually doing it

She's aromantic

Day 3: Headcanons - Mango Debates in the Society for Arcane Sciences??? NO WAY!!!!!!!

this is a bit of a silly one, plus i kinda rushed it cause i wanted to get it out before i went to sleep tonight. but i decided to at least color the parts of it that mattered for the art lol

basically, i have the hc that archer is half-filipino and his family migrated to england when he was younger; that plus the fact that he's a Plant Nerd(tm) makes me think that he's absolutely a fan of Philippine mangoes (which Wikipedia refers to as the "Carabao" variety, inch resting 🤔)

now helsby is Indian coded? there's no direct confirmation but his first name Ranjit and his connection to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne implies this to me; now he seems like the type to like the Indian mango varieties, and also defend them to archer who thinks the Philippine mangoes are the Greatest Mango Variety To Exist, Ever.

personally, I agree with Archer; Indian mangoes are available in both my local supermarkets and wet markets, but I've always disliked them! especially since my mom and brother tend to prefer them unripe with my mother eating them with bagoong paste and my brother eating them with salt, and they're trying to get me to eat them even though I dislike the taste.

that's just me though! archer and helsby have their reasons for their differing opinions on mangoes, and the lodgers like to listen to them debate. i don't think griffin has had a mango ever so he thinks the whole debate is stupid.
