Yesterday, for a hot minute I was at the JW Marriott Los Angeles LA Live in DTLA shooting Jane Fonda, Father Gregory Boyle, Gwendolyn Sontheim Meyer and Lily Tomlin among others for the red carpet event. This shot was near the end of the shoot and the photos that follow are from my decent from the Goldroom of the hotel. It’s been 2 or so years since I’ve been inside but now seems like a well heeled busy urban center. The traffic in the area was insane. The Homeboy Industries Lo Maximo was a very busy affair. It was really loud in the Goldroom and Lily or Jane found it hard to hear given I was wearing a mask. After a quick exchange with the publicist Lily Kindly returned to give me 150% for my red carpet value in photo ops. Earlier she had grasped hand and I’d told her to wait till Jane finished. I thought it was sweet of her to share that moment of trust. I remember a few years back how she had gazed in Sam Waterston’s at the Actors Fund Tony viewing party and was so touched by her obvious admiration of Sam who plays opposite of her in Grace & Frankie in that moment. The other photographers were amazed at what Lily had done and I was too. She was hilarious and charming in that moment and made my night.
