One day logging off to protest Tumblr's bullshit is nothing, so I'm going to log off for longer when it happens. 3 days to a week. I suggest others join me in that, the site losing attention for one day won't do shit.

Best to make it last longer, it'll make a more noticeable difference to how the site is doing.

Logging out!

I will be participating in the Tumblr logout protest. I will be back after the 17th. If anyone needs me desperately, my A03 is lastorywriteralex.

I want to make clear I am not logging out and participating in this protest simply because it means I won’t be able to reblog Jonerys boatsex gifsets and the like. I mean, yeah that’s one downside to this “better more positive Tumblr”.

But the real reason I’m logging out is because @staff have decided that “Adult Content” and child pornography are essentially the same thing in their eyes. This whole mess started with child pornography and the Tumblr app being banned from the Apple App Store because the website had yet to do anything about it.

So great. Get rid of the child pornography and block those users who posted and circulated it. Report their information to authorities. Keep these creeps off the site.

However, adult content is not the same as child pornography.

And if we begin banning content simply because it’s sexual in nature, we are opening an incredibly dangerous door.

If we begin demonizing sexuality and lumping it in with criminal activity, what message does that send to people? What message does that send to young people? Women’s bodies are vulgar save when they’re being used to feed infants. Love making is vulgar and should not be shown in any visual shape or form - even when it’s not real.

This is ridiculous. And I don’t support it. And if Tumblr is serious about this ban and continue it into the new year, I will be deleting my blog after the last season of Game of Thrones is over. I’ll keep my blog until then because this is how I get the majority of my GOT information. But after that, I’ll have no need for it. And most of the people I love on here I can keep up with via A03 anyway.

Let’s hope this logout event does send Tumblr a message. If it doesn’t, those are my plans.
