how do you pronounce gif. on a related but completely hypothetical note would you cancel someone for pronouncing it jif

I used to say 'jif' until I learned that it stands for Graphic Image File (or something like that) so now I say 'gif' cause that's how 'graphic' is pronounced.

But I could not in good conscience cancel anyone for saying 'jif' because I was there myself once

Here's a random story no one asked for. Was reminded by that corvid post. Under the readmore just to keep from clogging dashes.

So idk if yall know what GISHWHES is but, essentially, it was this massive sort of scavenger-hunt style thing that Misha of Supernatural fame hosts (or, used to host? Idk how that's going these days). Essentially, strangers were split into teams and had lists of prompts/challenges/activities they had to complete. Extra points for creativity or for utilizing certain things in the prompts etc etc.

I did it once, maybe back in like its second year? If not first? And one of the tasks my group had was to recite The Raven... To a raven.

So for like. A week. A scoured my college's nature center trying to find a raven on the ground or at least close enough to it that I could recite poetry too. Had a few false starts with some flying birds that... Were probably crows anyway. But it wasn't enough - and I just wasn't finding what I needed.

So the nature center had like a central building and I went in asking for help...

So that's the story about how, somewhere in my files long lost, there exists a video of me reciting The Raven to a long dead, stuffed - aka Taxidermied - raven.
