I have to say that the idea of “logging off” to protest strikes me as being ineffective.

To me, it is like a tenant - that is being evicted - moving out early to protest the eviction

I support it in theory - I hope it helps

But I am not a participant

and  I do not understand how it would do anything but make it easier to shut the place down

One day logging off to protest Tumblr's bullshit is nothing, so I'm going to log off for longer when it happens. 3 days to a week. I suggest others join me in that, the site losing attention for one day won't do shit.

Best to make it last longer, it'll make a more noticeable difference to how the site is doing.

As part of the growing @logoffprotest I’ll be heading out for a few days. Since you’ve consistently made changes that created site-wide negative backlash and refused to address them in any useful way, we’re hoping a sharp drop in site activity will clue you in.

As a teacher, clear communication is important to me. I have to make my content accessible to students, and I expect them to write down their work and show me how they think through a problem.

Staff, you have failed in this area. By refusing to communicate with users, flagging and shadowbanning those who protest your decisions, and changing the site while claiming to fix the problem – indeed, making them worse, with more bot accounts and more reports of eye strain from the color change – you’ve shown a lack of care for your users.

Now, not as a teacher but as a user of this site: staff, go fuck yourselves. Goodbye.
