“Do you always come here without an invitation, trickster?”
You spoke without looking up, keeping your eyes on the page of the book in your hand. You didn’t hear him coming in, but you felt the air shifted—as always. It was the smallest hint that you could get every time Loki invaded your space, entering the archive as he pleased.
“Sharp witted as always, my lady,” Loki remarked, amusement laced in his tone as he moved to stand beside you.
It had been a few days after the royal banquet. The topic of Hell’s next ruler was already settled when Lord Morpheus made the decision to give the key back to the creator. A wise choice. Everyone knew and respected it as well. Except for the demon Azazel who dared to protest Dream’s choice and met the consequences afterwards.
He studied the book in your hand for a moment, not seriously anyway. You were working in the deep corner of the library, reorganising the fragmented dreams and scrolls alone. Lucienne was nowhere to be found, attending your lord’s counsel presumably.
It was quiet and peaceful. You’ve always enjoyed working in silence like this, having the space and flexibility that you needed. Before the chaos god decided to interrupt your peace. Yet again.
“I see you enjoy doing things as you please,” you mused, stacking the books over, completely unbothered by his presence. Or so you tried to appear. “Did his lordship invite you to stay longer in our hospitality? I thought your business here is done, Lie-Smith.”
“Oh, I enjoy doing a lot of things, my lady,” Loki let out a low chuckle, voice dropping smoothly. “But to answer your question. Inviting me wouldn’t be the right word now, would it? Considering that the Dream lord demands my presence reside here in the Dreaming until his business is done.”
“His business in cleaning up after your mess, I presume?” you scoff, not bothering to spare him a glance.
“Did words go around that quickly? I’m quite messy, aren’t I?” Loki grinned, wide and proud. And that only frustrated you further.
“No, you’re chaotic,” you flashed him a look—annoyance evident in your expression as you lifted a stack of books into your hands.
Your shoulder brushed past him rather harshly as you moved towards the shelf, but you didn’t care. Loki only let out a surprise noise in return, though he didn’t seem less amused than before. If anything he only seemed to enjoy it.
“So serious,” Loki hummed, watching you work from behind. “And here I thought I could come here and make myself useful to you.”
You rolled your eyes, back facing him as you slipped a few books into its place in precise order. “I’m sure you could be useful somewhere in the Dreaming.”
“Could I?” He sounded intrigued, voice like silk. “Where then?”
“Anywhere,” you finished sliding the final volume into the slot. “Far from me.”
Behind you, the god shifted. His footsteps came in closer, invasive. You could practically hear the smirk in his voice without looking back.
“Aw. You wounded me, darling,” Loki placed a hand on his chest theatrically. “Could you at least let me help? I can be handy at times, you know. There’s a few tricks up my sleeve that could be serviceable around here.” He waved a book that he’d picked up some time when you weren’t looking in an attempt to convince you, but you didn’t buy it.
You also didn’t want to ask what tricks he was referring to. Because you already knew it only meant trouble. That was his mission for the past few days; to come and annoy the life out of you while your lord was too busy to keep an eye on him. Additionally, you couldn’t help but silently cursed Morpheus for partially putting you into this position.
“How generous of you,” you mumbled before moving back to the table to gather another stack into your arms, snatching the book from his hand. “But do keep your generosity to yourself. This is a one-person job, and I doubt you would actually get the job done without causing more trouble. But feel free to annoy others in the meantime.”
“The others are boring. They’re not as…orderly as you, secret keeper," Loki regarded you with his mischievous eyes, hands shoved deep in his pockets as he took a few steps closer to stand near you again. His voice dropped to a low whisper. “And I find you, of all people here, quite enjoyable the most.”
“Should I be flattered?” You lifted your eyebrows sarcastically.
“You sure should, my lady,” Loki hummed.
You rolled your eyes, yet again. “Flattery will get you nowhere, trickster. Also, touch anything and I’ll bind you like the rest of these scrolls.”
His lazy smirk widened. “Mhmm. Promise?”
Yeah, of course he would say that. It became a game to him now.
A groan left your lips. But when you ignored him and spun your back to him, Loki had already reappeared in front of you again. You cursed under your breath in startling, almost dropping the books you carried.
“Gods, what is wrong with you?” you glared at him, tightening your grip on the books. “Do you enjoy getting yelled at or something? If that’s not clear enough, I’m actually going to bind and lock you in the closet full of nightmares myself.”
“How do you know I’m not into that? Don’t threaten me with a good time, darling.” Loki stalked forward, making you stumble back in an attempt to back away.
You silently cursed the world as you felt your back hit the shelf. Loki’s smirk never faltered. The mischievousness in his eyes only increased by seconds.
Your pulse thrummed in your throat. Breath quickened. You didn’t want to admit, not to yourself anyway, that you may or may not find the mischief god to be somewhat…appealing. In his features and charms. But you would never let him know that. Heaven knows he would be even more annoying than he already was if he ever found out.
Even since the parade of all Gods and worldwide beings came banging at the castle’s gate, demanding the key to hell. You didn’t expect to find an attraction towards any of them—hell, that was not even in the picture in the first place. They were mostly angry and terrifying looking. But not him. In his leather suit jacket and spiky blonde hair, his glamor demanded attention in every room he walked into.
Trouble in a lean, smirking body. You had thought to yourself when your eyes first landed on him.
But all that fascination vanished the minute you found out that he had substituted lord Susano-o in his place by deception for his own escape. That was the moment you realised how dangerous and untrustworthy the god was no matter the circumstances.
And yet, you still find Loki irresistible. Despite knowing how manipulative he could be. You swore you would never be tricked by him. As long as he still had an unpaid debt with your lord.
“Leave,” you forewarned, voice weaker than you'd like.
“Why?” Loki cocked his head to the side, casting a look over your face. “Afraid you’ll fall for the temptation?”
Your cheeks were hot—from his voice, from the way he was looking at you, invading your space further every second passed. You hoped the lanterns would go out, so that he couldn’t see the way your cheeks reddened at the proximity.
But to your dismay, Loki could obviously tell.
“Ah, you’ve already fallen, have you?” He concluded, voice silvery.
You grinded your teeth, swallowing. “Shut up.”
“No need to be shy, darling. I can practically hear your heart racing in there. It’s cute. Trying to look like you haven’t dreamed about this since the moment you saw me in the great hall.”
“I’m not.”
“Deception is my specialty, sweetheart,” Loki twirled a strand of your hair around his index finger, toying with you. “Don’t try to outdo me.”
Your face was hot—with frustration and need. The need to shut him up with either your magic or your mouth.
“Gods, I hate you.”
He knew you didn’t. You knew too.
Loki hummed, amusing. His face was too close to you now. “I’m sure you do.”
Before you can retort, his hand slid past you—purposefully brushing your waist—and plucked out a document from the shelf behind you.
Your breath hitched as you froze in place, trying not to tremble by the slight brush of his hand. Loki held the document up on display.
“Now,” he tossed the fold casually into the air then caught it one-handed with a smirk just to taunt you. “Shall we test your binding skill?”
You should have shoved him away, should have yanked the file back and reported him directly to your master to get him out of your library—or better, your realm.
But you didn’t.
Instead you snapped first, restraint breaking.
The books in your arms dropped to the floor with a loud thud as you surged forward, yanking him by the collar of his jacket and crashing your lips onto his.
Loki froze at first—half a second. And then like expected, he melted into you naturally like he obviously would.
It was violent, furious. Teeth and tongue clashed against each other. You didn’t kiss him like how you imagined the first time you saw him. You didn’t want to just kiss him. You wanted to ravage him, making his knees buckle and fall to the floor as a punishment. For being the bane of your existence and an absolute irresistible god that he was.
“There she is…” he grinned against your lips, voice soft and attentive.
His hand came to grab at the back of your neck, pulling you in closer as his body pressed yours against the shelf. The scrolls rattled behind you, shaking. You could feel the pain of book spines nagging to your back, but you didn’t care. It was nothing compared to the sensation you were savouring right now.
The kiss was hungry now—devouring. Your hands tucking his blonde hair harshly, earning a low grunt from his throat before he did the same to you. You’d pull his bottom lip between your teeth, biting down that you could taste copper. He winced slightly at the pain, but not nowhere near displeased.
“Naughty minx,” Loki chuckled deeply. “Dream’s little librarian finds pleasure in making a god bleed now, does she?”
“Shut. Up.”
“So demanding,” he continued, moving his lips down to your jaw. “I could get used to that.”
You debated casting something to gag his mouth so he wouldn’t be able to speak any more—but just when you were about to make the decision, his mouth decided to work wonders below your throat, stealing a gasp from your own.
You kissed him more—harder, rougher. And Loki only obliged to your desire. Sliding his tongue through your lips, you fought for dominance against him. His blood tasted like addiction, and you only demanded more.
Everything happened so quickly within a blink of an eye. You yanked the jacket off Loki’s shoulder with a little bit of his help, before he untied the lace of your vest and let it fall to the ground. His trousers and yours came off after with haste, pulling half way down below your knees.
His fingers found their way through your soaking slit not long after, circling the bundle on top with his thumb in the way that made you whine like you’d never been touched before.
It was almost annoying, how good he was at fucking you with his fingers. The way his long digits curled inside of you, hitting all the right places like he’d been here before. Edging you closer and closer to your peak only to withdraw and leave you crying for more. Still, you hated him for it.
You bit your lips hard in an attempt to not give Loki the satisfaction of seeing you lose control. But it was such a failure when his taunting only made your walls spasm tighter. Each one only riled you up more than the last.
“Still want me banished?” satisfied-smugness laced through his velvety voice, lips brushing your ear.
You bit back a moan, almost drawing blood off your tongue. “You talk too much.”
Loki chuckled softly, taunting you with his hazy smile. “How about that bind you promised?”
Your chin held up. “How about you shutting the hell up and start fucking me like a god?”
He didn’t answer right away. But when your gaze met his, you could virtually see mischievousness glow in the god’s eyes. He took that as a challenge, voluntarily.
The next thing you knew, Loki had already hoisted you up by the hips, your legs wrapped around his torso like they’d found home. It wasn’t even clear if this was his intention in the first place when he first came by—to fuck you shamelessly against the shelf in the lord of Dream’s library. But it was already happening. As your nails clawed into his back, his hips snapping into yours deep and hard. Your moans echoed across the walls loudly as if no one would ever hear, back slamming unceasingly against the shelf.
“Satisfy yet?” he asked breathlessly, watching you through his lustful eyes.
”Yes.” Your lips curled into a satisfied smile. “Much better.”
You couldn’t believe that you were letting him fucking you after promising yourself that you would never fall for his tricks, and just how much you were enjoying it. Damn him and his charms and deception.
As Loki continued to rock into you frantically, your nails also kept digging deep into his shoulder blades, drawing small bloody lines. And then suddenly, your wrists were snatched into the air—a dream-like thread wrapping around them. You fought the magic away with struggles for a moment, until the bastard’s low chuckle cut through your attempt.
“That won’t work, sweetheart. I’ll have you know, I am made of flesh and bones too. Let’s see how you like being the binded one.”
You gave it a few tries, trying to free yourself from the hold, but nothing worked. So you just succumbed to him, feeling his nails dug deep into your hips with each pound. The proximity between the shelf and his body were caging you in place, his one hand held your hips while the other was roughly kneading your breast, pinching your hardened nipple between his fingers every once in a while.
”Fuck, you’re so tight,” Loki grunted into your ear, and the praise only caused you to clench tighter. “Squeezing me so nicely. So. Fucking. Good.”
As Loki accentuated each word with his thrust, a chorus of ah, ah, ah’s escaped your lips like spells. You were speechless by this point, unable to form any clever comebacks in return. Yet you never regretted provoking him at all, only regretted that you couldn’t be able to hold onto him right now. You needed to feel him, to touch him and make sure that this act wasn’t just another dream.
“What would Morpheus say about this, hm? His little librarian, indulging herself with the for-now-guest in this sacred archive.” Loki purred, his hot breath fanning your face. And your cheeks blushed even redder, from heated desire and excitement.
“Don’t you dare,” you warned with gritted teeth, glaring at him through your lashes.
Loki let out a small laugh, licking his lips as he looked down at you. “I’d suggest you keep your voice down if you don’t want him to find out. But I also like the idea of the entire castle hearing you scream my name across the hall as well.”
Gods, you wished his mouth was between your thighs instead. So you wouldn’t have to listen to how much he was enjoying this—tormenting you with his cock deep inside of your cunt. Smug fucking bastard.
The tip of his nose brushed against yours, the trickster searched for your eyes. “Tempting, yes?”
But you gave no answer in return. Not because you didn’t want to, but mostly because his pace had sped up, hitting at the perfect spot inside of you and stealing your breath away from your throat.
“Fuck—”
It was all you could manage as you writhed underneath him. The feeling in your tummy built up, you could already feel your release approaching.
Loki stared down at you, his lips between his teeth he continued to pump his dick into you more and more. His breath quickened, voice sleek like a spell.
“Look at you—coming undone for a god. For me.”
He was so deep, too deep that it made your head spin. His rhythm was deliberate, but still not enough.
You could feel the way his cock twitched inside of you when you moaned, asking for release at his mercy. Loki continued ramming against you, though his speed was too stable—not fast enough, not hard enough—making you whining for more.
“Fuck, you’re so close. I can feel it. You want to come badly, don’t you?” You felt his lips dragging along your jaw, pulling your earlobe between his teeth for a teasing nibble, causing you to wince.
Pathetically, you only nodded as the answer, proving exactly his point that you were too fucked out to answer.
“Ah, ah, ah. You forgot something, sweetheart,” the mischief god crooned. His gaze focused on your face intensely, expression smug. “You are in the presence of a god. If one wants something, one must beg.”
No way he was being serious right now—when you were at the verge of coming apart.
“Oh, fuck you, Loki,” you groaned, and immediately regretted it when he went still. Your hips jerked against his desperately, seeking for any sort of friction you could get since he’d stopped.
“People with bad manners don’t get it their way, secret keeper,” Loki said, darkened eyes examining you. “I’m giving you one more chance. And you’re going to make it right.”
You cursed under your breath, eyes glaring back at him like he wasn’t supposed to scare you. But he did. Because despite your own pride, you were also too desperate not to comply. In other scenarios, you would never beg for him. But right now in this chamber, with your legs at his hips, his cock deep into your centre, you’d already lost all of your strength.
You sighed eventually, making up your mind internally.
And just like instinct, Loki could already feel you ready to comply. He gave you an encouraging thrust, earning a strangled whimper from you.
“Use your words, sweetheart. Be brave,” he reminded, his grip on your hips tightened.
You opened your mouth, breathlessly. “Please…”
He tsked in disapproval. “That’s all? You can do better.”
Fuck, how come he’d only make it harder for you.
Defeated, you obliged anyway. For fuck’s sake. “Please, Loki. Just—let me come. I’m so close, please. I want it so bad, please. I need to.”
An approval sound hummed from his throat, Loki started to move again—thankfully.
No more teasing, his movement. It was relentless. Your back banging the shelf continuously, the scrolls and books threatening to fall down. Normally it might have been from how hard it was being pounded against. But you suspected it was Loki who initially casted something to prevent them from falling.
“Is there anything else you would like, hm?” As Loki spoke, you felt a tug of reminder at your tied wrists, suggesting what he was hinting to.
With eager desperation, you nodded and pleaded with him to release you. Eventually the rope vanished, your wrists fell down. They latched to Loki’s back to pull him closer immediately, your mouth clashing against his yet again as you did.
He kissed you with heat, devouring your mouth like his entire existence depended upon it. His movements sped up, picking up the perfect pace and angling to the right spot that made your knees buckle against him.
Your moans were wild—cries of his name, cursing and begging echoing through the walls without shame. And Loki relished in it. He thrived with pleasure just to hear you come for him.
The feeling of your inside tightened around his cock was enough hint that you were almost there. And because of how generous he was, the god would gladly help you reach your destination without any hassle. Who was he to deny your release? After you begged so sweetly for him.
“Oh, god—” you choked as you felt your climax approaching, pushing you closer and closer over the edge. Your nails deep in his back, leaving red marks on his godly skin.
“Yes, darling. That’s me,” Loki growled, his voice gruff in your ears. His pride swelled through his veins like possession. “Come on, sweetheart. Succumb to me. Come for me. I’ve got you.”
When you felt his tongue dragging along your throat, lips sucking bruises on your neck, you finally lost it. Your legs trembled heavily around him, ankles locked themselves and pulled him into you deeper as you came with a strangled cry. His face buried in the crook of your neck, Loki followed right after, groaning your name while his cock twitched and spilled inside of you.
Your chest rose and fell as you came down from your high, panting for air breathlessly. Skin sheared with his sweat mixing with your own. Loki’s hand still rested on your thigh, grip loosened and the faint mark appeared. His forehead pressed against yours, catching his breath in the same hazy state as you were.
After a few minutes of nothing but heavy breathing, Loki finally let you down. Blue orbs looked golden in certain lights. Now you weren’t so sure if they were in fact actually glowing or you were that blissed out to comprehend. His movements were careful, as though he feared you would break—which was meaningless considering how he’d just wrecked your body and soul mere minutes ago.
An aching groan left your lips as your foot hit the floor, you almost stumbled back against the shelf again before finding balance. Your back started to feel sore, the tension in your thighs creasing.
“Should I—” you breathed, chest still heaving. “Be worried about that?”
Loki narrowed his eyes at you for a moment, and you gave him a subtle motion with your look of what you were referring to.
“Oh, that?” his eyes flickered to your core briefly. “No need to. Unlike mortals, our actions don't always result in consequences. We breed when we want to.”
The way he said the word breed with his gruff voice made your cheeks blush a vibrant shade of red, your breath catching.
Something in his eyes darkened again, Loki closed the distance between you further. He cupped your chin in his hand, tilting your head up to meet his eyes.
“Unless you want me to… all you have to do is ask, sweetheart.”
But before you could retort, his chuckles were already rumbling from his chest.
You scoffed, annoyed and flustered, shaking your head. The walls of coldness secured up again. “Well… Thanks for not only ruining my work but also my ability to walk. That doesn’t happen often.”
Loki grinned at you. “My pleasure. Literally.”
When you blinked and opened your eyes again—he had already redressed in front of you. Neat and clean in the same discarded clothes as if it never happened, disheveled hair settling back into its original, perfect style with just a snap of his fingers.
Gods. You rolled your eyes.
“Remind me to misbehave more often. If that was the consequences of my misconduct,” said Loki with a wink, his lips tugging into a lopsided smirk.
He straightened back, smoothing his jacket with his palms.
“Until next time, secret keeper.”
Into the thin air, he vanished then.
“mine, in every version of the story.” i.e. DATING LOKI HEADCANONS
summary: those moments and thoughts and feelings that you experience when you are partner to the god of mischief and cruel romance himself.
pairing: loki (the sandman) x gn!reader
warnings: mentions of smut, bloodplay, Loki being an ass.
word count: 2.4k
a/n: this took way to long because I'm a massive over thinker and procrastinator if you couldn't tell, but more is coming I've just been so busy and am trying to get back on that grind my darlings, but here he is. :)
First and foremost, you aren’t dating him- not necessarily, he doesn’t date, not in the way others would understand it. He coils. He takes.. but he’ll call it love. And the worst part? For him it actually is. Whether you are betrothed or already bound together, mortal or endless alike, no vow knows the bounds of your partnership, for one thing he, you and every being knows?
You are his undoing, so much as he is your ruin.
The chaos is shared and curated. You'll wake within a new realm, in depths of snow or surrounded on a bed of cowslips, alone and curious as Loki watches from a distance, and he'll never admit to you as to why- though whispers on the wind say it reminds him of when you once met, unknowing and unexpected. He crafts illusions the way poets write stanzas, soft, strange things. A kiss that tastes of something long forgotten from your childhood, and a version of himself that lets you go, just so you'll crawl back.
Loki doesn’t want to hurt you. He wants you haunted by him. Touched in places no one else can name. Softened. Unmoored and made beautifully unhinged. He’ll let you think he’s being kind— a warm bath, a moonlit picnic, a whispered “I’m here” after days of silence—but look again.
You’re not in your bed. You’re not in your world. You’re not alone.
The pet names are layered and sometimes somewhat ridiculous, ever changing at that; “My desecration”, “Love”, “Darling heretic”.. "Serpent hearted dove" was one once, and he's never let it go, chuckling at every chance he gets. The list may go on, but you don’t just get a ‘baby’, you only get riddles in the shapes of names.
He hates boredom. So if you seem too... settled? He’ll stir something up. Seduce someone in front of you, though it means nothing. Whisper in your ear that he could leave, just to see how you’ll react.
But gods help the one who hurts you. He’ll dismember them with a grin, his hands stained and his voice sugar-slick:
“You belong to me. Not them, as I do you.”
He is stunningly vain- but wants your worship to be secret. Whispered and sacred. He knows what he looks like in the moonlight, the way the voice reaches every core of your being as he drops it an octave. But what wounds him—deeply, quietly, behind the illusions—is when you don’t look. When your gaze lands elsewhere.
When your fingers trail over someone else’s wrist for too long.
He doesn't show it. Not directly, but he goes cold. Still. A little distant.
Until finally—
One night, he finds you in the bath, the water rippling deep in the candlelight, your face drowsy and content at the warmth and sweet scent of lavender. You feel his presence before you see him, kneeling beside the tub, shirt unbuttoned exposing his chest and sleeves rolled, and that familiar glinting in his eye. You tilt your head taking him in, “What is it?”
He leans in close, fingertips pressing the white tile, eyes glistening but voice controlled. “You used to look at me like I’d hung the stars, now you barely look at me when I walk in the room. Have I become.. ordinary?” The question punches at your chest, and you blink. Once, twice. You rise slightly, water dripping from your arms as you cup his face.
“No,” you whisper. “You’re the curse in every myth. The echo in every temple. You are never ordinary.” His throat bobs and his lashes lower. You press your lips to his cheek, then down to his jaw. “I don’t always say it,” you murmur. “But I watch you like I’m starving. Even when you’re not looking.”
He lets out a breath, like that was what he’d been waiting for.
Then his voice—quiet, raw:
“Say it again.”
So you do. Again. And again. And again. And that night, he worships you like the one thing in the universe he cannot outshine.
Loki lies to you, flippantly, as he does. “To keep things interesting.” Hm. To test your patience, perhaps make you jealous- and oh how it works, he likes that venom you carry, drinks it in even, so much so he can’t get enough of it. But just as frequently as he lies, when he tells the truth? It’s tender, almost painful. “I love you, that’s the problem.”
DARKER TIDES — POWER, POSSESSION, & A GOD’S WRATH
He loves your mind, and makes it known obsessively. That sharpness you have that rivals his wit, the defiance at his advances, the teasing of that chase that he is constantly keeping up with, and that defiant belief of yours that he can be better. Loki studies it, watches you attentively like you’re the only one in the world. He hates it some of the time, how you could frustrate him and entice him so simply, he needs it.
Loki doesn’t get vocally jealous, he gets violent. Quietly. Strategically. That admirer that flirted with you down the hall? Disappeared. The person who lingered their hand on yours a little too long when opening a door? Packed their bags and moved halfway toward the equator. Now he isn’t always that dramatic, but it’s rare he isn’t, but one thing is for sure, you’re guaranteed not to be seeing them again.
Some may question his advances, the looks from the other Gods and the Endless often frown upon him however most of it, stems from fear. His worst fear may be boredom, but that deeper fear? Losing you. Be it someone else takes you away or for nothing at all, peace or a mortal life. “Don’t you dare become ordinary.” He hisses once when you mentioned something of still, a new house maybe it was. It wasn’t that Loki meant it horribly, well maybe a little insulted, but he wants nothing but the best. You both make peace in the chaos, not settle for it.
Okay, now onto the bedroom… or wherever you two end up.
He has a worship kink. But this isn’t your average “good boy” energy no. He wants you to curse his name as you fall apart around him, to praise him like it’s blasphemy.
“Say it,” He snarls fucking up into you, “Tell me what I’am to you.” You’re straddled around him, legs hugging tightly around his back as your nails dig in at his shoulders, your head lazily falling against his collarbone. And oh you do, again. And again, until your legs are shaking and your brain is but air.
Much akin to worship, as much as he revels his name on your lips its nothing if he didn’t return the favour. The things he can do, spend hours beneath you, kissing, biting, licking. A man starved has nothing on the way he licks into you, or pushes so deep the flip in your stomach aches, your sounds and moans are the only things he wants to hear for eternity. Often trapping the delicacy in some capsule, to keep.
Biting everywhere. On your thighs— on your neck. At your ankles and your shoulder, anywhere he can to put his own claim. His teeth are always too sharp, and you’re certain he does it on purpose because there are always marks and oh good, he wants you to feel it days later.
Illusions in bed. He’ll change his shape mid-thrust—tongue shifting, his eyes are glowing and his voice now echoes around you, ringing in your ears. You never quite know who you’re touching, but you always know it’s him, no matter the form. Sometimes he shows you versions of yourself: you begging, breaking, laughing manically. He whispers to you in a taunt, “That’s who I’ll make you.” He lives to watch you break, to come apart just for him, and he preaches more than a promise.
Now Loki knows no bounds, except your own. Despite the urge and push to your edge every time, one thing he respects if not himself— its you. You are his love, his own ruin, hurting you, if it isn’t punishing you, is out of the question. After all there is a reason so many people seem to go missing if they come even close to doing the same. You are his exception, through the teasing and the stress he seems to bring to any situation, simply because he can, that is one thing he won’t stand for. So if something is a no, he may question with that shit-eating grin on his face, but he only cups your chin and kisses you afterward, with a simple “I know darling.”
He’s an exhibitionist, living to show you off, as well as himself of course. He’ll press you against stained-glass windows in temples that don’t know your name. He’ll ruin you in dreams where gods are watching, perhaps the Lord of the Dreaming himself and he knows it . He wants to be caught. “Let them see,” he roars against the shell of your ear. “Let them weep for what I get to have.”
When he’s jealous, the sex gets mean. Not cruel— but sharp. Intentional. He’ll pin your wrists, fucking you deep and slow, taunting:
“Did they touch you like this? No, they couldn’t. You’d still be screaming their name if they had ever dared.”
Blood, now this is obvious no matter who it is, maybe his teeth draw blood when he bites, or he alludes a claw long enough to stretch open your skin, sometimes it’s a silver dagger, sharp and sleek that glints in the light. He’ll drag it down your thighs and across your stomach, gently before breaking the skin just enough. The hot sting pours through your body as you tremble, and his mouth is already on you, tongue teasing the thin red line like a fever, suckling at the acrid substance like its liquid gold. And he never forgets to press a kiss as it heals, leaving the small scars across your body, and if you do the same? He wears each and every one like the honour it is.
Now the aftercare is soft and delirious, and possessive. You say you’re tired? He sighs and grumbles but snaps his fingers just as fast, and now the silver moon hangs half in the sky and it stills, the sky now a deep magenta.”There, now come. Rest on me.” He’ll lie beside you in silk sheets that weren’t there ten seconds ago, one hand tangled in your hair, and murmur things like:
“You’re the only one who’s ever seen me like this.”, “You’re mine now. I won’t let the world have you.” “Sleep. I’ll keep the nightmares.” And he does.
Some softer things I believe between you two, that only you’d ever know, because even the God of Mischief and deception has feelings.
Loki carves your name in the bark of a tree he made himself, twisted and giant with reeds for branches that sweep the floor with every windbreak, sigils sit guarding your name, he visits it often, sometimes with you, sometimes without. Your own shrine, for him.
He lets you see his real form once, and only once. Just for a moment. It hurts to look at, but he lets you anyway. And as it happens he threatens to never allow it to another again, but he has trust in you, whatever that is to him. He lets you hold him, take him in, as he does you, every moment. An intimate moment even he wouldn’t forget.
One day he gifts you a crown of illusions, stating that, “If the world will not worship you, then I will bend the world.” You and Loki are an equal, no matter your being, and that is something he has made clear, to you, to the Endless, to time itself.
He’ll kiss your scars like they’re scripture, making love to every one of them, tracing them with his fingers and his eyes light up every time he gets to touch them, staring intently, “Each one’s a secret. A story. A spell etched on your body. I’ve read them all.”
Now if anyone were to ever hurt you, in any sense, Loki will make up for it in penance. Blood appears on your hands in a flash, and you try to wash it off, scrubbing harshly as the door clicks behind you. He’d been gone for hours and he strolls in like nothing ever happened, but the blood on your hands mirrors his. You ask him what happened, quirking a brow and he just shrugs. “They hurt you, I hurt them worse.” He pauses and dons that wicked grin, the blood disappearing from the both of you as he kisses you, pulling back just enough.
“I saved their tongues though, in case you wanted to hear them beg.”
He sees everything. And he knows when something’s wrong. You’re smiling, but your hands tremble in your lap, or the smile doesn’t quite meet your eyes Loki is across the room, glaring lovingly and intentionally working down every wall, because just as he is a tease, he is as attentive.
“You smiled wrong,” he says without turning. “Who hurt you?” And when you finally tell him, softly, shakily, he doesn’t promise revenge, he just stands. And smiles.
He will try, anything he can, say or conjure what he can to make you happy. You say you wish things were simpler, that you could walk hand-in-hand through a market without the world shuddering, that maybe, just once, you could be loved without consequence.
The next day, you wake up in a dream. It's a soft one, and the two of you are in a little cottage by a lake that doesn’t exist. He’s cooking eggs (more like burning them, hilariously), wearing nothing but a linen shirt, and you come up behind him kissing his shoulder. He doesn’t say it’s a dream. Instead, he lets you believe, even if just for a little while, as he closes his eyes backing into your touch.
“You said you wanted peace,” he says, eyes unsure. “I tried.” Even if he doesn’t know what that is, sometimes he wishes it too.
But one thing despite it all? He is devoted, no matter the disguise. He never really says I love you, not the normal way or the mortal way he’d say. But he leaves marks where no one can see, inscribing runes of protection on the soles of your shoes, putting charms in your coat pocket—things you don’t find until the day you need them most.
You may confront him once, frustrated, questioning why. And he just tilts his head, that expression unreadable.
“You are not my thing,” he says. “You are my weakness. That’s worse.”
Then he kisses you so gently you forget what you were angry about.
Loki doesn’t love like a man, for he is not that, but he loves like a God, and you? The only thing a God has to live for.
