I assumed that it was personal value, but she didn't object to John throwing it in the fire because she knew he was accepting her again, and was honestly happy to throw away her old life in favour of one with John. But that might be overly optimistic
It could be. Maybe she didn't want to jeopardize a very new reconciliation by being like, "Oh, actually, there was stuff on that thumb drive we could have used..."
